Low water pressure !
Staff were outstanding - nothing too much trouble. Quaint European decor and overall feel to the Inn Good continental breakfast included
Air-conditioning could be a bit noisy if you are a light sleeper
I loved the ancient, manual elevator! The staff was friendly and very helpful. Coffee was made available when I mentioned that I was a 5:00 am coffee drinker! I am looking for a reason to return-----
I did not like the fact that I had to leave!
We loved the ambience and decor. The public rooms were beautiful and welcoming. I felt like Marie Antoinette sleeping in my bed. The neighborhood was quiet and the church bells were enchanting.
The room was slightly claustrophobic. There should have been a floor lamp behind the chair.
A great place to stay. Old world charm meets today's needs. Redecorating etc. tasteful and staying true to the roots of this hotel.
A bit too pricey.
The staff, the quaint atmosphere, the room and the hotel's proximity to restaurant and bar establishments.
The lack of parking and clutter in the back of the hotel due to renovations and construction.
Stylish, nice atmosphere
Room was a bit too warm, breakfast not good
The location is so perfect. Jumped on the expressway a block away to head toward the Cubs game NO PROBLEM. Cute and quiet streets and downtown area to eat at a street cafe's for breakfast, lunch or dinner. All walking distance. Most important you feel SAFE!
Unfortunately there was construction on the building next door so we were awakened EARLY in the morning to sawing of concrete. Not the hotels fault but they should notate this on their site during a construction period.
The hotel was beautiful and I found it quite charming. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom (though lacking counter space or shelving)had been updated very well. It was a nice surprise to have an updated bathroom in a more vintage looking hotel room. All in all, quite lovely.
I wasn't expecting to have to haul my suitcase up some stairs. Not a big deal, but, I had had a really long day and wasn't prepared to tote my suitcase up a flight of stairs. Normally, not a big deal.
Historical building that's very well renovated. Large room. Free, fast Wi-Fi. Very nice breakfast.
Front desk staff aren't the sharpest or quickest.
Unique, great breakfast, helpful and friendly staff and a wonderful location in a quiet part of Evanston.
The bathroom and the shower even if it could have been cleanier. The location of the hotel, you can walk to restaurants and shops. I like that they kept the old elevator, it gives the place more charms.
The hotel needs some refurnishments, they already started with the bathrooms but there's so much more to do. The walls are so thin, I was able to hear the other guests getting in their rooms during the night (I'm usually a sound sleeper) and at some point it felt like somebody was getting into our room as the noises travelled easily. After that I didn't feel safe and didn't sleep well at all. It's a college town and so the room price was really high for what it was.
I would recommend with caveats. I liked the complimentary breakfast of coffee, juices, elegant & tasty breakfast pastries. I liked the renovated bathrooms and loved the friendly & very helpful staff--especially those working at the front desk. Our room was not made one day. The front desk was very apologetic, had our room made quickly and gave us free parking (which would have been $10/night!) for the incovenience. The dining/sitting room was a great space to relax and read the paper, as was the outdoor terrace.
The room, and hotel in general, smelled a little musty.
We had a great experience with the Margarita European Inn. The staff was so helpful and accommodating right off the bat. The room was beautiful and spacious, and ended up being the perfect set-up for my husband, my daughter and I. The location could not have been better. We were able to walk to countless restaurants, coffee shops, stores, etc. and we were even able to walk around Northwestern Campus with just a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel.
Quiant with lots of history and character. Nice continental breakfast in parlour. Do not stay here if you like the big cookie cutter chains. This is for people who like unique and different. We recommend. We are couple in our sixties.
The breakfast was a very big disaster
