Because we were able to visit at a slower time the hotel upgraded us to a beautiful suite in the Orvis.
bed is a bit lumpy, couch was a bit stained and older latch on screen door was completely broken but layout of room and the kitchen were very nice
When we booked our room on booking.com we could not see it clearly that the hotel charges $30 per night! They say you will have free wifi but then you see a nice bill for everything they offer.
The Equinox is a grand looking hotel on a quiet Vermont street with the history but also modern amenities. The rooms are very tasteful and large with big windows and high ceilings. The food is also excellent.
The only thing that is a minus is the elevator is a little bit of a walk from the main lobby.
Better in middle of week not to busy
Spa seems overpriced and swimming suits were outrageous in price. Bring your own!
The Equinox is not what it was. It is no longer a cozy, tasteful haven. It is now a corporate loding place with no character appeal. It is amazing that anyone could make the place so cold and insincere. The colors are bland, the lighting severe, the staff not knowledgable, the food undistinguished. It is especially sad since it was so good for so long.
The staff are friendly and helpful. We had a gorgeous corner room with view of the mountain. The spa treatments were phenomenal.
The spa is detached from the main hotel so you have to walk outside to get there. As it was winter when we were there it was a rather cold walk but honestly it didn't take away from my experience. But I do think this may be problematic for some people.
The resort and the town
The staff was amazing and the accommodations were excellent
I did not like the "upgrade" prices. Meaning that they should disclose the if with you free breakfast or any meal ticket. They should let you know that hot food is not included in the comp meal not after you have eaten. I think that is a little deceptive.
The staff was very attentive and it was great to have access to the hiking trails around the lake on the hotel's property.
There were a few mix-ups-- they couldn't find our reservation at first (which the staff person mentioned may have something to do with reservations made on Booking.com?). And, the next day at breakfast our table with just-poured coffee and o.j. was cleared as soon as we got up to head to the buffet. They moved us to new table and replaced the coffee etc., but the cream at that table had gone rancid. Eek. However, the staff quickly and very nicely fixed the issues and gave us free drink tickets to use at the bar and they comped our breakfast. One big thing: the smell of the entryway is not good. I understand there are plenty of people walking in in wet snow boots on the carpet (and there's a sign asking people not to). That kind of smell means mold. Pretty surprising especially at such a pricey hotel.
