The carpets etc were very dirty when we arrived. The wifi didn't worked at all and the worst part was the night. The hotel is in the middle of the party centre and you can here everything through the windows. If you want to make party it's ok, but if not stay away.
Enjoyed my stay will most likely stay here again!
The restroom smelled a little weird. But other wise stay was great!
The staff here is very friendly and on top of all issues; nice walk to San Diego Convention Center; right in the heart of Gas Lamp District; rooms are clean
The 7 AM continental breakfast is too late for most business travelers; lack of on site dining/room service a bit of a drawback; the gym is off site as well but a nice facility
I loved the jacuzzi tub!!! Relaxing in the tub with some music felt awesome. The room was beautiful with all the decor and the location of the room was on the corner of 5th and F. Very central in the heart of the gaslamp. The staff was welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend The Keating!
There's nothing I didn't like about this place!
Great contemporary hotel. The shower was incredible.
Novelties like the expresso machine (once you learned how to use it), artesan water from Norway, channel variety on HTV.
I waited 30 min after I checked in for someone to come to my room and explain the amenities then had to leave for the Convention Center. But someone gave me an orientation upon my return the next day.
Hospitality, comfort, modern amenities. Helpful and friendly staff.
Parking was expensive. When we arrived, staircase was filthy, but staff was on it about an hour after we checked in.
The breakfast was very light.
Cindy at the front desk She fixed all the flaws
White chips everywhere No hand towels Noise at night
Bed was comfortable. The shower head. Modern design. The view.
Smaller than expected. Towels would shed. Water would come out of the shower. Phone charger did not work. Difficult to find breakfast area.
Location, Design, Atmosphere, Friendliness of staff
Resort fee for a hotel that isn't a resort at all, Door lock was not functioning and wasn't replaced for the entire stay, no possibility to switch light on/off from bed
Good location, walking distance to convention center.
Room 2H is directly above a lounge, and it was loud every night until 2:00 AM when it closed = poor night's sleep. Also surprised by an extra $18/night charge for incidentals that I missed in the fine print from booking.com. I would not stay here again.
The room was awesome and quite unique. I was in 2G and it had this cool bathtub in the living area. Even though I was on the second floor my room was quite quiet. The staff was great!! Plus it is located in a perfect location in the heart of the glass light district. Tons on bars and great restaurants within a few steps of the front door.
The fact i was only there one night!
I loved how friendly the staff was! best experience! Ill def be back to stay here! & I loved the Shower head!!
Great location and cool hotel.
No lobby. Internet was out. Loud from outside noise, so may not be great for everyone.
The location. The shower. The desk staff and valets are awesome.
All said, if you're a guy in your 20's with a bunch of money, this is your place. Amazing location by lots of bars and good restaurants. Everyone else: The "free" gift bag, fancy in-room coffee maker and wifi, etc., are actually charged to you at $18.99/night. So for wifi, a coffee maker I never had a use for (and would start bubbling and pouring a little water randomly throughout the night), 3 small bottles of water and 3 pairs of crazy flipflops (all in the gift bag) I'll never use, I paid $59.97 (plus tax). What a scam. This hotel has one target demographic: 25-year-old guys. It's cool (if you're a 25-year-old guy), but the rooms feel like a dorm room. All concrete and white walls. No rugs or carpet. The shower is in the living area. Also, my teen girls were terrified of the place. We saw no one around ever. It felt like we were the only ones in the hotel. The place is so quiet and stark and eerie (hallways are painted black!), they were sure it was haunted. Also, the complimentary breakfast is Fruity Pebbles and yogurt and bananas (again, perfect for a guy in his 20's). I was also charged for items from the mini bar we never used ($10.95 for one bottle of water!). The movies-on-demand system does not work (we were finally informed after spending an hour trying to get it to work), and their "room service" (which they advertise and have a button for on their phones) works like this: you call, they print out menus from the internet and bring them to your room, you go on a website on your own and order food through a 3rd party, who charges you $4.95 per restaurant you order from and takes an hour to get it to you (that part wasn't a surprise, it did say that right on that company's website). The whole thing takes about 90 minutes from your call to the front desk to the delivery. Major disappointment. There is nothing comfortable about this place. The design aesthetic is hip and cool, I'll give them that.
I loved the location.
I didn't like the 32 dollar a night parking fee. The 18 dollar a night convince fee which was supposed to include a breakfast that didn't exist. The historic tax fee on top of a city tax. Basically I could have stayed an extra night with what they charged. The Keating also sits in front of a bar that gets a little too crazy. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, don't stay here. Plus there is a homeless (mentally ill) population that also exists in downtown San Diego. Just be aware of your surroundings!!!
Location, you can stay with pets, old building very beautiful
Loud, very loud!
Extremely neat and nice rooms.
Very central place and thus extremely noisy in the nights. Nearly impossible to sleep even with earplugs. Fits only if you want to party, but not otherwise.
Noise (have to wear earplugs)
The staff was always there to make sure I was happy.
The breakfast was one guy cooking very tasty meals but looked a little disorganized and constantly had to go to another room to retrieve items.
I've stayed in many three, four star properties in San Diego and the Keating is one of my favorites! They've got a great hot, breakfast that's made to order, the bed is a little piece of heaven, and the edgy, sophisticated decor of the room is an inspiring atmosphere. I got this room at a great price so it made me feel like I made out like a bandit!
Right in the action of party-central, Gaslamp district. Not necessarily a bad thing if you like lively environments. They provide ear plugs in a cute case. Plus the comfy bed will put you sleep quickly.
Stylish hotel in Gaslamp quarter. Good to party, not a place to sleep.
The location and building are amazing. The front desk staff are quite helpful and informal.
The room was ill-prepared. The coffee machine was broken, the phone did not work, and the staff failed to stock the shower with shampoo (but thanks for the extra conditioners).
