Most of the staff were great with the exception of one when we explained what had happened with the TV she looked at us as if to say she couldn't have cared less. Apart from that one lady all staff were lovely and very helful and friendly but it's amazing how one person can put a bad swing on things.
We stayed for 3 nights and we wanted to watch a movie on the second night and there was a problem with the TV which then could not be fixed on the 3rd night also which was disappointing to have an engineer in our room for nearly and hour trying to fix it at 11:30 at night. This was disappointing and not acceptable.
1. Extremely Friendly and Accommodating Staff who went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. 2. Very good and accessible location. 3. Clean and well kept rooms.
Lovely staff. Great room. Would stay again. Super restaurant on the premises.
The location is great. Every one of the staff was very nice and helpful. The room was perfect and I loved that I could open the window! I have sensitivities to many smells and open windows all the time. Most hotels you cannot so it was a wonderful surprise. Also the bar outside was fun. It was crowded but you could get a table because they have many. Lots of people watching.
No air conditioner
A bit noisy at nighttime but could have been a one time occurence
Very cool design, friendly staff, small but very thoughtfully laid out room.
Bar below was noisy until the wee hours
People who worked for the hotel were very hospitable and knowledgeable of the hotel. Staff acted on any concerns promptly and with care. We have been frequenting this hotel for quite a few years with quite a few years inbetween each stay. Hotel has never disappointed.
Superb and friendly staff Great food at reasonable NY prices Loved the nautical themed decor esp the large porthole windows Wonderful attention to comfort details in the room
Staircase to enter the lobby
Well appointed rooms and design.
Very friendly staff who were very helpful. Bed was comfortable, room was very clean. Great location, right in the MPD so there is allot to do. Would stay there again.
Staying in the hotel was like staying in a Wes Anderson film. All the details were spot on.
Kitschy. If you want to stay in a place that will leave an impression on you, this is it. You'll want a picture. Outside of the novelty, I found the place great, and comfortable. wish I would have had more time to spend and enjoy the outdoor restaurant/bar. definitely would return
no folio under door in AM building next door was having a reception, and it was definitely loud, even with window closed
The room was small, it didnt live up to the $400 price tag. Def never staying at this hotel ever again!
As a sailor, loved the nautical theme and the portholes, had no problem with relatively small room.
More lighting in the halls would be good, maybe done as on ships.
Very close to my office, nice decor, nice and helpful staff. I was on third floor but still very quiet. I like the little nooks by the bed with night light and alarm.
There was this periodic noise, I think it was the AC, not very loud, much quieter than regular hotel AC. It didn't really bother me very much, just a little eerie at first.
great view across to the Hudson - the higher the room the better. Nice to have an outside terrace for drinks and meals in the summer. rooms comfortable and well designed
Reception staff off-hand and unfriendly - we stayed over a week and they never managed to address as anything other than 'you' - no name, no sir / madam etc etc. They were equally unfriendly on the phone when we booked. It's an expensive place and I'd say the most undfriendly hotel we've ever stayed in and we travel a lot. However, all the maids and door-guys were extremely friendly, polite and helpful - they should put them on reception and greeting and put the reception staff on cleaning the rooms!!
Big, popular night club downstairs, so lots of horns honking until 2-3 am. Used ear plugs. And that helped. Otherwise, great hotel, great value.
Very very noisy. There is a nightclub in the basement, and another 50 metres away. Taxis honking keep you up all night. If you are single or a young couple in New York for a weekend of partying, then great hotel and location, if not, then I suggest you, stay somewhere else
Great location for work or fun - included breakfast is clever and very decent (Served on each floor). Will return on future visits to Chicago. Some rooms can be noisy (due to vicinity of other larger buildings and their noisy air con units) - but not a deterrent. Most rooms would be unaffected.
excellent location. comfy bed..
rooms are a tad small...
The rooms and the staff
All as it suggested in the reviews
The location was excellent. Easy access to both bus and subway lines.
Like most reviews I'd seen before we booked, the place is a little dark but it should be a deterrent from booking.
The outdoor patio was lovely for warm weather dinning.
The rooms were very small
