Beautiful rooms - I liked the decor. Very soft bed. Pretty central location.
This is the only place we stayed in the US where we had to pay for wifi - everywhere else, from the fancy hotels to skeezy motels, the wifi was included. That said, we had access to the wifi in the lobby which was quick and there were plenty of places to sit while you checked your email. Gym facilities and pool very small.
Location, view from our room, quiet & comfortable. Everyone was super friendly & the concierge was very helpful.

No mini bar (only small bottles of water) and this wasn't explained to us so we didn't buy anything to take up to our room
lovely room, good facilities including spa, excellent attentive staff, bar, breakfast.
cost of wi- fi in room
All the staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The E room was very comfortable and well set out. Cleanliness excellent
Would have really liked TEA making facility in room, and had hoped for a pool big enough to swim, but do appreciate physical restrictions
Pillows were a big thick
large room, windows that open!, Ursula the pro, Ulysses, the doorman, who was extremely friendly and attentive, restaurant and Joe, the bartender
A hotel in this category should have original art on the walls!! The cheap, poor quality prints in the room were really annoying and detracted from the elegance of the surroundings; two closets but barely any bathroom counter space
Large comfortable room on first visit. Smaller, but comfortable room on second visit.
First room had the lift shaft in one corner. A bit noisy.
Everything. Nice staff, good accommodations, excellent spa, perfect location (the cable car Californa st. stops right in front of it).
Vanessa, one of the concierge's, was helpful every night with dining and activity recommendations. They all proved to be excellent choices.
The hotel staff replaced my towels--despite the drought and the notecard saying they would not if I kept them on the towel racks.
Very suitable location in quiet and beautiful part of city center, friendly stuff, nice and comfortable room, good breakfast.
SUPER friendly and helpful staff. Amazing room and comfy bed. The business center was a great place to get some work done. Nicely furnished, super clean. Stayed there in part for the pool and unfortunately, never made it there. That just means I'll have to go back. The bar was a lovely place to relax over drinks. Great location. A true San Francisco experience.
The rooms were good size, the staff were amazing. Even the food at their restaurant was good ..
No free wifi in the room. You had to pay 14.95 per Device. Although it was available in the lobby. I still think wifi should be free.
Perfect location, genuinely pleasant and helpful staff, top class facilities, beautiful room, great views. We wanted for nothing for the whole stay.
Nothing to dislike
- Recently renovated hotel - Fun decor - Big rooms - Nice staff - Restaraunt on site. Good was great. - Valet parking
- Room smelled a little musty and was warm - Room was huge but felt oddly laid out. Lots of empty space. - Valet parking is expensive - Restaraunt feels outdated, but the food was good
The location of the hotel is excellent. Room, staff, service and value were tremendous.
I loved the feel of this historic, boutique hotel located in the heart of Nob Hill. The room was spacious and spotless. The Big 4 restaurant was a great evening night cap and we enjoyed getting to know Ty, the friendly and knowledgable bartender. One of the most pleasant experiences I've had in a hotel during my travels. Will definitely stay here again.
very quiet on upper floors.
bathroom could be better for price.
Absolutely every aspect, starting from wonderful welcoming staff at the door outside to the amazing comfort of our room. Spotlessly clean, position in a beautiful area and all staff just so willing to help in any way. Will certainly be recommending to our friends. Ladies go and meet lovely Tina at the Spa too.
Loved that they upgraded us to the top floor with a view because it was our honeymoon. Also, brought us a bottle of champagne upon arrival.
location was great, hotel was tastefully decorated
no free wifi,
Great location, quirky decor and room staff very accommodating, restaurant and bar staff attentive and friendly
Spa staff seemed to resent you getting the floor wet in the pool area. Too many don'ts, I did one lap of the pool and was told not to swim, 2 other people, continued to do laps for a good 15 minutes and no one approached them. The jacuzzi has a sign saying only 3 allowed, I witness 6 people in there and no staff ever approached them. Please be consistent in your rules.
staff, location, value for money
A first class hotel! On arrival we were upgraded to a deluxe room which was great. Newly renovated the room was spacious, carpet was incredibly soft, bed incredibly large and comfortable. Anything requested was delivered immediately to the room quickly and with a smile. All the staff were helpful and friendly. We made use of the spa everyday which was a real bonus- it has a wonderful outside deck for sunbathing a pool, relaxation room, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The turndown service in the evening is a nice touch - it includes fresh towels and bottled water. The bar featured live piano music every evening which was a nice touch- the pianists take requests! The location was amazing- at the top of nob hill the hotel is just a 5 minute walk to a trolley stop and 5 minutes downhill to union square. A fabulous stay, no negative comments!
