I loved the warm welcome, and extra well thought out extras in the room. We had two rooms for three nights and were very impressed with the service and spacious suites. Great location.
We had a great dinner at the eclipse restaurant before going to the rooftop bar to watch fireworks on July Fourth - spectacular!! We live in St Louis and love being at the moonrise hotel!
The room rates were nearly doubled for the holiday but we felt it was worth it for one night of great fun!
Loved the decor and nontraditional feel. Rooms were impeccably appointed and staff was terrific. The lighting was quirky and elegant at the same time. Terrific location near wonderful restaurants and walking distance to Wash U.
Charm, friendly town, rural character
Rooms are clean, large bathrooms, excellent location, good free wifi
Noisy, thin walls.... If quietness is important to you, I would suggest requesting a room either on or below the 6th floor. There is a rooftop bar on the 8th floor that can be noisy.
Loved the room, bed and shower
Love the rooftop!!!
It's a bit pricey.
A fun happy staff!
Location, Eclipse, friendly and accomodating staff
Our Premier Suite was gorgeous, Beautiful Deco furnishings and movie posters throughout.
There is no light for reading or working in the suite except for bedside lamps. The dining area chairs are painfully uncomfortable. The only usable seating is the loveseat and chaise. The only spot for reading is on the chaise and that's really enough light. The WiFi signal is weak, weak, weak and their system logs you on to their site every time you turn your device on even though you have already logged in and provided the necessary credentials. It also does this if you change browsers or close and reopen a browser. The staff is cool, close to rude and unknowledgeable about their neighborhood. The business center has two computers and one was not working for our two day stay. All this for $250 plus per day. Except for the Deco decor, we absolutely do not recommend this property.
the decor and on spot restaurant was awesome as well as the moon terrace was amazing ...
wifi is a bit slow.
The staff and room were beyond expectations. Everything was wonderful.
There were a large number of special event guests that were not staying at the hotel that limited our access to some of the amenities including the roof top lounge.
The staff was so wonderful and friendly! Such a unique and hot atmosphere, creating a special and memorable experience!!! It felt like it was THE place to stay in St. Louis B-)
Nothing, it was a PERFECT stay.
The hotel didn't know what the restaurant was doing for the Stl 250th birthday party!
The cleanliness was spotless. Loved the shower and upgraded sea salt extras.
Don't think it had a money on demand channel. We had to ask for DVD player and rent a movie. There was a graduation ceremony on the top floor on the Sunday we stayed and the top floor was part of the reason we selected this hotel. We were not notified that the top floor bar area would not be accessible.
I like that the female at the front desk remembered who I was.
I thought that the brunch at $18 a person was a bit over priced. I tipped my waitress $20. So it was a $56 breakfast for my wife and I. The food was good though. Just not $18 good.
The staff (each and everyone) was so helpful and friendly. We felt like it was their mission to make our stay enjoyable. Hotel was not cookie-cutter and it was convenient to other activities.
Hard pressed to find anything that wasn't great.
Great location so much to do around the hotel
We stayed at the Moonrise Hotel for one night in early April 2014. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The hotel decor (and architecture) wouldn't look out of place in a Wes Anderson movie, modernist inside and a rotating moon on the the roof - making it a destination building on the Loop. Inside, the moon theme continues but never becomes tacky, erring on the side of modernism rather than cliche. The room was superbly appointed, we even had a small radio that played a variety of sleep sounds although I didn't need it - the bed being superbly comfortable. The hotel has a restaurant and roof top bar - although it was a windy day we headed up for a cocktail and a look out to towards downtown and the Gateway Arch. I'm sure it would be a great hangout come sunshine! The hotel is also in a great part of St Louis - neat University Town and on the Loop. The street itself has a bunch of great stores, an excellent patisserie and my new favourite cinema - the Tivoli Theatre, just down the road. I hope to visit again. In all, we loved our brief stay in St Louis and the Moonrise Hotel.
High marks for originality! A very cool hotel in a good location. Close to Washington University and right on the Loop. Great if you are visiting Wash U. Very nice staff! We also had an excellent breakfast here.
Best shower head ever!
Wifi was iffy.
The atmosphere was very cool, the room was very nice & clean. The staff was very friendy, we will be back!
We were upgraded to a wonderful corner suite! Great location, great stay.
Convenient location. Friendly staff. Helpful and clean.
The room was nicely laid out with a super comfy bed. The parking in the back was free.
I liked the hotel, but I don't think it quite matched what I was expecting. The design of lobby austere and wasn't welcoming: I felt as though I had come in via some side entrance. The Front Desk staff prompt but just odd. (Wacky and funky are fine but they were just odd-- they didn't inspire a sense of control.) They did not explain the internet procedures when checking in or what amenities were available. This was my first trip to St. Louis and I would have liked a concierge. I wished the shower in the rom had the ability to turn off the overhead rain shower. They are a lovely feature, but not when you don't want to wash your hair. Would have liked a handheld attachment and a shower door that opened up fully, not one taht forced me to squeeze in to a somewhat narrow opening.
