I thought the room was very classy for the money. I usually stay as a member at Marine's Memorial for about the same price. You are just as good. I will stay again if I cannot get into MM.

It was all fine. No complaints.

The overall look and feel of the motel was nice. Old fashioned, cozy rooms. Super strong coffee.

The smell of cigarette smoke in the 'smokers' room was a bit overwhelming at times. Thought if we aired it out, it would help, however, the room itself is older so that smoke smell has probably been around since before I was born. Ha.

Walking Distance close to theaters, cable cars, restaurants and Asian Art Museum. Excellent safe off site parks and hotel staff accomodated our car needs after checkout.

Great location. Easy walk to public transportation.

Everything was fine. Nothing above and beyond but still a good time.

Previous guests left dirty clothes in the drawer which makes sense as the cleaning was a bit basic and the smell when you enter the room was quite strong, I could not describe what the smell was though. Internet was pretty slow.

Walking distance from main attractions, clean rooms equip with necessities and great for families.

Loved that it was really close to Japantown, where we both shopped around and ate in for our anniversary. The room was clean, had a comfy tub, low noise level outside, and the staff were pretty pleasant.

They didn't inform us of the $40 extra they charged to our card temporarily 'just in case' we used the telephone or etc. We only had enough money in our account for the amount the room was supposed to cost, so we were really worried about overage charges. The extra fee dropped after 48 hours, but we should have been warned.

Close to the city and transportation. Staff very friendly. Our room face the street very noisy. The staff moved us to a quieter room very good we will go again to your hotel Alain

This hotel is located in a horrible neighborhood (the Tenderloin District.) They don't have a computer to print your boarding pass.

the room is big and and water is hot. Location is close to bus stop.

Saw and killed a bedbugs on the bed on the third night, and we all got bites all over the neck and legs.

Mostly the price, beds were reasonably comfortable to sleep in.

The area around the hotel is not amazing (but reasonably close to Union Square), few TV channels, rooms rather unimpressively furnished and with some cracks in the walls, some amount of noise from other rooms and hallways.

lots of restaurants around. close to AMC theater.

Seedy area, lots of homeless people.

Rooms on the 6th floor were wonderful (this was my 3rd stay there)

Very old, but kept up. Lobby was nice with large windows and sitting area. Bathroom was very clean and looked newly remodeled.

Had that old hotel smell.

The room was a good size and initially the staff seemed helpful and friendly. However that changed and it became an exceptionally uncomfortable stay. And More tahn a week later, I still have not been refunded my security deposit and I left the room in immaculate condition. I would like my security deposit refunded immediately.

I came down with the flu during my stay at The Monarch Hotel. Feeling just terrible and having no otc remedies with me, I called a friend who did come to the hotel with Nyquil, Thereaflu and some other things to help me beat this thing as quickly as possible. He arrived around 3 am and stayed until about 7 Am. The next evening he came over around the same time to see how I was feeling. I explained to the woman at the front desk that I had been feeling awful and slept most of the day (the day after my first night there). The owner/manager said his staff reported to him that I was having all sorts of company and that his hotel did not cater to "my kind". I can only imagine what he was implying, but let me tell you. He's pegged me completely wrong. I on the other hand spent most of my stay in my room working on a project that had deadlines that were critical. I didnt likek his accusation or character assasination of me and I dont like being asked to leave a hotel because he chose not to investigate all the facts. I'm very disappointed in the handling of my last day there and the fact that my deposit has not been returned and I do plan to publish a very similar review with all the details on the hotels website. Noone should be accused of being a degenerate when in fact, they are suffering from the flu

i really liked the clean room, well kept and enough room. the bathroom was nicer than the Opal hotel around the corner. i felt safe to go out and about in the day as well as the night. it was close to transportation.
