The hotel is ok, but not excellent. More focused on the tourist than the business traveler. In the very neighborhood there is an excellent donut shop with good coffee, breakfast and related stuff. Situated on Pennsylvania Avenue, one has no problems with busy traffic. An oversea phonecall costs 6 USD / minute. A ridiculous price. Internet is rather expensive as well. Either 10 USD / day (wireless) or 0.49 USD / minute in the lounge. Other services are too expensive as well. |

location was great, room size was excellent, comfortable bed some suggestions: place night lights in the bathroom, dressing area needs a ceiling light as that areas lighting isn't the best, a door at the dressing area would be nice so if someone is dressing and another guest is still sleeping they aren't disturbed |

This was advertised as 4* but this was no where closer to that. I felt let down. |

The place had a friendly atmosphere and a good location. The room was disappointing: the telephone didn't work, the shower was not in good shape and the air conditioning was too loud - it made a clunking sound - sugeesting that something was broken, although it seemed to function OK. |

The room was very clean and comfortable The receptionist tried to allocate me a smaller, smoking room when I arrived. He said the room I booked was not available and asked the porter ' to check another room'. After saying it was not available within 5 minutes I was able to secure the deluxe room I had originally booked |

The room was decorated lovely. Our daughter goes to GW University so the location was great for the campus and walking to Georgetown. We've stayed in many hotels in Washington but will definitely stay at The Melrose Hotel again. What I didn't like is that my son and I were put in a room that was wheelchair accessible which made the bathroom very inconvenient. My son is 6'3" so the sink and shower were hard to manage and the closet was to short for our clothes. When we checked in the staff should have asked us if that type of room was acceptable for us. Excellent location for seeing DC. Easy walking distance to Georgetown, Kennedy Center, and mall. Helpful staff and large rooms a plus. Not in the luxury hotel category, but close enough for a pleasant stay. |

Don't have breakfast at this hotel! .The breakfast was a joke!! It was the worst breakfast buffet I have ever seen. We had to pay extra for the orange juice. The coffee was 7 dollars! Breakfast was supposed to be included in our room rate but we still had to pay extra for the children, 12 dollars for a bowl of ceral. |

The location The room was hot and the temperature couldn't be adjusted. Also, the room was not made up the second day and tried to explain it to the maid but she didn't speak English. |
