The Inn on 23rd  

The staff. The library was a nice place to meet guests at breakfast time. The breakfasts were great and superb value. Lovely feeling about the place and nice local bar on ground floor. Very quite for such a central location. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The location couldn't have been better particularly the proximity to subways. It has a lift. The rooms were huge for New York. Coffee and cakes available throughout the day and evening.

There was really nothing that we didn't like although my wife would have preferred the room to be a little lighter although we appreciate this is difficult in the middle of New York. The decor of the room probably didn't help with the bare brick walls but this was purely personal preference.

The hotel seemed to be a labour of love and a pleasant change from the usual corporate hote.

Great hotel in a lovely area of town. We especially liked the quirky friendliness of the hotel. A wonderful place to stay, we would definitely stay again.

The Guilty Goose is more of a bar (a very good one) than a restaurant. There are better places on 23rd street and 7th and 8th avenue within 10 minutes walk of the hotel where you can eat better and cheaper.

Very relaxed ambience and lovely big rooms. Great place to sit and relax in hotel. This is the best nyc hotel we have stayed in by a mile.

A fridge in the room would be great but this is only a very small point in what is an outstanding hotel.

Very nice small family hotel in the heart of New York. Feels like home away from home, each room individually decorated, really nice and comfortable. Stayed for a long weekend with my husband, we will definitely come back and stay att The Inn on 23rd again.

Drawn by the location, description of rooms and facilities, we then asked if we could have a room prepared with fragrance-free linens, products and amenities. The owners and staff went to great lengths to make sure our room was fragrance free - much appreciated!

Bed was a teense too soft.

Very incredible hotel with lots of features and antiques. We love everything here! The cat Dorothy is welcoming to us and the owner's grand daughter is a treasure for the guests in the hotel

The perks are wonderful here. Complimentary wine and cheese (and salmon!) at cocktail hour everyday. Very nice library/breakfast room with windows looking out to the street and all of the most current magazines and papers. Our room on the 5th floor also had a huge skylight which gave the room tremendous natural light.

Our room was very very hot when we arrived. Also an alarm clock (which we had not touched) went off at 6:30 a.m. and scared the hell out of us. That wasn't very pleasant.

Location, great ambience, great staff. Special thanks to Paula who went out of her way to help. Endless tea & coffee & cake 24/7 and we enjoyed the Goose restaurant downstairs too. The Inn felt like a real home from home: would definitely stay there again.

Not a big grumble but the bed could have been firmer. It was in really good condition but quite soft and with 2 in it I found it quite hard to sleep well.

Friendly, clean, well located, charmimg family photos & decor

...... it had the feeling of a " ski resort " ...... very relaxed and personal .... Annette was a most charming hostess ..... enjoyed the " Guilty Goose " restaurant & bar downstairs ....... great shower ... comfortable bed ...........

Very comfortable and clean, with interesting decor. Extremely conveniently situated near Metro station.

Friendly staff

This was a very quirky place, fabulous in all respects.

Each room was wonderfully decorated in a different way, but without the clutter of many inns. Very comfortable sitting area in our room, large and bright. Great location. Near wonderful restaurants, galleries, many subway lines.

Staff was welcoming and charming. Breakfasts were delicious. Loved the European feel of the whole experience. The room was nicely decorated and very clean. Infinitely nicer than a big chain hotel!

Water pressure was a bit low--but we know that's common in New York. Mattress was just a little soft for us. But really, we're nit-picking here. Loved it and would recommend it and return ourselves.

The staff were extremely helpful and courteous; centrally located; clean; good basic breakfast.

We have stayed twice at The Inn on 23rd. The first time, my wife had challenged me to find accommodations in Manhattan with character and charm. I succeeded. We would gladly stay again.

From the moment we arrived we felt at home. The reception staff are very friendly and try to help in every way possible. The rooms are very elegantly decorated and as it is a small hotel you fell like part of a family.

The concierge wasoutstanding. He provided us with many details about the hotel and the city that were extremely helpful. He was friendly and articulate. He was easy to talk to. The room was clean and comfortable. It has personality unlike the chain hotels. The breakfast was just right! The library area was lovely - it was welcoming - wish we had more time to spend there.
