The most notable inconvenience for me was that there's no elevator
for guests! I found this out after we were given our room key. For a 4th
floor room. While I'm 8 months pregnant. Come on! We were able to
trade for a second floor with some discussion. The bed was not a queen
bed. It was a full size bed. Again, I'm 8 months pregnant and needed
to fit my poor husband in the bed somehow. The bed was also terribly
uncomfortable. Last but not least, the shower... Oh man, I've never
taken such quick showers! The water pressure was great, but it shot
through the shower head so hard that it was actually physically painful!
I was covered in (temporary) red welts after each shower! The shampoo,
conditioner, and body wash were in wall-mounted dispensers like at a
gym, which felt cheap.
The location is unbeatable! We were impressed by the cleanliness of the
hotel, and how well it was kept up, especially being what we were told
was the first hotel in Monterey! Loved the little details (marble
bathroom, rose on the nightstand, lemonade in the lobby, bottled waters
in the rooms when it was warm.) We would stay there again, just making
sure we had the right size bed and requested a low floor!
