Great staff led by an outstanding hotel manager (Brenda)
Cold weather ;))
very helpful staff delicious breakfast a really nice to have a non-chain hotel experience, chain hotels are so boring.
would have been nice to have some activities at hand (deck of cards, board games) to entertain children
Bed, room, lounge, restaurant, breakfast. Decorations in memory of the original fire station.
weak flow of water to shower which was not hot enough.
The breakfast is nice and the coffee is good. The location is perfect. Our son is a student at MIT so it is convenient for him to fit us into his busy schedule. The T stop to the red line is just steps away so you can get to the Kendall from the airport free!
The wine selection could be expanded.
Wifi is free, and fast.
Loved the Americana decorations and the fresh pastries for breakfast.
Interesting history. Wonderful art and "things" to look at and appreciate. Great place to meet and just watch people. Great breakfast and helpful staff. Excellent location and parking.
Room was a little tight for two.
The old world charm
No amenities like room service
Some of staff excellent e.g. Odair, Anita and Alex. Otherwise totally disinterested, and very disorganised. They are complacent in attitude.
The hotel is very noisy. The rooms though nicely decorated can be noisy. It is not a good location for seeing Boston, and some of the staff are just totally unhelpful. Think they are resting on their laurels from guaranteed business from MIT.Harvard.
The hotel is lovely and designed very well. It was good amenities, with a nice breakfast choice. The room was very comfortable and welcoming.
It was a bit of a walk to any good restaurants/bars. Although we really liked the hotel we'd book somewhere in the more genteel areas of Boston itself.
Ambience Rooms Decor Breakfast
Restaurant and bar not open on Sunday evening
Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. "Free" breakfast.
The room was good very clean & the bed was comfortable
Did not like having to use paper cups & having no kettle. Our room was on 7th floor & was at the side of elevator that made a humming noise all night & so was the fridge
character, staff overall ambiance.
water pressure and cold water
Our room was a nice size with two comfortable chairs for watching tv or reading, there was a fabulous buffet breakfast, the bed linens were a high grade comfortable cotton, the bathroom was roomy. Location was very convenient to the T. We were very pleased with the Kendall Hotel.
A bit on the high side cost wise, however, everything close in to Boston is expensive. So you pay for the convenience of the location.
Independent hotel with charm and character, not stereotypical. Very comfortable rooms and bed. Friendly staff. Well located with subway a few steps away and eating places all around, including the small (but good) hotel restaurant.
Breakfast plentiful but rather monotonous over a few days. Last time there was far more fresh fruit and freshly made pancakes to order. Whole hotel experience was crazily expensive, but Boston and Cambridge are expensive to stay in. Some noise and hum from electrical equipment in the room and from the vents of other buildings behind the hotel.
Quirky building, central location near T station, excellent service, convenient garage
it was all good!
Great location a short walk into Cambridge itself to the shopping mail and just across the road was the T System which was easy to use. A very warm welcome by the staff and help too. Would recommend this unique "boutique" style hotel - great "poster" bed. Loved the room we stayed in. On site parking located under the hotel. Nice décor throughout the hotel.
Size and comfort of bed, good nights sleep after busy day sightseeing.
1.Female guest services staff member not at all helpfull. When cable TV went down we asked for help, she told us there was nothing she could do as the whole hotel was down, but when we spoke to other guests they confirmed what we suspected, that it was only our room!!! After then scrabbling around at the back of the chest of drawers where the cable box was plugged in I turned off & then on and hey presto TV was back on, so thanks for the help Kendall!! 2. Location very poor if you wish to eat somewhere else other than the hotel, as their food was expensive with delusions of grandeur. 3. Breakfast poor, with rude staff, I asked if there was any strawberry jam as the container was empty, and was told no with look of contempt, I asked if there was anything else and was also told there was no jam full stop! Also restuarant area was impractical for breakfast as it is a long way away from where the buffet was laid out down some stairs or a ramp. 3. No hot water in the shower morning or night! When we mentioned it, there was no apology, the same female on the front desk told us to run the shower for 20 minutes or so to get the water to run hot, this is not acceptable in a hotel that charges these sort of high end prices. As far as I am concerned this hotel is suitable only for the techies that appear to stay there from out of town on obvious company expense accounts, but the area is not good for anything else. If your looking for a sightseeing hotel, then look downtown!!
The fantastic friendly staff they made us so welcome. Food was delicious and the breakfast enough to fill you for the day!
I thought the food was a little on the pricey side hence we only ate here once
This building used to be a fire station, and now as a hotel, they have incorporated the fire station theme. The staff was very helpful. Wi-fi worked very well and didn't require a complicated sign-in. The bathroom was spacious. I didn't plan to have breakfast at the hotel, though I assume it was very good as the restaurant was full.
There was no closet in my room. I woke up around 6am to the vibrations of the subway running beneath the building.
Great builing, facilities you woht bevdissapoihted
The staff at the Buffet breakfast seemed to be in a hurry to close the service room. All over the world, the staff normally has the courtesy to ask the guests at the published closing time if they need anything as they are about to close the breakfast service. There was no such courtesy shown here.At 09:55, they closed the room on all the three mornings that we were there. I failed to see what was the hurry about?? Secondly, I had wanted to extend my stay by another day and I was told that it would be at a considerable higher cost which was a bit strange. Finally I moved to another hotel in a similar location for less price!!!
Independent, locally owned so somewhat unique Excellent breakfast Close to good public transportation
great breakfast, excellent wifi, good bed and convenient location
our room, in the old fire station part of the hotel, was very small, had only a tiny window up high so there was little natural light and had a very low angled beam in the ceiling so that you have to duck every time you moved. Not all the rooms are like that but for almost $250/night I would have hoped for more
