The couple running this small hotel is absolutely great. The breakfast was delicious and the overall atmosphere was very friendly. We ordered the queen room under impression it has two beds. It had only one but we managed it :)

Very friendly and informative host. Great place to stay if you enjoy interacting with other travellers. The upstairs rooms had thin walls, we could hear the conversation in the room next door.

Wonderful hospitality from John and Dawn. Quirky bed & breakfast with an Alice in Wonderland Theme, great rooms, individually furnished and each different with their own personality and very comfortable. Nice surprise to find a car park and lovely garden and walking distance into town and the pier. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely stay there again. nothing we didn't like.

The early evening drinks and canapes with a chance to talk to the other guests, the evening milk and cookies, all presented as free. The proximity to Cannery Row for the Aquarium. The help from a staff member booking an evening meal, unfortunately not a good choice, could not tell from menu. Comfortable room and good furnishings. Was looking forward to the Alice in Wonderland theme advertised, in fact this was minimal. Property had been taken over already themed by current owners and did not appear to be an enthusiasm of theirs and it showed. The breakfast gave no choice at all and was a melon salad, acompanied by a fruit smoothie and followed by a "french toast" with blueberries which was an enormous lump of soggy sweet eggy bread, the only appetising part being the crispy top, altogether too much sugar for a breakfast for me! The fact that only 1 person on the communal table out of 7 finished this says it all. Finally on departure we were given the type of credit card slip with space for a tip which it was suggested we used. As I was rather embarrassed I did leave a smallish one, no thanks was given for this. I am happy to leave something for the room staff at larger hotels but don't think it appropriate in a b&b when the profit goes to the owners. I felt the wine etc ended up being far from included in the quoted price.

Host couple are wonderful people who care greatly about their guests. Very complete service and they responded fully to any request. Beautiful house, great location above Cannery Row and Monterey Bay. Terrific experience, great people, and a wonderful stay. Great social wine/snack hour every afternoon/evening. Would have liked an option or two for breakfast, for this price. What was served was very good but a small choice would have been nice.

Wonderful stay, and the amenities were pleasantly surprising--hors d'oeuvres and free drinks in the evening, milk and cookies before bed and the most memorable breakfast I've ever had!

The Jabberwock is a highly recommended B&B alternative to the 'normal' hotel accommodation that one may expect to stay in. Friendly, welcoming and certainly different, if not unique in its decor and charm. The Jabberwock may not be everyone's cup of tea when it comes to accommodation expectations, so you, the reader, are doing exactly the right thing by reading this and other reviewer's comments before committing to this down-the-rabbit-hole experience. The Jabberwock was by far the most unusual accommodation choice and it made our holiday more memorable and enjoyable; for example, the opportunity to sit down to chat and relax with our fellow guests over complimentary (and tasty) evening canapes and wine, and the Waltons-style family breakfast Not a dislike but rather a recommendation: A number of other reviewers have commented on the, 'I wonder what I'll be served at the breakfast table?" and the potential awkwardness over being served something not to the guest's liking. This thought also crossed our minds and we suggest a breakfast menu left in the guest's bedrooms would perhaps put to rest any concerns.

Very helpful & friendly owners. Lovely old house with plenty of character. Excellent facilities. Magical breakfasts with Jabber-juice! Room was rather small lacking storage space. There was no en-suite facilities though it had a separate private bathroom.

The owners John and Dawn are so warm and inviting. They create such a wonderful atmosphere and make it so much more than just a place to sleep. We enjoyed hanging out and chatting with the other guests during the wine and hor dorvuers hour and during the amazing gourmet breakfasts each morning. I don't like to wake up earlier than 10am on vacation, but I made it a point to get myself down to breakfast each day so I wouldn't miss out on the new breakfast creation. Not much to complain about here. We got one of the larger rooms and it was very comfortable. However, I did have to go out and buy a small bottle of conditioner as they only provided shampoo and soap.

We loved so many things about The Jabberwock. The whole house was fascinating to be in - the 'Alice in Wonderland' theme was carried right throughout every room. John and Dawn were very attentive hosts. It was fun meeting people from all round the world at breakfast time. There were many little touches that made our stay special. The home-made cookies, the jelly beans, the wine and canapés, the extremely comfortable bed were just a few. It is within easy walking distance of all the interesting parts of Monterey. John and Dawn were very helpful when we wished to arrange a visit to somewhere. Nothing really. It can be a little bit daunting at breakfast to be faced with a table full of strangers and to engage in conversation with them if you are not normally particularly gregarious.

Drinks on the veranda were great. We were given a Very small room at the top of a narrow staircase. We booked many months ago and felt we should have been given a better room. No choice at breakfast.

Heel persoonlijke ontvangst, lekker kleinschalig.
