The location is good. Almost close to everything.

The breakfast is incredibly bad, even in terms of continental breakfast. The room smells rotting and has very little natural light.

Very helpful staff, comfortable beds and great location.

I wasn't able to find any ghosts on the fifth floor..

I liked the price for the room.

I did not like the size of the room, I feel as if we were given the "downsized room" since we bought it on a special. Very disappointed.

Good location, helpful staff. This is hotel is good for solo or single travellers, but I won't recommend it for couples who want to have a relaxing time at the hotel!

Hotel rooms need some refurbishment especially carpets.

Location is great! Also, the fact they have onsite parking and if even if you don't get that (it was full when we got there) you can park right next door at an underground garage. That is a plus in SF!

The staff was wonderful and the rate was reasonable. I would highly recommend the Opal and plan on going back!

Not up to me standards

Very good breakfast and complimentary cofee (almost a Starbucks). All employees were very kind and respectfull, especially those serving breakfast. Good facilities and location. Very satisfied in all aspects.

Can't use credit card for shuttle to airport, contracted at the hotel.

Loved the location and Mels diner next door. Was really good value for money.

The location is awesome and the public transportation around the hotel makes it super easy to reach any part of the city.

The constant detergent smell in the room.

The staff at the front desk when we checked in were like ice. We felt unwelcome and felt like we were imposing on them when we checked in. That first impression colored the remainder of our stay.

Hotel was ok. Good location and great breakfirst in "Mel´s Drive In".

Suzanne from the reception is a mix between a Pitbull and a Dobermann. Very unfriendly.

Well Priced. Located centrally in San Francisco. Provided free continental breakfast (Bagels, toast, boiled eggs, yogurt, muffins, juice, tea, coffee). Clean.

These are minor and would not affect my decision to stay at The Opal again. Staff quoted inaccurate prices for muni passes and bart. They pushed the hop-on hop-off tours which costs much more than we spent on a week-long muni pass. Maybe these guys don't actually live in the city. Rooms don't get cleaned unless you put out the "service please" sign. There was no place to obtain a fork or knife to eat food we brought back to the room. There are biodegradable plastics and even utensils made from wood and other eco friendly materials. Breakfast ends at 10am. Everything is removed from the breakfast area promptly. (Please consider extending to 10:30 or 11:00)

I like that it was closed to restaurant.

I didn't like that the room was small the bathroom sink was small there was no refrigerator in the room. The beds felt small. The carpet seem dirty.

I thought the staff very knowledgeable and helpful.

Carpeting in room old and stained. It was clean but really needs to be replaced. No bar/lounge on site.

Location was perfect for our destination event at the Fillmore Theater. Taxi availability and food nearby were great as well. Very friendly, prompt, and helpful staff. Would stay again!

A little dated. Needs a re-vamp. Smelt "old and musty", but it was clean. Needs easier access from under ground parking to hotel lobby, we had to carry suit cases up/down from/to parking/lobby. No Welcome pack in room showing breakfast arrangements or any other hotel information.

Walking distance to Union Square, Bart Station, Civic Center, Theater. On site parking available but limited to 60 spaces. Front desk is knowledgeable about recommended streets for walking at night.

No onsite parking was available when we checked in at 8 pm on a Monday night. We parked 2 blocks away at the AMC garage. It is isolated and inconvenient if I were a solo female traveler concerned about safety.
