Room at back of building was quiet from street noise and other guests all night, which allowed our children to sleep in.
As with many NYC hotels, the price was a premium. The service level matched the price, I just wish I could afford more than 1 trip per year.
very clean and comfortable. Great shower! very helpful staff. great location.
wish there was a small refrigerator in the room
Location was good for quick walking access to major NYC museums
The hotel is surrounded by small restaurants and cafes which gave us a choice each night as to where we ate. Central park is very close and the area around the hotel is very nice - close to subway which was a bonus. Staff very friendly
All was good in our six nights stay
Location, staff, having a restaurant right in the building.
Did not like having the only ice machine on 2nd floor.
Hotel was clean. Housekeeping was great. Doormen were friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable. Room was large by New York standards. Location excellent. Everything was wonderful except a serious problem at check-in. Please see my negative comments
At check-in the night manager who identified himself as George refused to honor our reservation because the hotel was overbooked. A call to book-it.com solved our problem. I had emailed the hotel 3 days previously to confirm the reservation and had a copy of the confirming answer from the hotel with me. Even that didn't deter George. The employees at the front desk were not cordial.
Staff were helpful...Room was very well appointed...great deal through Booking.com
Neighborhood feel and much quieter than Midtown, clean and well-kept, close to both subways and parks, friendly staff, nice coffee shop across street, pleasant adjoining restaurant.
"View" was not really much of a view, cleaning staff did not follow the posted water-saving policies, but really I had trouble thinking of anything major I didn't like.
PRICE NO PARKING
old bed spreads. I would have liked those updated. But bathroom is clean and good location for us.
Great location for upper west side; solid,pre-war building; friendly, helpful staff; very pleasant, quiet and clean room; parking garage right across the street; nice restaurant adjacent to lobby; other restaurants nearby
Superb service, cleanliness, decor, great location
a basic continental breakfast would have made the stay even better, although I'm not sure they would have the space
Nice Matin next door does good breakfast
Room a bit small for the price - but what do you expect from an upper west side hotel !
This lovely hotel is one short block from the Metro station. Located on a quiet street, it's an oasis of calm after a day spent touring the city. There are some great shops in the area--Zabar's, a great pizza place, Pinkberry, many small bars and restaurants. Highly recommend!
One concierge--a woman with dark hair--was unpleasant. My husband asked her about getting tickets to a Broadway play using the half-price booth, and she said, "Why would you want to do that? The wait is over two hours. I can get you tickets to Cinderella or Stomp." NO THANKS, nasty lady. We went down to Times Square, waited 5 minutes in line at the half-price ticket booth, and there were many shows available! Got great tickets to see Phantom of the Opera.
Closeness to Hudson River and cruise terminals.
Fast lifts,great restaurant ,friendly staff.
Wasn't aware of taxes that had to be added to bill but not hotels fault as they did quote exclusive of tax
Room was a decent size.
I stayed for one night but my credit card was charged for two nights. Had to go out of my way to get the difference back. What a headache! The Front Desk Mgr's explanation for this did not make sense. It just seemed they cheated me and were hoping I wouldn't check my credit card statement. In addition, I realized after checking out that I left my IPhone charger in my room. Called the hotel later that day and spoke with "Frieda" from Housekeeping who assured me that she had found it and will turn it in the Front Desk for me to pick up. I later found out that it was never turned in and no one by that name works in Housekeeping. I can't believe she used a fake name to steal a phone charger!
The staff was very friendly and the room was very clean. Check and check out was very effiecient.
Great Upper West Side location. Room wasn't enormous but for a NYC hotel it was spacious. Very clean, comfortable and quiet. A bonus is the Nice/Matin restaurant.
Décor wasn't quite to my taste...a minor factor....
Great location, many restaurants nearby, metro station a few steps away, good room size, value for money
Front desk staff knowledgeable and helpful.
Not good value for the cost, even in New York
Perfectly placed for exploring New York. Quiet and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Its a beautiful building and we had a great view. Spacious room and comfy bed.
We were given a total price we would pay then on checking in hundreds of dollars were taken for taxes and "possible sundries". We managed to reclaim the "sundries" but were still left with several hundred dollars less money for our holiday than we had expected. Also the restaurant next door was recommended but the food was awful.
The location of the hotel is perfect, close to nice restaurants, subway, great shops, really nice área. The room is really clean, good size, and very good bathroom. Excellent WiFi. Highly recommend!
Great value for money, convenient location. Normally stay midtown, but loved the upper west side. Much calmer, with loads of non tourist resturants to eat in. Only one stop on the subway to 42nd street if you take the express on 72nd street. Otherwise the local is only 3 stops. Nice large rooms, clean bathrooms, good toiletries.
Not much to not like about this hotel. My only criticism would be the computer chair at the desk is to large and cumbersome. Only needs a little stool that could be tucked away.
