Breakfast is not great, very basic.
Wi if didn't work even with password
Free breakfast was very decent, wi fi good
It really needs an update
Clean, staff very pleasant
The area of town. Parking in lot was very scarey!!!
Big rooms. Handy. Helpful staff
Homeless people in San Francisco
This is our second stay here. The top feature of this hotel is the staff. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and give the impression that they love their job and want you to have the best stay ever. On booking I made a specific request for a room on the top floor, which we were given. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. We love the decor in the lobby area. The area is central and easy to get to Union Square or public transport. Few homeless around but they are not threatening.
Rooms don't have fridges, although there are ice machines on two floors. No safe in the room, although the security getting into the hotel is really good.
The area was within walking distance of Walgreens and restaurants. Very nice interior with beautiful stained glass. Good size room.
Couldn't hook up with busses to take us to Fisherman's Wharf directly from the Opal. Had to walk 5 or 6 blocks to the Union Sration, hub for sightseeing busses. We are an older couple.
Wifi was good
Shabby, old rooms including bedding. Breakfast is rubbish. Obscenely overpriced for the quality of the hotel
Across the road is the best diner in the world Tommys it history food and low priced drinks made our holiday then to get back to a quite comfortable clean room made for a great stay the staff where really helpful nothing was a problem
Breakfast was like a cattle farm noisy room with a lot of pushing and shoving we overcame this by having breakfast else where. It was hard to get the machine to give up its water suggest you buy supplies and bring in
Good location and rooms were clean. Ample toiletries supplied in the bathroom. 15 min walk to Union Square and plenty of shop and restaurants close by.
I felt like an inconvenience to the reception staff (3 out of 4 staff were like this). By all means they weren't rude but just lacking any enthusiasm IMO. Wifi didn't work once in our room. When I rang down to reception (night staff) I was told it's working fine, come down to lobby area.....another example of poor customer service. I expected wifi to work in my room and not have to go down to lobby area to catch up on some work! Breakfast was really lacking, ended up having breakfast somewhere else each day. All in all I would stay here again but not before I tried to find a cheaper hotel! Perhaps it was just our booking but for the price, I was expecting much more. If it was cheaper I would be much more forgiving on all of the above, sorry!
Old world ambience in the lobby was impressive. Remodeled bathroom was nice - but way too much tile- it's suppose to be an accent?!?
I have NEVER stayed somewhere where the bed spread had been patched ( albeit poorly) . The décor of the room was a nightmare! The light fixtures were so ugly and installed incorrectly. The furniture looked like it came from a yard sale; in a bad part of town.
They have really nice pillows
It is over priced very expensive and shouldn't be this is a $60 a night room
spacious rooms laundry for guests kind employees breakfast ok
at night the location seem sort of dangerous the room wasn't ready when I arrived despite having notified arrival time
Diner next door Friendly cooperative staff
Slow wifi Overcrowded breakfast with minimal choice.
Location and excellent food at Mel's Diner next door. If you like 50's style charm, long, narrow hallways, simple amenities for reasonable cost, this is your place. Good location, not in center of hustle and bustle, makes for easier travel.
Staff were not too friendly or helpful. Parking was limited and expensive. Bed was uncomfortable. No refrigerator in room.
Good location, with easy transport to Union Square, Macy's and all the commercial center. Free WiFi, good breakfast included, and good reception from employees. The minimum room size can fits 4 adults, besides I was alone. They clean up the rooms every day.
Rooms with poor light which is acceptable, but the restrooms are terrible, with one weak light at the mirror or at the roof, but no light at all in the bathroom, letting it to dark! I had to change the room because the door of the bathroom was broken and felt over me! At the day I did check-in, I asked to do check-out some hours later and an employee said that's is all right and they would charge me an half day, but at the day of check-out the manager was really rude saying that the employee couldn't do that and I should leave as soon as possible, and they charged me an half day.
your Day Start with Good Breakfast with Smily Face.you are set for the Day.
The room was comfortable and clean. Was about a 15 min walk to Union Square. Breakfast was OK although crowded.
Wouldn't walk around this area at night. The onsite parking was approx $50 per day. Don't eat at the diner in the building. The food was awful.
The location isn't great, but if you want to walk about a mile, there are some good restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. It's pretty cheap. It was alright, overall.
The hotel is across the corner from a major construction project, making it very loud. I was awoken every day around 5:30. The sink was broken when I arrive (which was promptly fixed), and the bike and treadmill were both faulty.
I appreciated the staff of the hotel especially JUSTINE... she is very accommodating wearing her smiles.
just on the 1st day when we checked in, the smell if the room was no good ( maybe the rugs on the floor)...our complaint was attended & made our room comfortable...
All the furniture is very old....
The hotel was clean & our room was large which was fantastic for us as we were 4 adults sharing.I had asked for a quiet room & that was what we had.The complimentary breakfast was good, fruit, yogurts, boiled eggs, toast, bagels, jam & they seem to top up regularly. The location was good bus stop outside hotel. The diner has great burgers & soup!! Area felt safe even when we walked into the square.
Expensive to park the car, but this was partly remedied by parking at a garage nearby.
Location, breakfast, nice staff
It smelled musty. Old carpet in a damp place is not a good choice. The room smelled really bad, so did our clothes after one night in this hotel that desperately needs a renovation.
The surrounding area full of the homeless and druggies
