New York Helmsley Hotel

The hotel was a nice 4 star hotel although our room was more 3-4 star as it was a bit basic and had a small bathroom. The location of the hotel is its best feature - it's on 42nd Street opposite the Chrysler building and just a short walk from Grand Central or Times Square, and an easy walk to all the other Midtown sights. There's also easy access to a number of Subway lines at Grand Central so it's easy to navigate the rest of Manhattan.

There were no tea/coffee making facilities. The hairdryer didn't work. It was very noisy at night due to its location near Grand Central. Also, beware as our quoted price on Booking.com per night didn't include taxes so it wasn't the good value we thought.

Great focal point for sightseeing. Grand Central Station only 5 minutes away. Hotel staff were polite and courteous and very helpful. I would not hesitate to book again.

The rooms could do with a bit of updating but this is a very small niggle.

Very convenient location. Comfortable room, nice and quiet without any disruption. Housekeeping is clean and efficient.

This is a 40 stories hotel but they arranged me on the 7th floor even though I haved put in a request on a higher level when I confirmed my booking. I don't know if this is because I booked it through booking.com at a cheaper rate.

The best thing about the hotel was the location. Very close to the Grand Central Station. Even at night it was safe to walk across the street.

The staff was not kind. They were ok, but not what I was expecting about this hotel.

tea and coffee making facilities are a must at any hotel. cannot understand a hotel not having them.

I have stayed at the Helmsley New York many times and it is the best in the city for the price. You cannot beat its location to everything that you ever want to see or do in NYC. The new renovated lobby are looks terrific. The staff will help you in anyway that is required.

The room was fabulous - large, very modern, recently updated, very comfortable... one of the best I've ever had.

The 19% obligatory surcharge at the restaurant. The value of the tip should belong to the client, not the hotel.

We loved the location. Good start for all sightseeing. Rooms were comfy and clean.

Hotel staff did not exceed expectations and could be a bit more cheerful. Outragous rates for international calls.

The green soap I recived only on my first day,then I never did.

Location far from times square close to united nation,no swimming pool, no refrig. in room, expensive, aircondition is bad, my kids room had water leak and carpet soaked maint. want to leave two machine running all nite to suck the water I had to switch them off.

We booked a room with two double rooms. However on arrival we were told that any booking is only a 'request' so beware you may not get the room you think you are going to get!!
