The caring and attention all the staff provided- from the manager to the reception and bar staff, to the porters, housekeeping and doormen -- were all top shelf. The hotel itself is beautiful and spotless and the rooms spacious and welcoming.I Cannot imagine a better more convenient place to stay in New York City and we shall return as well as tell all our friends to try this exceptional property. We have no negatives to report. If there is such a thing as a perfect property, this is it!

You can't get a better located hotel for proximity to all the main attractions in uptown Manhatten. The promised turn down service with chocolates and weather forecast only happened once - the first night . We forgot to tip the next day and suspect that is why we didn't get the service again during our five night break.

Location was the best. Great for theaters and restaurants.....Rockefeller Center, Times Square all within a block or two. Small luxury hotel. Quiet. Well appointed rooms and baths. Very nice sized rooms for New York, Entry is strange. Not a grand entry like many hotels. There are 5 or 6 stairs to the street level and many of them have luggage on them. We walked past the hotel the first time, thinking it was the service entrance. Once inside, it is very lovely and warm.

Great location and ambience. Room heater is terrible: noisy and unpredictable. Nightly turn down service is a myth. Housekeeping calls you even when the don't disturb sign is there.

Location, price and room size. Ice not on floor where room was. Hotel entrance has stairs, hard to take luggage in and out of building.

The hotel is very attractive and our room was spacious, clean and well designed with a beautiful bathroom. The location is convenient for theaters, but too close to Times Square so that the area is always packed with tourists. The hotel was not good value for the money because there were too few amenities included. The "continental breakfast" consisted of coffee and a dry roll or scone (no jam or butter) served in a small basement room. We also stayed at a far less expensive place, the Library Hotel, that had a nice complimentary breakfast and complimentary wine and cheese in the evenings, in a much more pleasant setting. There were also problems with our room keys (E.G. if one of us went to the fitness room, the other's key card suddenly did not work).

I was in awe of the decor it was beautiful. And the fact we got an upgrade on our room as I was proposing was fantastic. The front desk staff and bellman made us feel a million dollars. I will definitely be using the michaelangelo for every time I'm in new York Old style tvs for such a beautiful room. But I'm just been picky cause I couldn't think of anything. Best hotel I have stayed at in new York can't fault it

liked location and convenience to city. liked small "boutique" feel. Didn't like maids beginning to knock on door at 9:00 on check out day - sure they were trying to get us moving but they knocked every 15 ish minutes until we left about 10:30. Annoying. Otherwise have already recommended.

This is by far the best place that i ever stayed at in New York city and would recomend it to anybody that does not have a budget, It is pricey although it was on sale while I was there and they will charge you for the water in your room which is not a very nice way to say thank you for the business, the rooms were awesome the service was the best and access to subway and good food were very close by, i will stay there again.

I've stayed at the Michelangelo before and liked it so much I brought my just-turned-10 yr. Old granddaughter there for her first nyc "experience". We had a fabulous time doing Broadway, ny delis, Times Square, The Met (Museum), the lower East side, Macy's, the Highline and ,of course, Rockefeller Center! I mentioned all of this b/c the Michelangelo is so well-located to see all of these tourist attractions and it's truly a lovely, comfortable and well-run hotel. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a mid-Manhattan stay in a caring environment. The beds were very comfortable and the room set-up quite large for a nyc hotel. The only "downside" is that there is no real breakfast except room service. That was ok with us b/c we wanted to "hit the streets" as we only had a three day weekend!

We had a very quiet room despite central location. The concierge managed to get us a table at one of the best restaurants in town Bernadine at very short notice- it is very close to the hotel and is superb so well done for concierge for that. Some people may feel it is a little dated however we sthhis this as part of the charm. Paying for Internet access is disappointing as even lower standard hotels offer this as a free service these days, after all it is 2012!

Location is perfect! Close to Time Square, Broadway and Central Park....many amenities and restaurants just a few steps away! Even the room was pretty quiet as it was on the inner side of the hotel. Didn`t see much sunlight though but I guess it`s a small price to pay to have a quiet room without a single noise! And then again....in ny you don`t spend too much of your daytime in your hotel room! Very nice and spacious room!

Excellent cleaning staff and concierge. The location is great if you want to be right on Times Square, although it's a very expensive area. The hotel has a very classical look which was nice. The free breakfast was adequate. Breakfast was expensive and very, very basic ($25 for the most basic breakfast I've ever had in a hotel). I also didn't expect to have to pay 13$ per day for internet when paying +$400 per night.

beautiful, spacious, clean comfortable corner room...couldn't ask for anything more; excellent location if you want to be in Time Square but the room was quiet in spite of it. Like the heater outside the door, the doorman was great and all staff generally friendly I wasn't totally clear about my options for breakfast....it was the 2nd day I realized I could get continental on level C

Love this hotel. It is centered directly in the middle of the city and within walking to all wonderful and educational attractions. Henri, the gentleman that greats everyone at the front door has a contagious smile along with a gracious attitude. Love this man. He is extremely helpful and full of valuble information that you need to know on getting around the city.
