Score from 1 review Exceptional
Debby was extremely engaging when we arrived and made us feel welcome and "at home.". She described and history of the hotel and important work being done in Silver City to preserve and protect its economy and cultural and built assets.
There was only one bedside light available and it would be best to have another so that two people can read without having to turn on an overly bright and harsh ceiling light.
The staff were genuinely good at their jobs. Nice people who loved the place. Its a lovely art deco place with big rooms.
No air con just a noisy fan
Quaint surroundings; good restaurants.
No air conditioning; didn't find out until we got to the room! Cancellation policy trapped us once we realized the hotel renovation wouldn't be finished for several more months! Deceptive promotion of an unfinished property.
Location superb. Staff very helpful. My room was exceptionally quiet and the bed very comfortable. I was very surprised to be given an $11 discount based on the outside temperature and an additional $5 discount because the breakfast spot for which they offer a $5 coupon was not open Sunday morning. OK - no AC and I was expecting a miserable night but with the window open to create airflow and the significant temperature drop when the sun went down the room turned out to be pleasantly cool. I'll stay there again.
Nothing! Not one complaint.
Location was wonderful.
Lack of air conditioning was a surprise.
Being in the downtown area of Silver City.
No air conditioning - though I know it can be cooler in Silver City, if no air conditioning, then ceiling fans would be nice. Also a few more TV channels would be good as well.
The staff goes above and beyond to accommodate your every need. We wanted a suit and they had no problem with that requests. Highly recommend this lovely hotel for your next stay in Silver City New Mexico!!!!!!!
Parking is somewhat difficult but truly worth the trouble. No assigned lot, on street parking only.
staff extremely helpful breakfast coupons Ice available
no cable channels shortage of tissue/toilet tissue Rooms are not at all private-can hear the next door conversations & tv
very friendly and accommodating staff. WIthin easy walk of anywhere downtown Silver City. Really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast at the Muffin house. Great coffee in the morning and thoughtful to have ice, even though the ice machine isn't installed yet. Will be a most lovely place to stay once everything is complete.
Light coming in around the door from the hallway, needs to be sealed. Hated the automatic light in the bathroom and with no instructions telling me how to make it manual, i was crawling in and out at night so as to not make the light go on. No fan in the room and the ac isn't working yet.
Good coffee in the morning. Comfortable bed.
The restoration is incomplete and poorly done. Rooms are small and spartanly furnished. No television or phone in the room. Thin walls between the rooms. Could hear conversations that were being carried out at normal volume.
I booked the room based upon the unavailability of a room at a "branded" competitor. I will also stay at the Murray Hotel when my business brings me to Silver City!
Loved the historic feel.
Not a horrible thing, but a lounge or bar would be a wonderful addition.
Room was great. Cozy. We were in room 304. Noise level was awful. We had to whisper. We could hear our neighbors and they were talking low. TV volume was loud and we could not get it down so we muted the volume and just watched. Work in progress.
Just told you
Owners have done a great job of restoring this property. It is conveniently located in the old historic district. The property is updated, clean and very comfortable. Staff are very helpful and hospitable.
Parking on the street is an issue for me. There is no on site food service on site however there are several great restaurants within easy walking distance. We were told that a restaurant will be opening on site soon. There is no A/C in the rooms which may only be a problem in the hottest part of the summer.
Need smaller flat screen tv or no tv. TV took up too much space and did not have a low volume.
Charming historic art deco hotel in Silver City (USA), and by far the most top level of the whole city. Superior support by friendly staff. This is (or will definitely become) the business and upper level hotel of town.
The former hotel is currently being re-managed, and as a result there is no restaurant, and for breakfast one needs to go outside. By 2015 that should be resolved with the opening of the restaurant and the bar. Look forward to seeing a top chef joining this small city !
Fast wi-fi, comfortable bed, easy parking, complimentary coffee in the lobby, pleasant staff, great location.
Noise from adjoining room: you could hear everything next door! The hotel wasn't too busy, so I asked to move and reception put me at the far end of the corridor. Phew!
hotel room was nice roomy and clean staff was great
no suitcase stands had to put suitcases on floor hard bending down, hard to find parking close to hotel
They still have a lot of updating to do to become a real destination Hotel. Phones, TV, Air, is not available in all rooms. Walls are thin when it comes to noise from other quest.
good location interesting redo of an old hotel with a history
lights in the room were insufficient, not enough and not bright enough only one bedside lamp
Nice building and rooms. Awesome location.
Lack of A/C in unforgivable and the one reason I will not stay here again.
The hotel is centrally located, and is within walking distance of downtown restaurants, museums, and art galleries. Despite being downtown, the hotel was quiet. The room was comfortable and restful. We liked the room decor.
The staff were always helpful and quick to respond to any request.
The town was pretty sleepy, not much to do.
Ambience, location. Friendly staff. Comfortable beds
Room was a bit warm, no option to control the temp without opening a window, not sure if we could have. Booked a single queen so we could have a fridge, a we were given a double queen with no fridge, ended up being ok. No fan in the bathroom. Sink took a long time to drain and the water in the shower was only warm at full temp.
Charming Art Deco hotel being very nicely restored; Silver City is pretty old mining town with nice period architecture. A number of interesting shops.
No breakfast, or breakfast voucher supposedly because it was the weekend (feeble excuse); Very small staff who seemed a little overwhelmed Virtually none of the shops were open on Sunday, which is very bush league; SC is in a very sparsely settled part of NM and isn't on the road to anywhere -- if the business community wants to attract visitors they should clean up their act
