The moment I opened the door I felt at home. I have travelled quite a bit around the world and this is truly a rare thing. Extremely kind staff felt like a family since day one + international guests made my stay very interesting day after day. As a creative professional I enjoyed the beautiful and unique designed room I stayed in. I found Harlem to be safe, full life and a very interesting place to discover. That's definitely a great choice to stay in NYC.
It's really hard to say goodbye :( and hit the road.
We stayed nine nights for more than 2000 USD. There is a service fee of about 14%, which is more than 300 USD，but they don't even apply service on a daily base. The most absurd thing is that the hotel charges us 3% of transaction fee and clamied it was charged by credit card company. However we confirmed with the card company that was not true, I guess the transaction fee was because the hotel use paypal to pay.
Location and comfort
Staff was friendly and always available.
For a tourist, there was no information on what to do around the area or travel tips. The staff was however, always willing to offer information.
The hotel is not central but only two blocks away from a main subway line. It is Harlem but the neighborhood was OK. It is a quiet place, no earplugs needed (even if I am a light sleeper).
The room is not isolated at all. If you are not small, you will bump into things all the time (low ceilings). Internet and television did not work well (I did not mind but if you count on it, it might be a problem). They did not answer my mail telling the time we would arrive, so I was worried they would be closed. We had foreseen a little more than the price of the room in cash to be able to pay directly, but we finally did not have enough because they added taxes and wanted a $150 guarantee. We then had to pay by credit card but they use Paypal for this and add another $100. So this hotel will cost you way more than expected, and the size and quality of the room is not worth the price. They use cheap materials that break easily and may hurt you (like plumbing tubes for decoration, with still old tags on them). They were also a bit fussy and impolite about "absolutely not moving the objects of the room", even the ugly fake flowers on the only space where you could put your things.
The apartment is really sweet and comfortable, and convenient when we want to cook by ourselves. The staff was helpful!
At first, it was really cold until we ask for the heat. The neighborhood is kind of remote. The floor was pretty high when we had to bring our cases upstairs it seemed really tired.
I loved the comfortable atmosphere of the room and building. The staff was wonderful and very friendly/helpful. I felt like I knew them from before. I also loved the location. It is very central to many Harlem highlights.
I found several hairs in the bed and on the shower wall. The room and hotel was very clean otherwise.
The price good compare to location (manhattan) and it takes 20 mins to times square by metro. The metro station so close. The room so quiet and clean. The ladies who work there was very nice am gonna keep touch with them :) . As what she said " when u come to nyc again thats your home"
It was rather easy to get around. The subway station was near by.
There was no table in my room and therefore no where to sit at and eat properly. The air conditioning made loud noise, I couldn't keep on during the night. No lift. The lock of the door didn't seem very safe and no safety deposite box in the room.
