Location was very convenient for my business meeting. The in room coffee machine was new and nice with plenty of cartridges for coffee available.
The wireless internet was a little inconsistent and gave us a few dropped connections. No printer available in the lounge area. The bed was very soft and sagged in the center.
10 MIN WALK TO MALL AND OTHER AMENITIES
Really nice room although I did ask to move to one without the very large 4 poster bed. Lots of nice details and very comfortable room including a sitting balcony.
Unfortunately this lovely hotel is located on noisy Ala Moana street.
Comfortable bed, and convenient location to the huge Ala Moana Center and to the Waikiki beaches.
Our room was on the 7th floor and as far from Ala Moana Boulevard as it is possible to get in the hotel. We don't like using air conditioning at night, so slept with a partly-opened window, and the noise from unsilenced Harley Davidson motorcycles racing along Ala Moana Boulevard during the night was enough to wake us up.
We were happy to be away from the crowds, the beach is only a 10-15 minute walk, although the hotel is on a busy main road there was little noise at night. We would stay here again. Good coffee!!!
TV was very difficult to regulate. But staff were helpful. Door to the balcony did not close completely. Overall still a good stay.
photo with obama and staff at the reception; location; relatively fast wifi; coffee-machine at the room;
quite old and depressing furniture, the hotel needs renovation; very noisy (there is a road nearby); didn't notice while booking, that there were 14% of extra taxes. was a bit surprised, looking at my credit card transactions. for this price could find a better hotel. quite poor swimming pool :D
Room was dirty. Filter on the air conditioner was disgusting
Location is pretty good. Price is not too bad considering the cost of other hotels in the same area. There was a fridge in the room and ironing board and iron.
Not very good soundproofing of the rooms, we could hear noise from the street. It wasn't too bad, but it was a bit annoying. We could also hear talking from the room (or perhaps balcony of the room) next to us. There was also not enough space, where to put my clothes. There was a wardrobe in the bathroom, but it only had 4 clothes hangers and nothing else.
The staff was not very helpful or friendly. Advice we've been given had been inaccurate. When we left an item behind the reception was very unhelpful on the phone, putting us on hold and not getting back to us. We had to call back four times and go by to retrieve the item. Rooms are fairly noisy due to the traffic. Cleaners do not seem to change sheets. Rooms were not ready when we arrived after the agreed check in time.
No elevator to street level.
Friendly staff. Near shopping. Food and bus line. we had a lanai and could glimpse the ocean between the buildings.
Stairs to enter were difficult with those who had strollers luggage etc. Almost no lobby area.
The guy at the front desk was a delight and he let us check in early after a long flight from Australia (loved him for that). Concierge was super helpful. Super close to the bus and ala Moana shops.
The stairs leading up were tough with luggage and the road noise made it hard to sleep. My advice would be to ask for a room at the back.
I got doulbe charges. so I contacted to the hottel. but they didn't do action for me, they just told me they will check. after coming back, 4 days gone. but until now, they didn't contact and explain about the situation.
I really don't think you can beat the price for a hotel this nice, in this part of Waikiki. We had an amazing week. Friendly staff, laid back attitude, etc.
Pool is a little small, but it's not the resort kind of hotel you hang out at all day, drinking by pool. It's just a clean, comfortable place to sleep, in a great location with friendly staff.
We liked the location and it suited our needs very well. We found staff most obliging and friendly.
There was nothing we didn't like.
friendly and accommodating staff, good facilities, close to ala moana centre. we used ala moana beach rather than waikiki and it was great! plenty of food places around the hotel, the bus was handy.
the location was good, comfy beds and free wifi :-)
The pool was smaller than appeared on website photo :-(
Great location, friendly staff and room was a good size
TV didn't work sometimes, loose connection or something. We were at the end of corridor next to maintenance cupboard.... Very noisy in the morning!
We stayed at this hotel because it is five minutes' walk from Ala Moana mall. It made shopping very easy. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were given free cocktails by the pool. We had a room with a king size bed and ensuite. Shower only, no bath. Everything was fairly new, very clean and comfortable. Bar fridge with separate freezer compartment and coffee maker, plus free wifi. The hotel is only five minutes' walk from the harbour and the beach out the front of Hilton Hawaiian Village. There are a couple of restaurants nearby and an ABC store on the corner. If you are interested in bars and nightlife then you have to walk 15-20 minutes to get to the centre of Waikiki. Everything is within walking distance though.
Be conscious that reception etc is on level 2 of the hotel, which is also where the lift starts. There are about 10-15 steps up to reception so you need to carry luggage up and down stairs. I have no idea why they didn't start the lift on the ground floor where the car park is. The swimming pool is very cold as it's 6-7 feet deep and barely gets sun during the day. It's not the right hotel for lounging around by the pool in the sun. Parking costs $20 per day.
This hotel was right across the street from Waikiki Beach without all the hubbub and busy-ness. There's also Ala Moana Beach which is less than 1/2 mile away, as well as Ala Moana Center, a huge mall with a food court where they have wonderfully inexpensive food. The rooms were super clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful when we had questions or needed suggestions. Parking is $25, but all the valets were super nice. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it highly.
The pool is tiny -- just letting you know -- but we didn't come to Hawaii to sit by a pool. Also, our room didn't have a balcony if that's important to you.
Location was good!
I had no air conditioning and very small pool. Requested for a microwave but was told that they could heated up for me and I wanted to do it myself so that was pretty awkward.
Poor front desk service, beddings were very dirty, the employees next to my room #205 were very rude, loud, and had no consideration for the guests who are staying in the hotel. One of the workers (maid) actually looked at me and said "what". Very poor customer service. Being born and raised in Hawaii, i would never expect this type of service from your workers. I will never stay at your place again, and i am telling everyone on my island not to stay at the Equus.
Room was clean. Good decor.
Parking was difficult and very inconvenient.
I love how it is quiet and small. Convenient to the restaurants and stores. Walkable to the beach and the ala moana center. I love Rene she is so friendly and approachable. The customer service is great!
Parking :(. Small parking lot but can park across the street for $20 no taxes!
1. The "woven" chairs at the work desk was very uncomfortable. I asked for an ordinary chair as replacement, but that request was "forgotten". 2. I left my small suitcase with the front desk for several hours after checking out. A small item from the front pouch was "missing" when I picked up the bag.
