Score from 466 reviews Very good
Staff was very friendly. Free vine tasting every evening. Big bathroom. Breakfast in bed on time.
The location is excellent, right in the center Close to restaurants. The style of the hotel i magnificent.
Room was very comfortable, location excellent, walking distance to City Hall, Reading Market and subway stop.
Unfortunately the room was not tidied up at all due to a house keeping issue. Had to ask for clean towels, breakfast plates etc to be cleaned up.
The heat system was lousy. With 12 feet ceilings and hot air, the roof was hot, the room cold.
I LOVED the location and the size (small/boutique). The staff was friendly. Free wi-fi. Parking was easy and affordable.
The room was pleasant and comfortable. Decor was charming. Literature about Philadelphia was informative. Local restaurants were good. Convenience to convention center and transportation was adequate.
The lights in the bathroom didn't work well. The noise level in the street at night was annoying. The immediate neighborhood seemed unsafe and a bit desolate. Service was uneven -- bathroom items not replaced, wastebaskets not lined, breakfast service not punctual. Nothing horrible. The temperature control system was quite noisy, and it depended on blowing very cool air into the room at frequent intervals.
very warm and helpful staff
Joyce front desk went out of her way to help me dry my rainsoaked shoes. Staff modified breakfast to fit my needs. Nice occitane lotions/soaps. Superb location to walk everywhere
Advertised wine n cheese on web listing but no cheese. Advertised herbal teas but none available at beverage setup in lobby. Limited breakfast options. Desk had broken drawer. Bathroom lights were not working properly and were not fixed after reporting it.
location excellent and Dan at reception very helpful
Nightclub across the road, open every night.
Good stay. Very welcoming. Noisy outside late at night. Many thanks. Ann
Everything! From fantastic friendly staff, free breakfast and wi-fi to unbeatable price and location. If you are after a great hotel that captures the very essence of Philly then this is the only place to stay. I can stay in a Marriott or Holiday Inn any where in the world, I can only stay at the Independent in Philly - in Philly. Loved it, loved it, loved it!!
Nothing! Unlike my colleagues staying at the Marriott, Holiday Inn, Sheraton, etc. I was thrilled with my accommodation and didn't have a single moan or gripe!!
Location Room Wi Fi Staff
Room was not cleaned until late in the afternoon. Breakfast basket was ok but not much choice and no plate to eat off!
I lived in Philly for almost 20 years, but never knew about this hotel.; I have stayed in other area hotels, but I will not again after staying in this hotel! The location was close to the center of the city, 2 blocks from subway, 2 blocks from the performing arts, 3-4 blocks from shopping. Yet after all of that not too noisy. Decorations were modern and comfortable, not the typical hotel standard. Loved it!!!!!
I liked the tall ceilings and the writing desk.
Night light in bathroom would not turn off.
Complimentary wine and cheese in the evening - a nice gesture. Big room and excellent location.
The walls were quite thin - luckily our neighbours were not very loud.
Staff very kind and solicitous. Excellent accomodations.
Great base for exploring Philly!
Staff very welcoming and friendly, Felt like a small family run hotel. Quiet and comfortable in the heart of a very young and fashionable district.
Courteous staff and very helpful. Location is good and gives access to great locations.
QVery friendly welcome and helpful staff; nice homely rooms with lots of character; staff very friendly; no breakfast room so you order your breakfast the night before which I actually liked, and you also get a fridge and microwave in your room; lovely area of town.
Nothing - I really enjoyed my stay!
Great location, stylish decor, large room, free breakfast delivered to the room, good water pressure in showers
Lots of street noise and hallway noise if you're close to the elevator, but earplugs were provided
The staff was excellent, very friendly and knowledgeable. Thomas made us feel very welcomed. The hotel in the middle of everything. My wife and I were able to walk to all the restaurants, shops and attractions. The room was very nice with original brick in the bathroom which added alot of charm.
Good location and close to city center, good bed
Poor breakfast served to room only, noisy air-condition, some parts of equipment seem to be not finished and working, specially the windows not possible to close. Expensive parking around and occupied parking slots all the time in front of the hotel to take the luggage from a car at least.
This hotel is close to everything we wanted to do in the downtown area. The breakfast in bed is a great touch!
This is such a lovely hotel-- tastefully decorated, spacious room with nice wooden floor, a mini fridge and a great coffee machine. (they also got tea!) wifi is fast. The location is awesome. Staffs are friendly and helpful. The hotel itself got a cool and comfy vibe. I will definitely go back and stay for longer if I visit Philly again.
because of its great location it can be noisy at night, but they got earplugs so it was fine for me.
