The location and the staff of the Hay-Adams was excellent. Our room was very comfortable as I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a high quality hotel. A++
Rooms were beautiful Staff were very helpful and kind Location, as soon as you walked out the door you could view the White House. Walking distance to Sites were good.
No Coffee maker in the room for a first quick cup of coffee. Hotel food was a little pricey.
Loved everything about the hotel facilty but it was the people that made my stay special
The location, staff, food, cocktails were all fantastic
Traditional ambience and service, view of the White House a bonus
The bathroom was a tad bijou but functional. The breakfast was very formal and way too expensive with slow... service.
Service, Breakfast--indeed, all the Food was great, Location, Staff, Room, WiFi, Small Size, Newspapers, Off the Record Pub/Bar
A/C in room could have worked better; no views from some rooms; main dining room was being remodeled
I like the location
Price is too high
Excellent old school hotel staff were charming and very accommodating
ROBERT LUTES AND DAVID CROMWELL LOVED EVERYTHING...THE ENTIRE STAFF MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE
Location right next to White House Traditional design with quality fittings Efficient and friendly staff always made you feel welcome
Location, Room, Staff, Facilities, few minutes to White House and the Mall, restaurants and super market few minutes away, Metro Stations 4 minutes walk.
Concierge Knowledge is medium on advise of some issues, however, they are kind, helpful
Excellent customer service Location Brilliant concierge Building design Cellar bar!
We were booked into the smoking floor Breakfast tables had to be pre booked Morning tea/ coffee was a very limited time Room service for tea/ coffee was extremely slow
The change and cancel police is not flexible.
The location was wonderful, but the staff made the experience truely wonderful.
Nothing, everything was great.
We travel a lot. This exceptionally placed hotel is one of the best in which we have ever stayed. Inspite of being an upmarket hotel by the 2nd day we were being recognised by staff generally but especially by the restaurant staff where the food was excellent and the service really personable and attentive. The bar downstairs. The restaurant. The attention to detail. The obvious pride the staff took in their hotel.
The small bathroom but it was in keeping with the age/décor/ambience of the hotel
The amenities and the little things like choc and the fridge accommodating my own drinks. The Staff are very attentive. After my initial disappointment of not having someone help me with my bags as there was no doorman around after midnight, one of the staff helped me with my bags. I did not expect this of a 5 star hotel. I stayed at the Omni, a 4 star hotel in San Diego and they had porters 24 hours who helped me. But thanks to the one of Reception Staff, the getleman who helped me bring my bags up. For a non smoking room, my room smelled of cigarettes when I came back with friends and their 2 kids to have a look at my room. Where that tobacco smell came from was a mystery to me. My room terrace Room 728, overlooked an office so it was a bit disconcerting to open it to see people in their offices. But then again, even at $499 per night plus tax, I did not pay enough for the coveted view. If I wanted to be picky, the bath tub looks tired and you could see cracks on the tub and outline of the mat that used to be there. But lovely toiletries and the dressing gown, although far too big, was godsend. All in all, despite the tobacco smell the next night, I had a good nights' sleep. The bed was built for comfort. Love the colonial appeal. I had my paper delivered too. Wi fi was great! Staff at the bar were brilliant, thanks Anthony! We had quite a laugh. The porters the next morning were all excellent and really helped me, same as Concierge and Reception. Closest hotel to the Whitehouse as I wanted. I had a relatively pleasant stay and would still recommend this hotel. Maybe next time, I should splurge for the view.
Room 728 smelled of tobacco that night of the 16th July . With friends and their 2 kids to visit me, it was quite embarrassing.
The AC did not cool enough. 70 degrees was the lowest it got. The room was small.
Location and the vast majority of the front of house staff. Very comfortable beds
Attitude of catering staff (F&B Director aware. Shame we were allocated a room which had virtually no natural light an overlooked an office block next door given that we were staying for 5 nights.
Small boutique historic hotel in great location. Some staff 5 star service orientation.
Some staff acted insulted by their jobs. We arrived to our room while it was being cleaned and the housekeeper was down the hall having left our door wide open so anyone could see our belongings. No counter in the bathroom, felt like a motel.
The location was great and the beds were incredibly comfortable.
Where to start? Every day we were there we had to call the front desk (bar ware and toiletries needed replacements, room service food was taken when asked to be left, etc). We were mischarged for a bottle of wine ($58 instead of $42). Upon checkout we were charged for 4 minibar sodas ($6.50 each) that we never took. The hotel cleared up the charges but never really apologized for the mistake. If you asked for a bucket of ice it would take at least 45 minutes, twice with no lid. Housekeeping was abysmal. Sugar wrappers left on the desk, hair dryer cord bundled up, didn't replace used wine glasses, never took ice buckets (we had 3 in our room at one point). While non of these things ruined our trip, for nearly $500/night, at a 5-star hotel, we were extremely disappointed. Cheaper hotel chains provide better service than we experienced. Thoroughly disappointing, would not return.
The hotel is perfectly located.beautiful decor, very good size room, excellent bar "Off The Record" and charming and helpful staff.
No swimming pool.
Prefect, but price.
White house veiw plus 400USD......, parking 50USD.....
Food, all the staff except one, accommodations, location, size, history.
One black porter had an obnoxious attitude toward us.
Superior service, friendliness, extremely comfortable bed, and location are just a few reasons why I would highly recommend this wonderful hotel to other guests. It made our first trip to DC truly memorable.
My best friend and I stayed at the Hay-Adams for 4 nights. Everything about this unique hotel was exceptional - you just can't beat the personalized service you receive here. Staff members recognize you and are there to accommodate your every request. It was a busy weekend for Washington and the hotel was packed with politicians and celebrities, but I was treated with the same graceful elegance as everyone else. I am not at all surprised that this is the #1 hotel in Washington. This distinction is well deserved.
You'll be hard pressed to find anything wrong with the Hay-Adams. I sure couldn't.
