Location location location! This gorgeous hotel reminded me so much of the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, FL.
From the moment we arrived and met Chad at the front desk everything was wonderful. Beautiful room overlooking the lake. Giselle in the breakfast room was vvery efficient, friendly and nothing was a problem. All in all a wonderful experience. We will be back! Forgot to mention that concierge desk was so helpful and pleasant
Nothing we didn't like!
It was my daughters birthday and we decided to take a quick trip. The staff knew it was her birthday and made it very special with sprinkles on her pancakes. It was a great trip in a grand hotel!
We got a lake view for the price we origanilly got. Usually hotels charge more for a lake view.
Their was a couple of door man outside and for some reason they never asked me if I needed a taxi or any service at all. I flagged my own taxie more than twice.
I was very unhappy with my stay.
Size of room View Poor customer service
Location of course, however there are a lot more of hotels to choose from in this area if the Drake doesn't get it together.
No TV remote in the room. Light bulbs were burnt out. I asked for a high floor from the desk clerk, he put me on the 3rd floor. He was kinda short with me. When leaving the parking garage my card from the hotel wouldn't work.
Downtown close to event
Food and Drinks way over priced in the hotel
The Grand Old Dame, the beauty of age of the hotel.
The aged air conditioning system, and the lack of freshness of air, lots of dust in the curtains and smell of the old carpets. The overused rooms I was assigned to on the lower floor. The cream for the coffee has caked up and turned sour.
Comfortable beds the hotel itself was nice
The rooms were a little worn obvious distress and for the price could have gotten a nicer suite somewhere else instead of just a room and paid 65$ to park car for a day. More specifically about the room, the paint on the ceiling was peeling, the lamp shades have water stains and the worst part was the headboard was loose or unattached. After trying to lay still I finally got up at 2am to put a bath towel in between the wall and the headboard so we could sleep. I felt like I was in a Motel 6, rigging the bed. I have taken my wife to Chicago a few times, but this is the first time we stayed at The Drake. It was to be special, for our 15th anniversary. It was quite the disappointment.
Location, Saturday night jazz, great staff.
Hotel reeks of cigarette smoke. Was informed it was in the vent system.
Exceptional poor quality of the buffet for an exceptional high price ( $ 31)
Room was large and clean. Bed very comfortable. Staff very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this establishment to friends.
Bathrooms are very small. One chair seat cushion had holes in it. Concierge was not familiar with Southwest Airlines 24 hour check in policy and not as computer knowledgeable as I would have expected. Iron was missing.
We loved this historic hotel and all it offered. It was a fabulous anniversary experience for us in Chicago!
The one of staffs at the reception desk was really arrogant. If a guest has a problem or misunderstanding, the staff has to help him/her out, rather than trying to penalize the customer. "I do not know" is not a proper answer to the customer who asks some questions.
Everything was great
I have no compliants
Excellent breakfast buffet and staff, comfortable bed
For over USD 330 a night I expected a bit more, e.g. a bathrope and slippers.
Reserved luxury king room. Expected view of lake. Instead looked out on air handlers and ducting. Listened to air handlers running all night. Pillows too soft. Shower curtain too short, allowed water to leak out on floor.
The staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. Location is really good if you like shopping. Room is veer spacious.
The hotel is a bit old so the facility is sometimes not updated. No wifi in room unless paid. I told my friend when I was in Chicago " there is free wifi everywhere in Chicago except my hotel room". And a pair of slippers is missing is such a 4 stars hotel!
Location room with a view Great breakfasts.
One elevator seemed to be on the blink. People had to push on both outside and inside elevator doors to open and let the guests out.
Carpet with lots of little holes and such…elevators old and paint and such peeling...
It was our anniversary and we were upgraded to the Vista Suite which was a present and welcome surprise. Thanks for the Champaign and anniversary cake. It was delightful.
I loved the old world feel of the place. Chic and fancy!
Comfort and city access wonderful.
The location of the hotel is excellent, you're right in the thick of things on the far end of the magnificent mile. On first impressions as you walk in, the hotel looks very posh, expensive and clean.
However, get up to your room and this will all change. The room smelt musty and old, this is probably because the carpet was older than I am (31 years old). The bathroom was something I'd find in my grandmother's house, grubby and extremely dated. At $500 a night you would expect to the room to have some amenities! But not the drake, the wifi was an additional $12 a night plus tax, there were no complementary drinks or snacks in the room and the staff were not helpfull in the least. The cleanliness of this place in the rooms was disgusting. On arrival the bathroom mirror had miscara on it, this remained for our entire stay. The bath, which used to be white, was now a yellow colour with a black tub where everyone stood in the shower and you could guarantee that at least everyday, one of the clean towels provided, would be stained. To top the stay off, not one person in the hotel asked if we enjoyed our stay. Probably because it was written all over my face!
I was impressed by the time given to make our an I ersatz one to remember champaign sent up to our room and breakfast in executive lounge each day was a lovely treat
