The staff was very friendly and the room was very clean. Check and check out was very effiecient.
Great Upper West Side location. Room wasn't enormous but for a NYC hotel it was spacious. Very clean, comfortable and quiet. A bonus is the Nice/Matin restaurant.
Décor wasn't quite to my taste...a minor factor....
Great location, many restaurants nearby, metro station a few steps away, good room size, value for money
Front desk staff knowledgeable and helpful.
Not good value for the cost, even in New York
The location of the hotel is perfect, close to nice restaurants, subway, great shops, really nice área. The room is really clean, good size, and very good bathroom. Excellent WiFi. Highly recommend!
Great value for money, convenient location. Normally stay midtown, but loved the upper west side. Much calmer, with loads of non tourist resturants to eat in. Only one stop on the subway to 42nd street if you take the express on 72nd street. Otherwise the local is only 3 stops. Nice large rooms, clean bathrooms, good toiletries.
Not much to not like about this hotel. My only criticism would be the computer chair at the desk is to large and cumbersome. Only needs a little stool that could be tucked away.
We had a comfortable room in a quiet location. It was within walking distance of the subway, Central Park and the Hudson River. Breakfast at Nice Matin next door was very good.
Small, old hotel
The hotel is great for sightseeing. Good neighborhood. Quiet, clean with very helpful staff.
Nothing all good.
No brekfast.no souna etc
Quiet area, lots of restaurants, close to subway, short distance to major attractions and theatres. Not as impersonal as big hotel chains, staff remember you from one day to the next.
Restaurant downstairs is expensive, staff not friendly. Our bathroom had no tub or shower recess so shower water went all over the floor, very messy.
We absolutely loved Everything About This Hotel. The Room Was Spacious, The Location Safe And Easily Accessible By Cab Or Subway, The Staff Excellent. The Concierge Was Friendly And Knowledgeable. Restaurants, Shopping, And Drinking Establishments All Within Walking Distance. I Will Choose to Stay Here As Often As Possible.
Building beautiful, and local restraunts and bars a draw as well as being in close proximity to central park.
Did not have tea and coffee facities in the room.
Large comfy bed, kitchenette with microwave and fridge, quiet room, fast elevators, helpful doormen, excellent breakfast at nice matin.
No sink in kitchenette. Breakfast quite expensive.
Small room that smelled like sick person
Clean, great location, nice staff.
The bed wasn't very comfortable, the air conditioner would never cool the room down even left on 24-7. All it did was raise the humidity in the room so that everything felt damp.
Quiet, small hotel with a popular restaurant on ground level. Classic style furniture. We enjoyed walking to Museum of Natural History and Central Park. Neighborhood is one of the best in NY. Friendly staff. Helped us book limousine to airport.
I booked online with one credit card, then presented another at the reception. They ended up charging both cards then cancelled one after some discussion.
My husband and I love staying at the Lucerne. We always stay there when we are in NYC. Quiet location away from the buzz of Times Square. Short block to subway. Plenty of good restaurants within a few blocks. Perfect location for parents of students attending Columbia and Barnard. But location aside, the Lucerne has a great staff, always friendly and helpful. They will stow your luggage if you need to check out before you need to head to the airport. Rooms, while not large, are bigger than most NYC hotels. Always clean. Love our stays at the Lucerne.
Nice location, closed to the metro station and nice neighbourhood with restaurants, bars, mini-market, washing machine shop...
Old hotel, it smells old in the rooms and hotel. It is not a 4 star, it is more a 3 star standard. Very small hall.
Flexibility of front desk staff -- changed room from one bed to two at the same price Rooms were nicely furnished and clean and of decent enough size for NYC
No negatives from me . . .
Great location, good room service, nice beds, quiet, good restaurant, friendly staff.
The only negative point is that the windows do not open at all, not an inch. I understand hotel windows do not open fully but to not open at all is terrible. The room was a little stuffy and circulating air-conditioned air was not ideal. It made it a little claustrophobic.
Great location in an interesting part of the city. Family friendly, boutique hotel convenient to Metro. Cozy hotel
Having to go home!
Nice hotel in a quite good position, close to subway station
The location of the hotel
I came to nyc to get my daughter married; she lives in the vicinity. I have not expected that there was no refrigerator in my room! I had to ask about it and have them deliver it! I have stayed in the past at Avalon hotel, near Times Square, which is about the same price range and so much more better; The staff here was kind and all right, except for the concierge woman on our day of checking out...- She was rude - when asked the simple directions (I had a gps in my car and was waiting for it to arrive by vallet) just needed her to point a general direction to a closest highway that would take me to ct. This was my first time driving in and out of nyc- she said in a not too nice way - she could not help me - get online to get to the map and cannot print it , whatever...(although I never asked for a map to print...and even if I did, why would that be such a problem...?!) other than that, my room card did not work on the last day (after coming back form breakfast); the lobby furniture was very shabby; the elevator was too slow. We had another group of friends and family staying at a different (even smaller rooms) preparing for the wedding...the kitchen had our breakfast orders mixed up at least three times and we left for a wedding with a delay. Thank you for asking
When we complained desk staff were helpful & moved us to a good room Good room size Great shower Clean Friendly staff very helpful
Original room we were given was opposite the ice machine room we had very little sleep that night
