The Inn is located in a residential neighborhood with a lot of services and popular with college students. It is close to the B train of the Green Line. basically it is an old two family home converted to an Inn. The price is the best you can get in Boston proper, period. This is high quality budget lodging.

This is a dusty old converted two-storey house that is in need a good clean. no front desk person, you have to phone for help. bed cold with no underblanket. staff different each time, seemed untrained, just helping out etc. While cheaper than other places, it isn't near town and it is not value for money. hard to see how other reviews were positive.

The location and my roommates. You sell a room with shared bathroom with men!!! Very unpleasant, not knowing if you meet a man in the hallway. Very very dirty all over, except from the bathrooms. Stayde a week, didnt once hear a hoover. Saw the maid change sheets' the cover was'nt changed. The floor wasnt hoovered. On the wall was a bit greasy spot, like "leftovers" from womit. If you looked around the foodlist, it was greasy and dirty from years of "leftovers". The smell in the house is sickening, and the use of Airwick spray doesnt help, it just makes it harder to breath. Theres a need for "changing the air". The wifi connetion was "mostly out of order", wich is aggrivation, when you work in between time differences.

For such a cheap rate, I was worried about the quality. However, while it's not the Hyatt, the room was clean and quiet and the manager was helpful. Considering I saved about $500 over the course of the weekend if I would have booked at one of the downtown chains, I absolutely would stay here again. Well you're not getting amenities such as breakfast, full cable package, elevator, etc. Bed wasn't super-comfortable. But again, for the price, these are pretty minor concerns.

It was easy to check-in and there was an automatic check-out which provided a lot of freedom. The quality of the furniture was really bad. I felt the springs in the bed and there was only a thin blanket even though it was winter. There was an alarm clock but it didn't work, which would have caused me to oversleep if I didn't check it. The advertised free wifi did not work at all. The bathrooms were dirty. I shared a three-person room, but it was not well designed: with a long room and only a light switch next to the door, it was difficult to find my bed at night, and for others to find their beds. I have traveled much and don't need a lot of comfort, but this was very disappointing considering the high price. Do not go here.

I liked the price very much. The Farrington has to be one of the best bargains in the Boston area. I also liked the location, as it was just a short walk to the "T" (Boston subway system), and an even shorter walk to the bus stop. I also liked it that the staff were so unfailingly friendly and helpful. They were happy to answer any questions, and quick to fix my television when it wasn't working correctly. The unexpected pleasant surprise was the Farrington's neighborhood -- a great mix of little restaurants, bars, and shops with a very wide variety of ethnic influences. I chose the Farrington so I could go to events and meetings at other locations in the Boston area, but I also ended up spending time, eating, and shopping in this lively, fun, and friendly neighborhood. The decoration of the rooms was disturbingly uneven. For example, my room featured a huge and spectacular antique dresser, a beautiful antique wooden bed, and a stylish and cushy oriental-style rug over the polished wooden floor. But there was no bedspread on the bed, just a plain grey blanket. The curtains at the window were attractive and well-made, but the curtain rod swayed deeply in the middle. And hanging on the walls were a huge print of an impressionist painting, an Escher-type fantasy print, and a small brass plate like my grandmother had on her dining room wall. Each wall hanging was fine individually (and I like eclectic more than most people), but this combination was just uncomfortable. These things are easily fixed. I saw at least two very good second-hand stores between the Farrington and the "T" stop, so for about $25 per room, I could add bedspreads, fix curtain rods, and coordinate wall hangings. In fact, if the Farrington allowed me a budget of $25 per room, and gave me free lodging for about five days next October, I would guarantee to fix these problems. Then I could recommend the Farrington to my wife and her female friends as well. Seriously, contact me!

Met several lovely people in my share room. The bedroom had an old fridge & microwave which were non working & filled up space where you could store your luggage. The bed was old & squeaked when you turned over. I'm no heavy weight so hate to think what it would be like for a larger person! No fridge to store any food items. This would have been more use than all the old appliances in the bedroom! Only stay here if you are desperate for accommodation. There is a new hostel in downtown Boston which is more convenient & looks in better condition. Don't try & get to this hostel on public transport at night as it is difficult to find especially if you are alone.

I was surprised and pleased to find a mini fridge and a microwave in my room! The room and the shared bathroom were both clean and comfortable. The staff was absolutely incredible. They were extremely accommodating and friendly. The place is also only about 10 minutes to a T stop and about 5 for the bus!! Can't think of anything but if I really had to dig, I was a little cold but it was the change of the season, not yet time for heaters!

Good price as Boston is very expensive. Easy to check in and pay, just pick up the phone at the front door and someone came straight away to sort me out. Parking out the back. Easy to get into boston on the tram/train and cheap. Bathroom again old, but clean and with good hot water pressure It is old and somewhat in disrepair but it was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Some travel advice, maybe a tourist map on the wall would be useful. Its easy to get in and out of Boston, but took me a day or two to find my bearings after visiting tourist information downtown. If you just want food and a beer, brighton ave is 2 blocks away, instead of trecking into Boston centre. Isnt really a hostel for meeting people, just cheap accomodation to get some sleep

Umm... It was ok, and less expensive than most places but 100 dollars is a little steep for what they provide. A tv that has no power button. A small room which requires climbing two sets of steep stairs. A shared bathroom with a window blind that once you open it it wouldn't close (at least not for me). But it was clean and the staff did whatever was required to process you.
