Great location to the beach and restaurants.
Small parking lot
Staff was wonderful and helpful with anything I asked
Problems with wi fi Ocean front balcony had a building blocking most of the view. Does not include pass for beach
The staff at the Empress was amazing, accommodating and wonderfully nice, everyone was eager to please and sweet. We felt welcomed and enjoyed the location and pool area, and though they did a great job updating the rooms. We came down for a show at the Stone Pony so were also there to have a good time, and expected noise, so weren't shocked when we were asked to sign a waiver saying there was an expectation for noise at check-in.
However, I don't think we really understood the extent of the noise. It was bananas. Well after 4am there was music blasting and party noise (after the clubs in the hotel were closed and dead) and while in our state we were able to sleep through some of it, the party picked back up around 8am. If you're looking for a good time, it seems like that's the place to stay, but if you want to get in even more than four hours of shut eye... I'd check out someplace else.
The hotel was easy to get to and it's great for it's facilities. The hotel seems popular and that's because of it's location and nice staff. It seems to be the only fully done hotel in asbury park. The neighborhood is beautiful. The club at the hotel stayed open late and the pool was a nice spot for relaxation. The hotel was literally less than a minute from the beach and it was located right along the strip. The staff was extremely, curteous, helpful, and friendly.
There was no parking lot or aid in finding any spots to leave your car over night. The neighborhood is packed on a summer Saturday afternoon and evening. It took about 20-30 minutes to find a spot to leave the car over night. The hotel had leftover clothes from previous guests still left under the bed so the cleaning staff missed some spots. The hotel was clean but not immaculate, but that seems to be the case with every hotel on a beach town. The room seemed pricey but that is because of it's location
The nightclub was 3 floors below us, but could still hear the music till 3 am.
The location of the hotel was the best thing about it.
Hotel overall is somewhat dated. The hallway our rooms were on smelled bad. The rooms were small, but the beds were comfortable. A group of hotel guests made a racket on the second night of our trip and woke us several times in the night, which was frustrating.
It was conveniently located near the boardwalk and the beach, so if you felt like going for a stroll, you were never too far from the hotel. I LOVED that during the day, I could just lay by the pool and that the hotel provided large bathing towels. The wait staff was on target, checking on regular basis to see if the guests wanted any food or beverages. The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Minor things - the television in the room was about 15 - 20 years old and the carpet in the hallway was a little stained. The shower knobs didn't work properly. The louvered closet door was missing a slat.
~balcony ~friendly staff ~great location ~views
~no store in hotel to get aspirin, water- only a vending machine ~vending machine had no water only soda ~slow elevator ~outdated tv with bad signal
Staff Entertainment Close to Stone Pony Pool
Right across from stone pony, a block off the beach, very clean
Well as advertised it has a gay club didn't bother me but hubby was a bit uncomfortable, was a little pricey, bathrooms dated but clean. Overall not bad
Great place to stay if you're going to a show at The Stone Pony.
Club was very loud but to be expected on a Saturday night. Easiest solution is to just stay out until 2 or 3.
Housekeeping only changed sheets twice in a week even after I asked management to do it everyday on 4 occasions. Had to change A/C filter myself as it was filthy. Twice the carpet was not vacuumed and once the toilet was not cleaned at all. Coffee pot and filter not cleaned on regular basis.
Super fun hotel right across from the beach with a great staff, nice pool and tons of gay New Jersey folks.
Proximity to restaurants,.beach & nitght life was excellent.
Room price was a bit high after taxes for a one night stay.
Staff couldn't have been nicer
TV had only a few channels.
Rooms were nice size n view was nice
Not enough parking and management would not cover parking fees for having to park n pay on street. Hallways need updating carpet very old. Lots of noise at night.
Can bring dog, nice pool, big room, ac and wfii worked well
Coffee in room bad, breakfast poor selection, not good parking situation
People at desk addressed my concerns very nicely and professionally Beds and sheets very comfortable Was provided extra towels Back balcony could see music stage Fun place!
Phone wasn't working internet needed to be rebooted pool was having repairs Wish view (opposite to ocean side) was a bit nicer
Did not know it was a gay pride hotel with a gay nightclub attached to it. The music was so loud all night, could barely get any sleep.
Audrey and Tom were a tremendous help and served us well, in lieu of a concierge! Great customer service! Just footsteps from the beach, The Empress is in the heart of The Asbury Park Beach. We loved the quaint restaurants on the boardwalk, as well as Audrey's recommendation of a 5 star restaurant, Brando's. Yummy! After dinner, it was fun to catch the concert at the Stone Pony from our private balcony. The thing we loved most about The Empress was its convenience, and the many choices that could customize our weekend. From beach, to bar, to 5 star restaurant, to rock concert, it was the best of all worlds wrapped into one.
Wish that we didn't have to bring our own beach chairs, but the fact that they had dog friendly rooms, made it an easy decision for our pups ;)
The Pool Was Fantastic.
Cleanliness Of The rooms
-The super friendly staff was wonderful! -The location is really perfect - close to everything fun. -Relaxed atmosphere.
-Dated room. -Not super clean (pink make up stains, maybe lipstick or blush, on the bed - we didn't say anything about this since we were just staying one night, I'm sure they would have taken care of it.
The management is very professional, very impressed!!! Location is excellent!
Just an FYI for any out-of-towners, this hotel/attached bar are known as the premier gay nightclub in Asbury Park. No issues from my friend and I, but some folks may take issue with it. The beds and facilities were fantastic; very clean and comfortable. Also, the staff was extremely helpful.
The night club music can be heard pulsing through the entire building...until 4am.
