Basic hotel but close to Museum of Natural History, Central Park and Zabar's. Readily assessible to subway and great restaurants.
The location was great. Very clean. Helpful staff.
The bed was so uncomfortable! Heater did not work. Very small room (1201). Walls surprisingly thin, could hear all the noise of the people next door and elevators.
Just two blocks away from Central Park in a great neighborhood. Lovely smaller building, lobby in need of an update but that's part of the charm. Very friendly staff, reasonable price.
Walls surprisingly thin, could hear all the coughs and giggles of the family next door.
I liked the restaurant for a great breakfast! Nice, friendly and helpful doormen. Nice rooms. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. I could just move in there and be happy. It could be a home away from home. I have lots of friends who stay there when they are in town and they feel the same way.
Greater water pressure in the shower.
I liked the overall acceptability and respectability of every aspect. We had just come from walking out of the Comfort Inn on Central Park West, which was an appalling, frightening dump, where nothing was acceptable or respectable. We dropped into the friendly arms of the Lucerne, which was like coming home. Room was large, plumbing good, nice staff, excellent bell men, especially one whose name is Laughter. I will never forget him. Okay, the room furniture is a little dated, but I'm awfully tired of those stark, cold "updated" luxury joints. Some upholstered comfort is nice to sink in to at the end of a long day. And there is an excellent French restaurant in the hotel, The Nice Matin. Delicious at every meal. Altogether a pleasure to stay at the Lucerne, feel looked after, be in a wonderful location, and on the town.
Very friendly smiling staff made me feel very welcome Room was extremely clean and comfortable
Can't say I found anything to dislike!
the staff. the convenience of the location
the bathroom was unheated.
Although I stayed 10 days, I could not cancel the last 3 nights two weeks in advance and the final price was far above the one announced by booking.com (extra charge for additional persons, taxes, etc...)
The location is great close to everything we wanted to do. Liz the concierge who went to so much trouble to arrange transport to the River Cafe in Brooklyn. Proximity to Zabars. Some of the doormen were very helpful.
Room 612 was the smallest room we have ever had. If you wanted to use the mirror you had to lock the other person in the bathroom. No coffee machine as before. We asked for one 3 times. The first time we were brought another toilet roll.! The receptionist when we first arrive was barely polite.
Location, the room and bathroom of goodsize.
They take too long to make up the room even when asked to do so.
Great location - close to Central Park and the Hudson; professional and friendly staff - from reception to the room service; personable service - staff remember repeat clients and made to feel welcome
Rooms were very clean. No insects.
They charged us 220$ more for three days than expected from the Booking.com document we had in hand. They said it was due to the fact that we were four in a room but this is what we indicated during our booking. The room was very small for four people and my friend who stayed after my departure had a much larger room for one person.
The location was excellent. There were plenty of restaurants nearby, a subway stop was close and you could walk to Central Park.
The hotel was dated. The carpets and bed spreads were old.
Location,free wine cheese
We were given a small handicapped room. The bathroom was flooded with water. After showers. Price over $400.00.I stayed at the hotel many times, never had such a bad experience.
Great location and very easy to get around, clean rooms, can be a little small.
Rooms can be a little small Requested rooms with view - did not get them Requested coffee makers in all rooms - did not get them
location is good
The receptionist is quite cool and not warm at all. The room is quite small and smell not good and fresh.
The staff we absolutely the best you could ask for ..... They upgraded our room ..... And we're all so polite and helpful ........ The only complaint we had was the concierge desk ..... We found out we paid more than double for our Broadway tickets as well double for our hop on off bus tickets ....... But they have nothing to do with the Hotel is what we were told by that desk ....... So Hotel was super .......
Consierge desk ......As first timers to New York we feel they took full advantage of us ........ As we found out we were grossly overcharged for all tickets we purchased from them ...!!!
The people. The Keurig coffee maker.
The location is great, Amsterdam at 79th. But it isn't the theater district or near Times Square. The ambiance and public rooms are upscale. The restaurant next door was excellent for breakfast.
The room was extremely small with a queen bed. It was also expensive at $350 after taxes. Next time we will look further in advance for a larger room at a better rate.
Room at back of building was quiet from street noise and other guests all night, which allowed our children to sleep in.
As with many NYC hotels, the price was a premium. The service level matched the price, I just wish I could afford more than 1 trip per year.
very clean and comfortable. Great shower! very helpful staff. great location.
wish there was a small refrigerator in the room
Location was good for quick walking access to major NYC museums
The hotel is surrounded by small restaurants and cafes which gave us a choice each night as to where we ate. Central park is very close and the area around the hotel is very nice - close to subway which was a bonus. Staff very friendly
All was good in our six nights stay
Location, staff, having a restaurant right in the building.
Did not like having the only ice machine on 2nd floor.
Hotel was clean. Housekeeping was great. Doormen were friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable. Room was large by New York standards. Location excellent. Everything was wonderful except a serious problem at check-in. Please see my negative comments
At check-in the night manager who identified himself as George refused to honor our reservation because the hotel was overbooked. A call to book-it.com solved our problem. I had emailed the hotel 3 days previously to confirm the reservation and had a copy of the confirming answer from the hotel with me. Even that didn't deter George. The employees at the front desk were not cordial.
