The staff were every friendly and helpful/ The newly refurbished rooms are lovely with great beds, pillows and showers and big TVs. The place has a nice atmosphere, the restaurant/bar is good and overall it is a very nice place to stay. The old rooms are crummy (but soon they will all have been refurbished) The as yet unrefurbished public areas are a bit worn, but again soon they will shiny and new.. The lifts are too slow, and despite the double glazing, I found the traffic noise to be intrusive in the bedroom

Location and friendly, professional staff ( excluding the Bistro ). Whoever determined to keep the hotel open ( at full tariff rates ) whilst undergoing MAJOR refurbishment ( elevators and public areas were a construction site and filthy ) needs to re-think. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE, at least until the works are finished around mid-year.

Super location, charming decor, hotel DNA, Houston landmark. Won't stay anywhere else while in Houston. In fact, going back in 2 weeks just for pleasure. Nothing!

Historic hotel. Very gracious staff. Wonderful complimentary breakfast. The most comfortable bed! Unique; not a cookie cutter hotel. Views of dt Houston. Proximity to Houston Arts center. A lovely, unique, historic hotel. Felt as if we were in a European hotel. The windows in the hotel room. Brass bath fixtures and marble floors! Remodeling, but that did not impede our enjoyment of the stay.

The hotel was gorgeous and the staff very helpful and friendly. The complimentary breakfast was a full buffet rather than a continental breakfast. The complimentary shuttle service was fast and the drivers very courteous and helpful. There was a free wine hour in the evening and room service was prompt. This was the very best experience I've ever had at a hotel! Absolutely nothing!

The service was impeccable. I already answered another questionnaire mentioning the lack of "warmth" of the restaurant hostess at breakfast time. A minor thing overall but she could use a smile.

Location of the hotel and the comfort of the king sized bed. The deluxe room was still very small. I noticed some small cosmetic issues in the restroom, but I assume this was due to the age of the building/amenities themselves.

Overall charm of the hotel and excellent service provided by the staff. Great location for sightseers and for theatre goers as well. Our shower was malfunctioning on our first morning and the situation was repaired within 20 minutes of our call to the front desk. That's impressive! Street noise

Location - center of the city of Houston. Staff - friendly, helpful, accommodated me for an early check-in and called me on my cell phone as promised. Hotel Lobby - nice and quiet place to sit and wait for someone, wifi is free am without password required. Fresh Granny Smith and Red Delicious apples in a basket on the registration counter, pitcher of water in the middle of the lobby as well as coffee in the morning (could use more frequent refilling) Breakfast - included, better than continental but lacks variety: scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon, a selection of yogurts, sliced fruit consisting of honeydew melon and watermelon, hot cereal, cold cereal and granola, a selection of baked pastries, bread available by request (wheat or sourdough) water, orange juice, milk and coffee. Inside the room (303) - bed with desk and small table with chairs, standard. No mini bar, no refrigerator or safe. Good sized closet, other standard amenities. The doormen - at times like a posse of four which seems grossly unnecessary and intimidating and at other times none to be found. When they are there, they are endlessly too busy on their cell phones texting to notice that you have arrived and often scramble to open the door for you or rush to open the secondary inside door - not very professional. Breakfast - lacks variety. Gym - poorly maintained, very old equipment, rusting, consisting of a free-weights rack (dumbbells), a stair climber and a stationary bike as well as stretching mats and other accessories. There are clean towels, and a water dispenser, the ice machine for the hotel is located in this area so expect interruptions by hotel guests barging into the gym looking for ice. Curiously the floor is uneven and you'll find that you do not have a choice of grade as thus running on an incline on the treadmill. There is one television for the gym room with cable service. Bathroom - barely any water pressure at all with faucets fully opened. Bathrooms need urgent revamp.. Bath tub anti-slip design was dirty and several shades darker than the rest of the tub, rust marks by the sink faucets and drain in tub, hole in the middle of the ceiling in tub area with a small pipe protruding out of it, nice toilet design though, however a bit too low to the ground.

The Lancaster provided us with the luxury of old world charm. We enjoyed the attitude of the staff which was friendly...and coupled with a can do attitude. It was quiet...yet it reaped of a travel into yesterday. Surrounded by art, along with relics, we felt quite at home

Location in downtown Houston was perfect. Overall appearance of the hotel was good. It suited my needs perfectly. Renovation noises were constant even on Saturday morning. They charged $2.50 a bottle for water that was placed in the room. The rooms were small. I requested a sofa bed and did not get it or a response.

We wanted celebrated our 22nd Wedding Anniversary in downtown Houston. The Lancaster was a perfect selection in that we walk to the theater, they provided transport to our dinner, and placed us within walking distance of many of the best bars in town.
