Score from 420 reviews Good
The room is large and spacious as well as clean.
We had a nice room with a view of the ocean and a private balcony. It was good size and comfortable.
the shower head barely worked...
Great room and bed. Little peak-a-boo views of the ocean/bay. Pleasant setting and quiet. Too bad there is no elevator. Wifi was a little spotty and weak. For our purpose of the visit it worked fine
location and a very friendly staff
The lodge felt like we were glamping. Tons of deer. The beach was close very convenient. Very clean!!
The Only one entry into our room was through the sliding glass door. No ventilation. If you left the door open with just the screen people would look in as they walked by.
We had a problem with a clogged toilet in the evening (it was already around 9 p.m.). We left for dinner, and by the time we came back, all was fixed.
Breakfast was good but very crowded in the lobby (there weren't enough chairs for everybody to sit on and by far too little tablespace).
I could hear every word my neighbors said, both in the hotel and the apartments next door. I could hear my neighbors snoring all night. Woke up at 2am to hear rodents scurrying around inside the walls. Yikes! I've stayed at several other area hotels and all were preferable and more affordable than this.
Comfortable motel in good position.
Nothing to complain about
view, clean room, location
The staff were super nice and helpful and the location was great! The room itself was okay but no air conditioner that we could see or find - only heat, not needed in summer.
The price. Usually when I spend $200 a night the accommodations are outstanding and this was only okay. On our entire PCH road trip from San Diego to San Francisco in July 2014, this place was the most expensive and the least nice in terms of the accommodations. If the price were more reasonable, I'd stay again but I would look for a nicer and better deal first the next time I'm in the area.
Beautiful Location. Could even see the Ocean. Staff responded to concerns.
Security consisted of sliding glass doors with cheap locks.Little privacy because ventilation requires opening the door. Bathroom very small. Slow draining pluming. Pillows too soft. Trash can very small and only one in the room.
The room was adequate for our family of four and reasonably comfortable as a base for sleeping and showering. When I requested a second pillow each, these were provided. Adequate continental breakfast if you arrived early, basic provisions if you got up later as the more choice items ran out quickly! Small breakfast area but we enjoyed taking breakfast back to eat on our terrace - we would have liked 4 chairs instead of two so that we could all sit down together on the terrace.
Tiny bathroom - even the wash basin is in the bedroom as it won't fit in the bathroom. Very thin walls, so sound travels. No frills or luxuries - it was very dated and felt quite basic, especially in comparison with the other places we stayed on our trip - and we felt we got better value for money elsewhere. We did not need the swimming pool but could have been disappointed to find it out of action if we had expected to use it.
Close to the beach. Comfortable room and bed.
No air conditioning. It was hot and stuffy in the room.
Great location, very helpful staff, especially Erna. Enjoyed using the patio.
A bit noisy, I could hear the upstairs neighbors walking above us, and TV from next-door neighbors.
OK place, bit distant from both Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf but nice location. Coolest thing was the pool - and it was closed for some reason! At night a dozen raccoons came to hang out at the pool, climbed the fence, had a great time and we got to watch them from the second floor - very cool ... so, hotel OK, racoons awesome!
We loved that it was closed to Monterey and walking distance to the beach.
The pool was closed Pillows on the beds were not comftable. Too soft
It was very noisy, because of a large group girls and boys, they where running around, it was like they running in our room...
Location was excellent
Tall man on reception who seemed not to be really bothered. Pool not open in high season. No attempt at breakfast offered for early leavers.
Was told there were no ocean view rooms available but lo and behold room #218 (double bed) we were given had an ocean view from both in and outside. A pleasant surprise. Deer wandering the grounds. Short walk to the beach and a gorgeous 2 mile walk from Monterey Aquarium. I would definitely stay here again. Continental breakfast was plenty even for my 16 y/o son. My only negative would be the tiny bathroom space. But this isn't a resort hotel, it's a great place to crash after a day at the beach or whale watching in the bay. Highly recommended.
Good location, charming, clean and comfortable. Decent continental breakfast. 4 rooms booked , all quaint and charming. Each a little different. All guests were happy.
The pool was out of service due to raccoon problems. This was disappointing after a long tiring car ride.also rooms were kind of a maze. Late arrivals had difficulty finding their room. There was a discrepancy over the prices of the rooms between booking.com and the lodge. It was smoothly resolved by staff. We had a nice stay.
No towels in our room. Bed was just ok. Breakfast was mediocre. Coffee in lobby was COLD. Tables in the lobby were still dirty from breakfast when we checked in at 4p.m.
quiet great location
We wanted to order a pizza and had a hard time figuring out where and how...handout given to us said to call the office dial '0' but in fact you needed to dial '00'
The quietness of the property. The location to the beach and downtown shopping. For the most part the Staff was friendly and accommodating. The wildlife, everything from the deer to the doves.
The cost seemed to be extremely high as the grounds needed much attention, the pool was unusable. A continental breakfast vs a full breakfast as the property next door. Dirty dripping trees which made a mess on the cars and sidewalks and a possible slip and fall issue. The bathroom could have been cleaner and the tub was very slippery. The bath mat needed to be bigger or have non skid strips on the tub floor. One of our party slipped and had bruises from head to foot. The man feeding the wildlife bread when it is posted everywhere to not feed the wildlife! Raccoons were a little scary!
Good location, but it's noisy. If you want to sleep past 8 a.m. forget it. No insulation and you hear kids running and adults talking. Not very relaxing but OK for a night.
Fantastic location. Close to everything. Great staff. We would definitely go back.
