The friendliness of the staff. Really made us feel a part of a family.
Bed was too hard and the room was very small.
Comfortable bed, good quality cotton sheets
The place needs a deep clean, repaint and refurbishment.
Very good breakfast.
Breakfast was fabulous, decor was well suited to style and age of Inn. Friendly staff.
Would have preferred coffee in AM, either in room or available in dining/living room. We're early risers.
The breakfasts and Randy the host.
Cose to the main road so a little noisy.
Randy - the owner- goes that extra mile. Lots of information on local facilities and when we were let down by a taxi driver he came out himself to collect us. Breakfasts were terrific. And the Riverview Suite bedroom has a very comfortable huge bed and a hot tub/jacuzzi. We highly recommend the Gables.
Small attention to details- a bulb out and no plug for the kitchen sink (soon rectified). Just minor things which didn't detract at all from the stay.
Large rooms with fireplace. Outstanding breakfast. Location and hospitality were amazing It is very old but clean and casual place - very close to everything.
Most memorable about the Gables Inn is the breakfast.
The owner randy was awesome. It's an authentic Vermont inn !
1. The Inn 2. Clear and comfortable 3. Fireplace and lounging area 4. Breakfast - try the Vermont special! Yum!! 5. Quiet location
I wish I could have stayed longer.
Location and breakfast
No TV in room.
Location was excellent, close to attractions and restaurants. The breakfasts were excellent. Parking was very convenient. Innkeeper was very friendly and helpful about local information.
Room was very very small. The floor was so settled in the old building that the floor and bed were slanted uncomfortably. Being right above the kitchen burnt food smells were strong.
Staff, breakfast and location were exceeent
The squeaky bed
Randy the owner is a really nice person - if you have any questions of the area, he will help you. The breakfasts which are included in the price are really tasty - the portions are generous. The restaurant staff are welcoming; the service is excellent.
Randy was the perfect host. Breakfasts were amazing.
The host Randy was very welcoming and helpful. Choice of breakfast items from the menu. Communal lounge area to sit and chat. Coffee and cake available in lounge area.
Wifi only worked in downstairs communal area.
The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The location turned out to be perfect as there is a walking path across the street that connected the Inn with the fairgrounds for the British Invasion. So convenient. It was also close to Stowe Center. The food in the breakfast room was the best I've had in many a moon- very Vermont and tasty. Some places just give you a pastry and a coffee. These were full breakfasts!
The rooms are small and the furnishings are a bit tired looking. My room hadn't been dusted for awhile and I have allergies. The bathroom could use a towel rack and a hook or two. A few small expenditures could increase the comfort level a lot.
Breakfast included was a good value. Everything on the menu was included, all done nicely.Service at breakfast was very good. Its all we can recommend.
No room phone,no TV,ancient room and in 2014 no internet in the room. Could hear everyone in the next bathroom quite clearly in the morning.Faucets in the bathroom were not installed properly, they moved all over the sink when used.A double bed not much for being 6'1".Most uncomfortable bed ever.We found another place for the next night.
Quaint with clean rooms and private bath. Excellent breakfast included.
Randy is an excellent host. The inn is both traditional and interesting. The staff friendly and open. We loved this place!
Loved the staff, the location, the decor and the proprietor. Breakfast was lovely and served personally to us in exactly proportions requested. Like having your mom cook for you. Rustic.. a trip back in time. Great story, comfy sitting room, just off dining area. Great WiFi - No problems.
Unfortunately we opted for a double bed room to save a few dollars and it had to be the tiniest bed I have ever slept in plus being hard and uncomfortable. Room was cute but hard to turn around in. Would be fine for a single person but way too cozy for a couple not to meniton luggage.
It felt like we were staying at relative's house and sleeping at guest bedroom. The room was decorated with baseball theme, like boys bedroom. Homey, relaxed and we got unique breakfast. I had chicken liver and onion prepared by Randy, the owner, and it was delicious. In fact, people come here just for breakfast.
I wish we didn't stay only for 1 night.
The owners are very nice. The living room with free coffee and cake is a nice extra. Very good breakfast is included. The rooms are clean. The Japanese restaurant is just next to this place.
Since I'm 1,98m, a queen bed is just too small. The only recommendation I would make is to provide at least one room with a larger bed for (Dutch) tall people. Everything else was just great.
Usually dread uncomfortable mattresses when we go away, but not the case here. Innkeeper was very helpful with places in the area to see. Super breakfast. Would definitely stay again.
No tv in the room. Could be a little cleaner.
