Great food, clean and wonderful rooms and carriage house. Love the cooks in the kitchen. They always entertain us.
wish there was a coffee maker, small refrigerator and microwave.
Staff were helpful and cheerful.
Hotel a bit tired.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Thought it was overpriced.
Our first time in Savannah and celebrated our 20th anniversary. The staff, accomodations, food, and hospitality were beyond wonderful. We felt like we were staying with old and fabulous friends!
The welcome was warm, and service excellent. My room was amazing - an out-house all to myself with a balcony! The main building was built in around 1860 - and extremely well presented. I highly recommend the Gastonian.
Breakfast started at 8am which is fine for tourists but a little late for business travellers - 7am would be better
From the time you drive up to the Gastonian you're happy you made the choice to stay there. It's a beautiful home on a beautiful street. When you walk through the double glass doors you're greeted by the Concierge who immediately welcomes you and offers you a cold beverage. The room was gorgeous as was the living and dining rooms. They cook your breakfast to your specification in the morning. You can dine in the kitchen and watch the chef. It's super cozy and you'll feel like you're family. In the afternoon they have wonderful appetizers and wine and late night they have homemade desserts, coffee, port and sherry. It was everything I wanted in a B&B and more! We saw a few other B&B's but the Gastonian's "vibe" just makes it a must place to stay!
I don't think there is anything they can improve. If I had to suggest something it would be they have more luxurious towels.
Everything. Wonderful breakfast, great snacks at happy hour and more goodies at nightcap time. The hospitality never ended.
Location was awesome
Not as clean as I'd like to see. Our toilet was on 1 side of our bed and the sink and shower were on the other. Hardwood floors were ridiculously slippery.
great location, and very nice this-is-not-a-hotel-but-a-house atmosphere.
kitchen is in the breakfast room and fills the hotel with smoke and heavy smell. The room below suffers considerably.
The old-style of the hotel is awesome and the staff is perfect, especially the cooker Tony! The afternoon snacks were delicious!
The history was great. The staff were very courteous and very fast on any and all request. The food was excellent that was provided but maybe could cut cost if they did a breakfast buffet that was exclusively southern. A nice buffet can be reduced, extended or modified dependent on the number of guest. However, one of the general items is to offer enough that you get a consensus of what the "market" bears including hot, cold and coffee, juices and other. The evening desert was a good touch and that could be extended some but reducing the wine but keeping with the sherry. Maybe adding southern Apple Ciders and more cream pies or longer lasting desert pickups.
Outside of both buildings needs some added attention in cleaning up the clutter as to the gardens, lighting at night and general spruce up without modification of the age or special historical values.
Warm, knowlegeable staff. Customer service permeates everything they do. Great old home in an ideal location. Food was lovely. Met great people as fellow guests each day. Look forward to going back soon!
The Gastonian is on the edge of the historic district, but this suited us as we had a car. Parking was available for free. Our room was very comfortable and quite spacious. We loved the wine and hors d'oeuvres which were provided in the beautiful sitting room downstairs every evening. This was a wonderful way to meet fellow travellers! Really enjoyed breakfast too.
The staff and accommodations were wonderful. It was the most relaxing, fun getaway ever. Loved Savannah and loved The Gastonian!
The staff and whole atmosphere was refreshing.
Nothing was prefect.
Great location, staff very helpful, food was wonderful, especially the evening desserts.
Unable to connect to WiFi Unable to sit in swings due to misquitos
Had some problems with the attitude of one of the concierge on a particular problem. Rest of staff excellent. Inn Keeper very apologetic. But as a result my daughter cancelled her plans to use this Inn the weekend of her wedding. Not sure we would recommend. We have been to others that were just as nice. Food fair to good.
The location was good. The lounge area and evening pre-dinner food was great.
We didn't like our ground floor room with doorway onto the street. The a/c could not be turned off and was cold and blew onto the bed so it was a cold sleep. The bed was broken and sloped on one side. The toilet would continue to run after use and had to be flushed many times to stop it. We mentioned the problems to the staff but nothing was done. The wifi was unreliable. We were very much looking forward to this stay but were very disappointed. The website is not a true representation of the hotel.
We liked the flair and the possibility to relax and to meet a lot of very nice people; it was our 3rd stay already.
We are now 20 years older, that the first time and a room there involves a lot of stair climbing; not very comfortable any more
everything, this is a great BB.
Location, staff. Lovely breakfast, wine and appetizers in the afternoon, coffee, sherry and desert in the evening were included. Buidings, gardens and our room were absolutely charming. Our room had a beautiful very large private porch. Breakfast could be served in the room, or on the beautiful porch.
Room was small to the extent it only permitted a bedside table on one side. There were no closets large enough to hang a dress or even a suit, only a rod in an enclosed beautiful piece of furniture long enough for shirts.
The ambience and the staff were fantastic. Like the food for breakfast and the afternoon tea as well as evening snacks.
I understand that it is historic Savannah. But blinds do not keep out the sun in the morning need to add some form of blackout drapes. Sleeping is not the best.
Rooms were very nice.
Staff cold and unfriendly. Policy told when arrived that no child under 21 would be acceptable. We came with 15 year old granddaughter. They had no choice but to allow. parking facilities not the best, although manageable.
The hotel has fantastic location.
It is certainly not the quality the four stars boutique should represent. Friendly staff won't make up for the mold in the shower, stained chairs and quite tired room.
