Freezing temps and blizzard conditions the second night. Sliding glass door was not insulated and snow was blowing into the living room where we were trying to sleep. Couldn't get the apartment warmer than 60 degrees because of the glass door. Very long cold night in our apartment.
Location was great for skiing, kitchen was great, comfortable the first night.
the location and atmosphere was great
Bed wasn't very comfortable
The manager was wonderful
Heat didn't work well and patio door wouldn't seal. With -35 degree wind chill this made for a very uncomfortable stay on Saturday night.
Space, value for multiple families. Location was very close to skiing, ice skating, etc.
Just wish the inside was a little more updated.
The place was a good size, and close to resort. Didn't get to see all of the place!
Go in the warm months or bring your on heater. If it's cold and the wind is blowing, it's cold inside. Snow attire is needed INSIDE.
The place is fairly nice but needs better upkeep.
Very cold and the fireplace so great and made us toasty warm. Condo very roomy and great view from both balconies. Everything worked and well equipped kitchen. Old school furnished but, YOUR IN THE MOUNTAINS....Would stay again.
Sofa mattress was uncomfortable.
This was an awesome condo and awesome location. Very roomy and everything we needed!!!! The staff was wonderful to call and forewarn us of potential problem with snow and ice.
When booking the facility I needed two bedrooms with at least queen mattresses. Upon our arrival, the master bedroom had a king mattress, but the other bedroom had two twin mattresses. This wasn't good since there were two couples. We had to push together the two twins and rearrange the furniture. The beds need to be replaced. They were horrible and I couldn't get a good nights rest. The jetted tub in the master bath was unable to heat and therefore unusable.
This was a nice location and very quiet. The room was spacious and well light during the day with numerous windows. We were close to skiing, ice skating, & tubing. Grocery stores weren't too far and had what we needed.
Heat was broken, and not fixed while we were there. Given space heaters that did not adequately heat the space of the unit. Not enough supplies (ie. Toilet paper, garbage bags, towels, etc) stocked. Tile broken near fire place and left loose, posing a hazard. Staff not helpful when we called to complain of the heat not working. Had to purchase our own toilet paper, towels, and additional blankets to keep warm. No other accommodations or discounts offered for our inconvenience.
The first two rooms assigned had not been cleaned, no coffee maker or filters, and the TVs didn't work properly.
no air conditioning , only small box fans and one of them did not work
very spacious and clean facility , a little dated but overall was nice
No air conditioning!
the views, the staff, the facilities, the cost
For the money spent, one would have though the room would have been VERY nice, not just ok. the phone did not work and I was not told this at check in. This is a big problem due to lack of cell phone reception -- had there been a problem like needing an ambulance or police or animal control (bears).... No A/C, but very musty smelling. Screen sliders were not attached or not properly, so if left open bugs could have flown in... and plenty were out. Hole in closet was scary, what up w/that. Rules that made no sense -- 'put your trash in the bins' and no bin available, there were 2 giant containers but they were pad-locked.
Lots....but the bad overrode the good. There were lots of amenities to make nice if I would have stayed for week or more: full kitchen, washer/dryer, vacuum, dishwasher w/full set of dishes/utensils, 2-person Jacuzzi that got up to a very hot temp....soothing, 2 Dish tv's so we could watch separate shows. the staff was good and the mgt very graciously allowed me to change my arrival date -- as I had erred w/Booking.com. Overall, we enjoyed our stay during our Highland Games weekend, but the phone issue really had me worried.....I should have been told at check in. Recommendation yes for some and no to others...it will depend on what they want to do in greater-Grandfather Mtn.
Hot water was rusty. If you tried to use the hot tub, the water was orange-red.
Great views of the mountains with wonderful sunsets every evening.
Facility was very outdated and drab ! Sliding screen doors work terrible, takes FOREVER for water to get hot, side of refrigerator was rusted, no AC in units ( they don't tell you this ), not windows in our unit ( lower level ), only screen that slide but no way to lock them at all. Outside of unit was run down and needed a update. Hot tub and pool was terrible, didn't even get to use it the whole stay from Thursday to Sunday, pool was cold ( not heated ), hot tub wasn't even hot, like warm. Bath water got hotter that it was. We were very disappointed since this was our 20th wedding anniversary trip and meant a lot to us. Most likely would not stay here again unless it was a complete remodel. Talked to staff about this and they didn't seem to care. Said they could get maintenance to check the pool and hot tub but it would be next day. It never got fixed. Office isn't open on Sunday's or evening past 5 also !
View was fair but not what we were told. Location was okay !
There wasn't enough hot water to fill up the jacuzzi tub to reach above the jets. Once it reached the top, the water was lukewarm at best. The water also left a thick orange residue which I hope was from mostly iron and not bacteria. Nonetheless, it was worth the price we paid and we plan on staying there again. :)
Loved the view from the living room and back deck. Very quiet and peaceful atmosphere and very relaxing after a full day at Tweetsie.
Sat TV not working . Stuck sliding patio door to living room . Curtains drab and heavy inducing dampness .
Staff hours started too late in the morning and ended to early in the afternoon. They need to do a split shift to accommodate the late arrivals and early departees. Better signage showing where the Highlands on the road up the Mountain would be helpful especially for those who have never visited before.
The facilities were excellent and we really enjoyed our stay. All the furnishings were comfortable and usable. The whole place was spacious and cozy at the same time.
The pillows could use some updating. There were no extra blankets for pillows.
The view great and room size was very nice.
The only thing that put me off was the clogged drains in the kitchen sink. When we got there I noticed there was a film in the sinks that I didn't understand, but after using the sink in seeing the water backing up and standing still for quite a long time I realized what that was. To be fair, we were only there for a short time and did not tell the staff until we were leaving about the standing water in the sink and also in the dishwasher so I'm sure they would have paid attention to it and got it fixed.
you cannot deny the beauty of the location of this place. We had a wonderful trip and the staff was very nice and welcoming. Our room was very comfortable and inviting.
Was clean, with comfortable furniture, great views and necessary items for a quick weekend stay were provided.
