Great staff. New building. The noise level was unacceptable. There was noise from the bar on the first floor, but also noise from normal foot traffic in the hallway. There has to be absolutely zero insulation in the place. They did give us a room on a higher floor after I was up until after 2:00 because of the bar noise. The room on the fifth floor was definitely better. They really needed to splurge on new windows when they renovated the building. Who cares about the lovely mural when you're kept up by pulsing music and yelling drunks? They did give us a complimentary bottle of wine and were extremely apologetic. Still, if you stay, bring your earplugs, and do not stay on any of the lower floors. This is too bad because otherwise, the place was outstanding. |

Very good service and nice room with very good bathroom. The lage is excellent for everything important to see. Only one problem is the view from window, really bad, but it is not the hotel`s fault. As I wrote, the view from window is really bad. |

Charming hotel. Great room. Loved the free WFI, microwave/refrigerator in room, breakfast delivered to your room. Convenient business center to print airline boarding tickets. Staff were helpful with recommendations for resturants and getting cabs. The hotel was conveniently located near the convention center, historic areas, and the train station...10-15 minute walks. |

It was in a good neighborhood Noise pounding until 3 am from club on 1st floor - underneath our room - impossible to sleep - horrible, horrible, horrible!!! No adjustment on expensive room charge, either - no apology- no sleep - nothing! |

It was a good location. We ususally stay closer to the historic destrict but this was good for mid-down.venues. The room we had was dark, narrow, and gloomy (Rm 309). Tried to open the blimds (pretty thick layer of dust) but they stuck - didn't matter, view was an abandoned building next door. Requested a room change but was told hotel was booked 3 days. Maybe other rooms are nicer but bad enough experience that we won't go back. |

Excellent location, great hospitality, beautiful room, great price. We were on the 2nd floor which is above a nightclub. It was extremely loud until 2am. I'd stay here again but only if I were on a higher floor. |

Hotel staff was great, very helpful and accommodating. Complimentary breakfast was brought to the room after being ordered the night before. Great location, central to the city. There is a nightclub attached to the hotel, and the music was rocking until late at night. My wife fell asleep quickly, although it took me a while to fall asleep with the noise. |

The location and the modern decor of the hotel. Shower was superb and the obvious effort of the owners to maintain a high standard of accommodation Breakfast was not very good at all. It was obviously bulk bought, cheap and nasty. It would have needed just a little bit more effort to supply something better - but not tye greatest problem in the world |

The hotel staff was accommodating and ultra-helpful. And the neighborhood was full of great places to eat and within walking distance to City Hall, Rittenhouse, and Old City historical destinations. So much fun! |

This hotel is in a prime location for visitors wishing to explore Center City and South Philadelphia by foot since most everything is within a mile. The hotel's nearby parking affiliate is convenient and affordable. The design of the hotel is contemporary and attractive (think designs featured on HGTV). In particular, the rooms featured hardwood floors, floor-to-ceiling curtains and custom bed linens in fun colors. The shower was very pleasant because it included two high-pressure shower heads. I obtained a very favorable rate through Booking.com, which made this hotel an outstanding value as against hotels two blocks away along Broad St. The hotel is affiliated with the 12th St Gym for providing workout facilities. Although the gym is apparently highly rated by locals, it doesn't open until 8am on the weekends, which makes an early morning workout impractical for visitors looking to lift weights before scarfing down some french toast in the Italian Market. Moreover, while the bed was comfortable, the pillows were lumpy and I had a terrible headache the next day from resulting neck strain. I later found that the hotel offers pillow options. The bathroom and A/C were very noisy, but helped block out street sounds. Finally, there are no safes in the rooms. |

A very pleasant and helpful staff. Design is modern but warm and inviting. A modest continental breakfast is delivered at the time of your choice, and there is a wine and cheese offering on weekday evenings. The hotel has an arrangement for convenient parking ($15/night) 1/2 block away. Although it didn't bother us, our corner room was a bit noisy at night. |

The room is beautiful and very relaxing. Enjoyed the evening wine and cheese and continental breakfast delievered to the room, Direct TV, big bathroom, big bed, hardwood floors and terry cloth robes. Loved it!!! This did not bother us but may bother some. The hotel is in the gay area of town. The hotel is a non-smoking hotel so my husband would smoke outside. He was propositioned by some men while standing on the corner smoking. However, no one harrassed him when he said no. |

The Independent has got to be one of the best deals in Philadelphia: unique and beautiful rooms, free wifi and wine in the evenings, and a quick, easy and cheap (free, again!) breakfast at your door in the morning. Add to that a great location and easy-going, responsive, and thoughtful staff and you've got a winner. |
