Nice quiet location and a great beach
could do with a shuttle to town
Loved the location, loved the beach. Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Hau Tree Lanai were totally enjoyable. L
Location, comfort, friendly staff
one of my favorite places in hawaii to stay and visit
Welcoming atmosphere, very easy access to the beach (many interesting fish to be seen), away from the "madding crowds", some very good food in the Japanese and outside restaurants.
Great ocean front room with a view looking over Kaimana beach. The staff was friendly and breakfast at the Hao Tree was excellent. Far enough away from the craziness of Waikiki but close enough to walk to restaurants and nightlife.
Water pressure for the shower was pretty weak.
Location was great. A short walk to Waikiki Beach, away from all the craziness. The hotel staff were excellent, the beachfront was beautiful, the restaurant was great. I would stay here again.
They were doing renos while we were there. We were in a brand new room that wasn't set-up properly. The wifi didn't initially work (needed to call in a technician), the mini-fridge wasn't plugged in (we needed to open cupboards and drawers to find access the outlet), and strangest of all - the bathroom entry light was connected to the "toilet room" light, and it shone directly onto the bed! So if I had to get up in the middle of the night to use the washroom, I had to turn on a light that shone directly onto the bed. Very strange and easily fixable - poor design feature.
the location was amazing, you get the beach without the huge crowds. The staff when i checked in were warm and friendly. Couldnt have been happier. Will be booking here every chance i get.
Parking was a little difficult. other than that nothing to complain.
Value for the money Great location on the beach Romantic restaurant on site Just a short walk to Waikiki Beautiful ocean views from room
on the beach, away from Waikiki
tiny room for price
Great location, right on the beach. Connected to but a bit away from the huge Waikiki beach crowds.
It was perfect!
they were very gracious upgraded me to an ocean view room for additional $20/nt. The Valet parking was a necessity ! They were all helpful. Their restaurant Hau Terrace was an absolute delight to have it right on the main floor!!!!
No beverage maker for coffee or hot water..... Valet was $25/day pricey but necessity !
Valets, bell men, housekeeping, location (quiet in park adjacent to beach), restaurants, updated room, $45/day in taxes.
Occasional machine noises from rooms being updated.
It has its own beach that isn't crowded like Waikiki beach. It is close to downtown Waikiki, but in a quiet area.
Hotel is ageing, but clean and comfortable.
Excellent staff, great location at the beach and wonderful neighbourhood
An excellent location. Welcoming and helpful staff. Clean, modern and comfortable. Best value for money.
Air conditioioning was marginal at best for the room. The workout facilities were small and there was no mention of it not being a part of the hotel and there was a 20.00 daily charge to use it.
The Beach View, The Hau Tree Restaurant was amazing
The bed was very cheap and uncomfortable,
The hotel is located in a quiet area near Diamond Head. People were friendly, food was very good at the restaurant.
The restaurant was fabulous. The staff was very friendly. I liked having the open space around the hotel with the big park out front.
The room was clean but a bit dated. However, the bed was comfortable and I thought it was good value for the price of the room.
Their restaurant Hau Tree Lanai is fabulous, especially for the ocean view and their food, too. We also loved the big and cosy bed with soft sheets. Location is excellent at the end of Waikiki and walking distance to all shops and the busy area.
Employee of the hotel named Mike who was handling vallet parking on the day of our departure was particularly rude to us, he totally told us off for parking on an available spot at about 11.30 pm when no staff was there to park our car. The parking spot we took was blocking another car, but we didn´t notice that at night (it was not obvious). In any case, he could have informed us politely next morning when we were leaving but was really rude to us instead and continued telling us off after we actually apologized to him! Their staff in general seemed rather indifferent (only one employee - above - was actually rude, though).
Location, comfortable rooms, view, great beach access
No coffee in rooms.
We loved the location, just far enough out of Waikiki to feel the Hawaii vibe. The food amenities were awesome, nothing like having breakfast on the beach. The valets were awesome & one of the most important parts of the day. They always asked where we were going so they could give us insight to our day to make it easier & more enjoyable for us. The rooms were small but clean, the rest of the staff was attentive enough.
Well... on our stay we were awakened by a man screaming for help at 4:30 am. Our sliding door was closed & ac was on & we still heard him. When we peered off of our balcony & saw distress off the shore in the ocean my fiance threw on his swim trunks & headed to the beach. On his way his passed a security guard just standing there. This is an open air lobby to the ocean, if we heard it behind closed doors the security guard heard HAD to have heard the pleads for help!! After swimming out to help, my fiance realized the man yelling for help was with a friend who had passed out. They were spear fishing off the shore of the New Otani beach. That night after valiant efforts from my fiance & other guests a 36 year old man lost his life. It put a damper on our stay there & will be something that stick for life. We aren't looking for any compensation, but a thank you & I'm sorry you had to do that on vacation would have been nice. Instead they seemed to not blink an eye or even care.
