    All the hotel staff we met were very friendly and helpful.

    There was no kettle in the room for tea. We enjoyed drinking tea in the lobby (it was a lovely area to sit and tea & coffee making facilities were there) however the hot water was sometimes empty in the lobby and this was disappointing when the plan was to have a cuppa before going to bed.

    The staff was amazing, especially Ofelia; she guided us expertly which made our trip. The location was very good easy access to public transportation and tours as well as walking distance to Union Square. Would recommend and would go back.

    The lobby needs sprucing up especially the carpeting. Breakfast could have been healthier and room cleanliness couldve been better it wasnt dirty but dont like bedspreads they skeeve me.

    It had a historical look as I expected it would be, loved it. Mel's restaurant made it so easy for dinner when we arrived and breakfast in the morning.

    I like the location and the hotel itself. The hotel seems old but they still have the taste. Bathroom is clean and free wifi.

    I didn't like how the staff in the morning. They should learn more customer service.

    Staff at reception are friendly and helpful

    The location is too noisy, breakfast is disgusting. I am sure they have a deal with the diner next door. Our room was very dark and small. Carpets are not very clean.

    The Staff friendliness, the continental breakfast, the willingness to help from the front desk, and friendliness and accommodation they showed to us for specifics of our trip.

    The Parking pricing. If there was some form of deal that hotel guests could get for parking, that would be a definite perk!

    The staff, especially, Ofelia, was awesome. We were able to park our car in. Their lot before we checked in so we roamed around the City, came back, checked in and then then went on one of the City tours. Breakfast quite adequate. Love San Francisco.

    -friendly staff -although located central, silent and comfortable rooms -all expected facilities worked as promised

    -often no chance, to find a vacant table for breakfast -the crowded lobby felt inconvenient to me

    We walked a lot and used the excellent bus system.75 cents for us oldies!! Breakfast was good, a pub over the road and the diner attached to the Opal were very handy.

    Area, but we had read the reviews and were pre prepared

    The hotel is in an area of SF which is undesirable to walk around at night especially with children. The breakfast area was over crowded and it was a challenge to sit anywhere without a wait. The room we stayed in was at the back behind the carpark where wifi wouldn't work. Staff helpful.

    The rooms are very comfortable and large.

    The breakfast room was very small compared to the hotel's number of residents. It was also very limited.

    Coming from Phoenix the Opal was a nice warp into history. The room seemed classy and was so large for San Francisco. Loved that it was across from tommy's joint. Breakfast was good as well. san Francisco is a bit hard with 3 young children.

    One knock was the parking and resort fees. I booked the hotel for $129, but left after $194 fees.

    Breakfast is included, they give a small selection, a bit more than a continental breakfast, I also liked the tea/coffee facilities available 24 hours in the lobby which has a nice comfortable homely atmosphere

    The room was spacious but the window was quite small, not letting in much light

    The hotel is centrally located on Van Ness; there are plenty of great cafes and shops withing walking distance. The room we had had old furnishings but was clean. It was very quiet. I will probably stay there again if I can get a room in the $200 range.

    $42 for parking is a bit much, but I hear that's normal for SF. The view out our window was a vacant, run-down building, so that was a bummer. We were there the weekend of the SF Marathon, so the only room left was one for $309, which we felt was a bit much for the room. We have paid less in other cities throughout the world and had a much nicer, newer room.

    We checked in and went to our room and discovers that it was not the room we had booked. When I went down to the reception they to me they didn't have any other rooms available so I had to check with them the next morning. The lady at the reception was in no way helpful or tried to fix the situation. I did not accept and cancelled my booking. Found another much better hotel.
