I think I can safely say I agree with most of the reviews about the Lodge. Sofie, the receptionist/manager really makes the place what it is. The main reason I chose the Lodge was because it was the cheapest place I could find in what is a very smart area. I don't think I had realised quite how smart the area is - very boutiquey with cute shops and beautiful houses. So, relatively speaking the Lodge was good value. However, I have stayed in more comfortable places for the same money or less in other areas of the States. So I guess you pay for the location. But it is very clean and certainly "does the job". Breakfast is nothing special but better quality than many "continental" breakfasts I have had in various motels. You get muffins, raisin bread, cereals, oats, tea, coffee and juice. But these are superior muffins to most you get in motels. That all said though, were it not for Sofie I would probably have come away thinking "well, that was alright". As it was, however, I came away thinking, I enjoyed myself there. Travelling as a single female, I really appreciated Sofie's friendly, outgoing and helpful nature. She was a pleasure to have a chat with, always wanting to help you make the best of your stay and give advice about good places to eat and pretty places to visit. So, in terms of the lodge itself, I would say physically nothing special, but for somewhere like Kennebunkport it is relatively good value. in terms of staff, however, I would say this is where it comes into its own. You can stay at the smartest places but if the staff are unfriendly it can really taint your stay. Here, however, you come away with the unexpected feeling that you had a really nice time at The Lodge at Turbat's Creek.

A continental breakfast was provided, nothing special, most ate in their room. Gave good information on the area - especially free parking in Kennybunkport. Needed to drive to places of interest and not easy to find parking, I would think it almost impossible in the Summer - only one free parking lot.

We loved the location, not far from downtown Kennybunkport which is why we chose the lodge.Sophie was wonderful. Very friendly, helped us with the maps, where the good places to go where. What a great person to have at the desk, she was great. I like it's rusticness, the heated pool. We will stay there again. This is not really a complaint but a suggestion; the rooms smell like bleach, I'm sure they are using it or something like it to clean, but you need to get rid of that smell. The rooms were clean, although they could run a mop along the ceilings and corners we found a lot of dead spiders. We were happy with the room, these are just my observations. Also, I think I would stay at the other end of the Lodge when we are there again, it is a little noisy by the street end, which is not your fault. It was the traffic.

Quiet, clean hotel. The hotel lost electricity (due to the hurricane) while i was there. They sent me to a 'sister' hotel in Kennebunkport that had electricity. it was very nice. The fact that they went the extra mile to make sure my stay was a good one (by moving me) is so seldom seen! thank you!

The staff (especially Sophie) were fabulous. very friendly and accommodating. The room was nicely decorated for the rate class that this facility is in. The bathroom looks newly remodeled and is very spacious and tasteful. The location is very peaceful - away from the bustle of Kennebunkport, but within easy driving distance. The mattresses and radiator/ air conditioner could use an update. The room was well airconditioned but the unit is a bit noisy.

“Everyone was really friendly and helpful. There is a trolley service that picks up outside the resort every 20 minutes which takes you into the village, to the beach or to Wells station and it only costs a dollar!! Fridge and microwave in room plus BBQ facilities outside. Small but good pool and ten minutes away by foot to Parsons Beach. Good value for money.” Christine, London |
