The diner next door was great (Mel's Diner). Staff were friendly We had someone open up our hotel door at about 11 pm - they had been given the same key to our room!! Not enough room for everyone to sit down and eat their breakfast - very small selection of foods. Had to pay to use the internet.

Close to Union Square, Limitless Tea&Coffee, Fine Neighborhood and Desk Personnel, Secure and silent. We had no negative events while staying there. Carpets were too old and dirty, Our room(333) was very dark, breakfast was poor (no cheese, no olive), room rate was high,

I like the location, cleanliness ,friendly staff , convenience of being able to walk into Mels Diner from hotel lobby. will recommend to others if traveling to san francisco.Thank you, Mary Ann Not explaining the cab deposit more clearly..front desk kept $10 deposit and separate when I asked cab driver about the deposit he said that it was something the hotel charged and lost my deposit...$10 isn't a big deal but needs to be explained better and not leave a bad taste in your mouth on your last day of check out...

Friendly staff, good housekeeping, comfortable bed, great location, especially to the opera. Breakfast was chintzy, crowded and rushed. The staff closed the room exactly at 9:30 and we were rushed and hassled. This is no way to treat guests. Also, very poor selection of food. For the first three days, for example, we only had bread and juice and condiments. For the price of the room the Opal can do much better. How about cereal and some hot food - eggs, bacon, etc.?

Location and price were good (there was a promotional rate at that time). The breakfast could be improved. The waitress took out all the stuff while guests were still serving theirselves.

Location to Mel's Diner The beds were awful, my shoulder is still sore. The lobby is beautiful, they should have spent some of the chandelier money on better beds and soap. The vagrant who acted like the garage opener was a surprise and a little unsettling, my kids were a little taken a-back.

The staff was really polite. I felt comfortable and that was good because it was my first time staying in a hotel for 3 days. It was clean and breakfast was fenomenal. It was close to the areas I visited and the information access was prompt.

The receptionist was kind to my children and helpful The breakfast consisted of white bread, mini white bagels, juice, coffee and hard boild eggs. I don't expect a lot but some wheat bread and cereal would be a nice addition.

The Opal is an excellent stay for the price. The staff is very helpful and nice. The breakfast was good, the location was good, I would definitely recommend it. There really is anything I didn't like about my stay at The Opal.

The room was big and the breakfast was helpful. It was clean. The beds were comfortable. The shower was nice. I liked the window and the free internet access was great I would have liked more space in the bathroom for tolietries. It would be nice if the bathroom was located where the closet was so it was not right in front of the beds for others sleeping. The TV was outdated/

This place is a boutique hotel. If that style suits you, then this is the perfect place. I was surprised to see how spacious my room was. AND, although it's an older property, my bathroom was EXTREMELY clean. Internet and a limited breakfast are included. I'm not a boutique hotel fan. In fact, I prefer more modern, newer properties. That being said, the staff was great and my accomodations were very clean. The bed is ok and the TV is older (tube-TV). This isn't a high-end place, but it meets the need.

Basically the time I left Well, all started, when we checked in. The gentlemen at the reception couldn't have been more annoyed that he had to work "that hard" now. It continued, with: small rooms, loud pipes, paper thin walls, a horrible breakfast selection (toast and some fruit, that's it), hi-speed internet access (benchmarked: 12.5 kb/s at a wired! Connection) and vending and ice machines that did not work. Never again

“This is a very new hotel with nicely decorated rooms! Breakfast was good and healthy with hams and salad on top of the usual bagels and waffles. Hotel shuttle was useful and convenient for getting to places such as Union Sq and Fisherman's Wharves. On the whole, Cova Hotel exceeded my expectations for its price. I will definitely be back again!” Tan, Singapore |
