The Huntington Hotel is a taste of 1920's San Francisco luxury preserved into the modern day. Its standards are impeccable and its wonderful Big 4 piano bar and restaurant (themed for the 4 railroad barons of the Central Pacific Line) establish the refined, well-heeled tone of this special hotel experience. The restaurant itself has a mirrored, dark wood interior with ram's horn sconces and leather seating reminiscent of an English gentleman's club -- yet without any trace of stuffiness. The piano bar area is extremely vibrant at the cocktail hour and the pianist is personable and highly skilled. Though the music filters into the restaurant, it does so in a pleasing way that complements an exquisite meal and quiet conversation. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with over-large marble bathrooms, double sinks and large bath and shower facilities. The pool and spa area are a polished gem of beauty, comfort and tranquility. Housekeeping and turndown service is perfect and the staff are most congenial and remind one that the property was once the most exclusive apartment building on Nob Hill. Having enjoyed this hotel at an unbelievably low online rate, I would definitely consider booking it at full fare in the future. While the rooms are luxurious, they are older and short of outlets for the modern electronics-laden traveler. I counted our available outlets at 6 which was just enough for us, but we did have to search to find the last two behind our desk. I also would mention that a Nob Hill location requires more use of taxis than having one's hotel on Union Square. Nob Hill is a steep hike form both Union Square an Fisherman's Wharf. The hotel accommodates this by having a courtesy car available for trips within a one mile radius.

The hotel has a fascinating history. The staff was gracious. The room was large and clean with a great view. The spa facilities are first class. And the Big Four restaurant offers excellent fare in a quiet and comfortable environment from a more elegant era. Internet service was unavailable during my stay, but I understand it was a temporary problem. Parking is expensive, but no more than at any other hotel on Nob Hill.

The service was exemplary - from everyone I encountered - and in no way obsequeous; the room (at the rate I paid) was very good indeed - immensely comfortable and with my requests of windows that open and good views absolutely met in full. The decor, design and furnishings within the hotel were of high quality and very warm and welcoming - and totally in keeping with the period, showing off the dimensions and architectural style to great advantage. Quality of materials throughout and attention to detail was good, However, the bathroom had seen better days many years ago and really let the overall experience down. Whilst it did not bother me particularly, that factor alone would prevent me describing my experience as luxurious, and fell far short of what was delivered throughout the hotel generally. I did not like the fact that (as supposed) because the resident had booked on a fixed rate deal, the mini bar was empty and there were no refreshment faiclities in the room - and nothing offered until the second day when a room service leaflet appeared on the bed. Poor. Otherwise - excellent and I would certainly stay again.

Fantastic service at the restaurant Very unfriendly for kids. Impossible to use the pool if you ar not 16 years old. If you want an hotel for adult only it is a great choice. If you have kids under 16. Chose an other one

extreme loyalty and respect for their guests. room requested was available upon arrival. spa is one-of-a-kind...very relaxing, not to be a snob but the rule of no persons under 16 years allowed makes the expense well worth it. ice machine on our floor was not working...had to descend 2 floors for a bucket of ice. very minor complaint!

The hotel is in a fantastic location with stunning views over the city.It is luxurious whilst also being comfortable. It has a beautiful indoor pool and spa with a small sun terrace. The staff are fantastic. The hotel is spotlessly clean. The bar and restaurant were lovely. On top of all of this the hotel offered excellent value for money given all of these facilities.it was a pleasure to stay there and I look forward to do so again.

Room was a good size, and the whole place was nicely presented. Some nice views of the city. Staff were great - quick and helpful when we asked for things. The fixtures of the hotel are classic, which is nice but it means a few things didn't work so well (E.g) there was only one elevator which took for ever to do anything. The restaurant in the hotel was dark and stuffy - nice food and people but needs a little update.

Great location, nice spa, intimate boutique environment. No waiting for cabs and prompt retrieval of car from valet service. staff seemed formal and a bit condescending, paricularly the concierge. My companions and I were disappointed that there was no coffee maker in the room and free coffee was only provided in the lobby until 7:00 am. Seemed cheap for an expensive luxary hotel to require guests to purchase coffee. As a matterr of convenience, I wished that here was a mirror in the room. Difficult for two or more people to get dressed and ready when the only mirrors were located inside the bathroom. $10 per day for WiFi access, although common these days alwayd strikes me as greedy and excessive.

Location is excellent. Large room w/quality furnishings - nice view. Attentiive, friendly staff but not obtrusive. Fair price except for parking. Facility is classy/old and has aged well. No coffee pot in room. Parking fee is stiff ($45/night!) No real complaints, though.

Great room size, with plenty of comfort within the room. Staff were attentive and helpful (with one exception). Free-to-use Business Centre was available (handy for printing airline online boarding cards). We did not use the in-house restaurant so cannot comment on that. The receptionist who checked us in was slightly dismissive at the end of the procedure. Our keycards stopped working a day early and had to be re-activated; no apologies from receptionist.

I loved the beautiful turn of the century architecture. The rooms were large and comfortable with windows that actually cranked open lending for fresh air in the evening. The room was simply decorated with an elegant touch of historic richness that makes you feel as though you've been transported to another time and place when life moved with an appreciation for the here and now. I didn't care for the fact that we were placed within 2 feet of the elevator shaft. I was prepared for a "Budget" room placement in a luxury hotel with the great price we were offered, but the elevator shaft was located directly behind our headboard and it was active until 2:00 A.m and started right back up at 5:00 A.M.

The view from our windows was marvelous. We appreciated the location and ease of getting on to the trolley. The lobby staff and valet staff were wonderful! Simply wonderful! We had a very short time for a glass of wine or champagne before our limo arrived to pick us up for dinner but the bar was so crowded we were unable to find seats. The noise level in the bar was quite unpleasant
