The hotel was very cosy with a fire place in the ground floor lounge area which was lovely to drink a toddy in front of. Rooms were small but modern with kept charm. The staff was very friendly and the free breakfast was really good! It definitely met our expectations!
The rooms are very small and it was difficult to regulate the heat. Everything else was very satisfying!
I loved the beauty & comfort of the room. Excellent shower.
If I had one complaint, it is the room size was NY compact. Space under the bed was helpful, however. The beauty of this boutique hotel outweighs this one criticism.
The location is fantastic. Just a few minutes away from all the cool places in West End. But no need to go anywhere if looking for a place with hype and great atmosphere. The buzz was amazing. Always people coming and going any time of the day in the lobby, bar and restaurant. Very comfy bed and good breakfast.
Room a bit tight, had to play a bit with spaces as we were traveling with several suitcases.
Great Location, very cozy lobby area. The Continental breakfast was very good and healthy. Gluten free :) Very nice staff and over all just great hotel
Beautiful style throughout, lovely shower, great location walking distance to lots of great dinner places and bars, staff very helpful, great bar and lounge for drinks
The room was tiny, smaller than I thought it would be. The bar lounge area was also too busy a lot of the time with students and people on laptops taking up all the seats.
We loved The Marlton...felt like we were staying in a Paris boutique hotel. The rooms were very well appointed and beds very comfortable. The rooms are quite small but oh so charming with high ceilings, fabulous lighting, the chevron patterned wood floors and great linens. I would suggest adding more hooks on the doors as the closet space was small too. The deluxe queen rooms need a small bench to sit on...as there was space for this. Thought the restaurant and bar were a lot of fun and always busy. We would definitely enjoy staying there again. It is so well located for all of the fun restaurants and near enough to the High Line and all transportation.
Loved the downstairs vibe, with the large open fire in the lounge. Staff in Margeaux were great.
The signage to our room number had the arrow pointing in the wrong direction, so with suitcases in that tiny corridor it's not ideal..may need to change that people!
Location Lobby was very cozy
Room was claustrophobic (I've stayed in a lot of pokey NYC hotel rooms but this bet all). 2 adults and 2 large suitcases simple don't fit.
I love the decoration and the atmosphere.
The rooms were too small
Nice atmosphere in lobby and bar...terrific.
Unavoidable small size of the room. Not enough space for a single chair!
The service in all areas. The staff was very friendly but polished and professional. Beautiful design and ambience. My room was nicely decorated and had large windows for great light
I know I booked the petite room but really. I don't think I have ever stayed in a room that small. I was very glad to not be a big reason because it just would not have worked. There was 15" clearance on either side of the bed and about the same at the foot of the bed. If the wardrobe doors were shut. If you wanted to use the loo. The door opened about 15". Until it hit the side of the bed. Fortunately I could squeeze in sideways. At 5'2" and 120 lbs. I was lucky. When I wanted to sit down to put on my shoes I had to sit on the pot. Fortunately it had a lid ! Unpacking was a challenge as the hanging space in the wardrobe was also about 15". Because the other side of the wardrobe was loaded with goodies to sell you.....booze , chips. Cookies'snacks ect things kept falling all over the place when trying to find a place for things. The refer was packed so no place to cool anything. I finally put my undies in the wall safe with my socks. Since there were no drawers the only other options for clothes were under the bed of on to of it. I gave up and didn't unpack most of my bag which was a pain for three days. The huge three armed overhead light that took up most of the ceiling was just scary and horrible fung shui. It didn't relate to anything in the room but perhaps adding ropes and chains might have been the concept. I would certainly like to return but I hope a better room would available
Housekeeping is always late in cleaning the room.
the location and the staff was excellent! walking distance to major jazz clubs and very good restaurants.
The room and the bed was ridiculously small.
Quality of furnishing in rooms and public areas, felt comfortable and cosy. The hotel close to good transport links so the hotel felt as if it was central whilst having a village feel.
If your in New York as a tourist you don't spend much time in your hotel room, but these rooms are classic old New York and very clean with excellent staff
A bit more variation for hotel residents at breakfast
The room was very nice, though small. Moldings are beautiful, good ambiance. TV & wi fi are great. Desk people want you to keep big clunky key chain w/ them, but I kept mine for convenience. Lovely downstairs area for sitting, restaurant also.
I need my coffee & was traveling alone. With no room service, I was forced to get dressed & go to the restaurant where they had a free continental breakfast. However, there are only 2 'selections' -pastries or granola w/ yogurt, I believe. I don't eat yogurt, so nothing nutritious was offered. Also, you must sit down so you can't 'grab' an apple or banana & sweet roll with coffee. You can call for b'fast 'to go' but then must go somewhere else to eat. Awkward.
The amazing interior decor of the rooms and common area as well as it's location. The service provided by the bell boy was superb!
Our room was a little small but that was more that over compensated by the mGnificent decor and brilliant staff
Loved the hotel generally - great ambiance, lovely furniture and places to sit and chill or work as lots of people were doing. Attention to detail - rooms were lovely with lots of nice touches. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.
Nothing not to like really! Very hard to find fault with anything at all. Only thing I could think of is that one evening i asked for a glass of wine and got a very small measure for a very large price but that's it really. Everything was really exceptionally nice.
Location is perfect. Bar / restaurant is uber-cool. Room decor is 4/5* quality.
Room size is as described - VERY small. Breakfast was poor. Price is steep, but this is NYC. They even charged $4 for 'filtered' water in the room. Outrageous.
The bar was nice and friendly, great location. Continental breakfast was nice if a little small on the portion size.
The room was tiny!! Only a Double bed too so not a great night sleep, not even enough room to store 2 cases and then be able to get around the bed, the bathroom flooded when we used the shower, the wardrobe space was tiny too with no room for drawers in the room. Ok if you want a night or 2 with a weekend bag but not really that good in the middle of a 2 week road trip.
Location was perfect, the rooms are small but has very high and nice standard.
One of my worst experiences regards payment, and I'm traveling a lot during work. When we arrived they told me that they were going to reserve a small amount onto my credit card as they normally does on hotels, my experience is that this amount is usually maximum about 300€ when traveling around the world. But Marlton hold over 2000USD on my credit card which is close to the limit on my private card. This made some problems since you usually want to use your credit card during your holiday. Any way I though that the reservation was going through when we left and we were going to pay anyway... That was not what happened in check out. Marlton charged my credit card whit another 2200USD in checkout and It took over two weeks for the reservation to release which made my situation at more even worse. This made some big problems for me. I spoke to the reception but they told me this was the way they were doing it. I will not recommend Marlton hotel to anyone except people with seriously big limits on their credit cards. This situation kind on ruined one part of our holiday that we have saved for.
Liked the surroundings, decor etc. Bar and lounge area comfortable and good atmosphere. Restaurant food good. Comfortable beds. Excellent position. Complimentary breakfast good.
We had the smallest bedroom available and 2 days was maximum we could have stayed in this room as nowhere to store things and suitcases pushed under bed.
Location was incredible Beautiful Boutique hotel Rooms were great
Being a boutique hotel we expected exceptional service. We spent a full week at the hotel and did not speak to any of the staff. When we made efforts to engage with them, it seemed they were too 'cool' to talk. We had no service from the door man, the front desk barely looked up at you even though the lobby was very very small. We are world travellers and love NYC. We booked this hotel for a special occasion and though we enjoyed many things about our stay, the customer service and staff were very very disappointing, especially for the hotel cost. Unfortunately, we would not stay again because of this.
