Score from 63 reviews Very good
Very comfortable, stately hotel. Large room. Good bed. Great Windows.
Where in Maine don't you find logging trucks?
I like historical building.
I wish their restaurant is open. I was very noisy all night. sounds like truck passing by all night.
Old style lobby - Location-Staff
Place needs a major updating - Bathrooms are old and need updates
Centrally located, Longfellows across the street, comfortable bed and lobby.
Old looking bed spreads.
if you are traveling with a dog stay away, there is no elevator and no rooms on-the 1st floor, also you cant leave the dogs in the room and there isn't a lot of choices for restaurants in the area
The hotel has amazing character, has been very well preserved. With a bit more work on bathrooms (subway tile would work great, keep the sinks!) and some cosmetics here and there this place could easily become a chic premium hotel, commanding premium rates.
I liked the cost and location. Staff was very nice as well.hotel has a lot of character
Very vintage hotel. Not as many facilities as a regular hotel. Clean but very basic.
no television for my grandson
Realy good services!
The bed wasn't soft. And the price was a bit high.
Location close to Sugarloaf
Old, outdated facilities. Leaky tub, flies in the room (in the winter?)
Charming old property is a lovely heritage building that has great potential if it was to be updated. It needs a lot of work on the guest rooms.
the rooms need complete overhaul. The rooms need new carpets, painting, new bathrooms, and telephones.
The location.... The staff was just horrible... Our room was double rented out so after the most horrible shower climbing in and out of a horrible old shower i wa walked in on by an older man...
It had charm. The lobby and staircase were beautiful.
The beds were very uncomfortable.
location, price, the bldg. itself
Lobby was lovely. Staff very friendly.
I don't mind a 'basic room'. But for the amount of money charged, I expect the toilet to flush without having to remove the lid and fix the gasket. I left the top off assuming that housekeeping would fix the problem, but no. Also, the tub was just shabby and needs replacement. Again, for the cost, I expected more.
old new england charm
The 1930's lobby was inviting & warm, in a retro kind of way.
The mattresses were saggy-- need replacing.
Very cool old refurbished building, right in town.
Jet tub not working.
the bed was comfortable
the room was small
great location to Sugar Loaf Mountain
Location in town, speedy wi-fi, wide halls and high ceilings
Character (very old hotel,) friendliness of staff, wifi, price, some walking distance shops and eateries.
No on-premise breakfast food except weekends How hard is it to have some oranges with toast and jam with a Kuerig machine and a kettle with tea bags. No vending machines for after hours.
Manager Dawn was excellent, pleasant and very accommodating. Lobby was pleasant and comfortable.
Room needed much TLC. Bathroom linens were threadbare, bedding was old and worn.
