Great deal Perfect location Friendly staff Cleanliness is good Love the elevator XD
Wifi coverage is fair The shower head need to be fixed
I think it just could all use a good updating. Scoop it out clean it up then it would be outstanding
Oh man I slept so well! Quiet calm private cozy room the best deal in town when I book online.
Hotel evening reception attitude is very bad, 尤其岐 depending Chinese people, we later learned that after the Taiwanese people have a good point, but still use the card every hotel room Daytime reception attitude is much better, but there told him that we want to extend the stay, deal with the results of the evening counters (and before the same individual), as will lock the card, we have to rerun harm down the hall told him, feeling too bad Hotel soundproofing is poor, noisy room next two nights, the hotel no treatment, aging facilities across the tramp lot, late back to the hotel felt very safe
staff was really helpful hotel has atmospher, soul nice elevator 6.0 magnitude earthquake :)
noises travel easily thru the building at night you can listen to dialogues on the hall sometimes a serious noise of industrial kind
Bed was comfy.
Checked in early and told our room was not ready. No problem; left our bags and took a walk. Later upon return were given a key to a lesser room than the king reserved. No mention of quality change nor an adjustment made in rate. After checking the room and seeing it was not a king, tried to get the front desk to make the correction. Told there were no kings left, but a rate adjustment would be made to the queen rate. Had I not pressed, I would have wronged twice: once in being cheated out of a nicer room experience that I was early for and told was not ready and secondly for not being given a lesser rate for a lesser room until I challenged them. The ladies room in the lobby was filthy. Street people partied late into the night right next to the hotel. Bed comforter was very hot. Blanket in the closet smelled of cigarettes. When I asked the desk for a new blanket, was told they didn't have any more. In the morning, while waiting for the relic of an elevator, noticed a blanket in the open housekeeping closet.
The convenience of being in the middle of the city with quick accessibility to public transportation.
The loud noise outside of my window (vehicles and local residents)
Location was good. Room was good and well serviced daily. Free coffee in lobby and ice machine was good. Parking for car was good - able to park 5.00 pm to 9.00 am free in street outside or for 24 hours in parking station behind for $26. Near to good food outlets.
Free WiFi didn't work in room, had to go down to lobby to be able to use it, which was inconvenient.
Location is good, service was nice, tidiness of the room, staff were great, double glazing windows, value for money
Had a room towards the street that was exposed to noise from fire engines and police cars during the night.
Room was clean. Bed was fluffy. Close to everything I wanted to see.
Elevator didn't work. Walls were thin and you could hear everything outside and in the next room. I was checked out the first morning of my two night stay so had to have two charges on my account. Was over charged for a third night (in which I didn't stay). Parking was way too expensive. Elevator broken on the first day and I had to carry my luggage up 5 flights.
We were put in a room bext to the elevator. The elevator is no old and very loud!
The hotel was good when you are on a budget. Comfortable Staff were helpful Fairly good location for seeing main attactions
The area wasn't the best, I wouldn't feel very safe if I was on my own.
Many nice restaurants, bars and even a record store just around the corner. The area is scruffy, but me and my kids did not feel nervous.
The hotel is somewhat worn out and the parking is expensive ($38 + tax per day).
Location and clean.
Needs updated decor in rooms
If you are planning on staying out all day and just come to the hotel to sleep, this place is great. Super clean and friendly staff. Some people mentioned they didn't feel safe because all the homeless... We walk late back to the hotel and never had a problem. Every big city has homeless walking around downtown, nothing new :-)
Location was only 15 mins walk to union square! Good bus routes straight to fisherman's wharf.
Extra expense for parking which is annoying (cheaper than other local rates around) but worth paying for as area isn't great. We saw a car broken into while we were there.
Too expensive, old furniture and building, WIFI most time very slow or not working at all! Parking for 45 USD/day!
modest but clean and quiet (although next to a busy street), wifi worked well most of a time,
to describe the neighborhood as "unpleasant" is to put it really nicely, no breakfast offered in the morning,
The room was clean
The hotel was definitely overpriced. There was a strong smell in the room, had to leave the windows open all day to try and get rid of it. Valet parking was really expensive. We had no choice but to use it as there was nowhere to park the car.
- can clear hear noise from another - middle night still has somebody move desktop/chair - no breakfast - Wi-Fi not stable
Staff was very friendly. Room was large. The shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. The bed and bedding were comfy and seemed to be clean.
There was a dirty towel left over from the last guest in the bathroom. There was only a soap and a shampoo, and the shampoo was opened. All the towels had at least one hole or worn-through spot. The carpets were dirty. the alarm clock didn't work. This hotel is in the Tenderloin neighborhood, which isn't safe at night, but I knew that when I booked the room It was last-minute business travel, and this was all there was available. Overall, however, at $169 a night, I felt ripped off.
Low cost Convenient location Felt safe inside
Unsafe neighborhood Noisy No breakfast options Expensive to park ($40+)
location was excellent for night life and restaurants. everything withing walking distance including union square. Bed was comfortable and room was clean.
The hotel is outdated and carpet is was stale. It was supposed to be non smoking but my room smelled of smoke as well as the hall way
We've stayed at the Monarch numerous times actually and find the hotel to be rather comfortable and affordable for SF. The staff are all very friendly and willing to assist/advise you on any matter.
Location is terrible as it is in the tenderloin which is a high crime area due to the over abundance of homeless. Believe me when I say PAY the parking fee for the hotel or parking structure behind the hotel, if you park on the street you WILL get broken into as we did. Also unless you want to walk 10 blocks to really do anything I don't recommended it for site seeing, but if you're driving then the location isn't necessary bad.
