The Grand Hotel and Conference Center

I liked the convenience to the interstate. We were returning to Iowa from a business trip for just an overnight stay so did not have time to really utilize your facility.

The beds were really uncomfortable and I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the rooms. My husband is gluten intolerant so the breakfast did not work well for him.

The room was comfrotable and well equipped. The pool was large, warm, and well maintained. The breakfast was great- a lot of variety and high quality and there was plenty of seating. The hotel itself was well maintained and the staff was very friendly.

Air conditioner did not work. Room needed updating. Not many people staying there. Did not like mouse traps and chemicals on top of terrace inside lobby right about where the continental breakfast was served.

The hotel was close to the site we were at. The staff was friendly and it was very easy to get to.

The rooms need a renovation. The couch and chair were very dirty and were in desperate need of a good cleaning. The vent in the bathroom had a years worth of dirt on it and the top of the light had many dust bunnies.

The bathroom needed refurbishing. Small thing like the sink didn't hold water.

Staff tried to accommodate us but there were problems that I will describe below that added some stress for my family on the front end of our stay

We booked the hotel room throuhbooking.com and then came to learn that all area hotels were full. I called the hotel to confirm our room. They said they were overbooked but then found a room for us. Because of my daughter's asthma, we were guaranteed a nonsmoking room. When my family arrived (I was not on the trip), they were put in a very smoky room. They explained we were guaranteed a nonsmoking. They were moved to another room, but they couldn't get the door open (wrong key then dead battery in door lock). Finally they were moved and actually given a suite at same price. So, hotel worked hard to accommodate, but the difficulties on the front end booking a hotel when it was apparently full and then the rooms were cause for some upfront distress.

The breakfast was very good.

The rooms were very outdated. The mattresses were very old and uncomfortable. It smelled musty and had not been vacuumed.

I like the spacious pool and activities area.

I was extremely disappointed that the Spa was out of order. (And especially disappointed that it appears that there is no intent at repairing it.)

Rooms were spacious and relatively clean. Quiet place as well.

Decor and wall coverings dated, some areas of hotel had obnoxious odor, excercise equipment needs updating, hot tub in disrepair

The pool-area lounge (Tables) and carpeting throughout is pretty old and shabby! Makes the place feel a bit sketchy.

Very nice double room with refrigerator and microwave. Spacious. Clean. Nice fuzzy towels.

The indoor courtyard was noisy and looked "worn". The house computer was very, very slow.
