Great value; nice continental breakfast & coffee in the morning; comfortable bed. Perfect for a one-night stay/place to crash after a night out in the city. Conveniently located on VanNess.
Not enough outlets; tiny bathroom with poor lighting and very difficult to maneuver (opening the door blocked the toilet so you sort of had to step into the bathtub to shut the bathroom door).
The staff was great
The room was nice and pretty roomy for 3 people. Free breakfast, friendly staff. They sent us a bottle of wine since it was my birthday. Close to the wharf, nearby stores like CVS, nearby restaurants (highly recommend Mel's Diner next door), and easy to catch a bus. It was a great location for out of state visitors.
No ventilation in the bathroom. There were only windows with no screens.
location and easy to find. Staff was very nice, and didnt have a problem to change my room.
parking was an issue. its always hard to find parking in SF, but I was lucky to find parking 2 blocks down, from the hotel.
Good, friendly front desk staff, great location, has Tommy's restaurant across street (which is phenomenal value and fun, too), excellent movie theater next door, easy walk to Opera, Symphony, Asian Art Museum, CIty Hall and other amenities. Enterprise car rental nearby.
Free breakfast is pretty drab. (But it is free!) OK if in a hurry or really "on a budget." Otherwise go elsewhere.
Location is good, a 10-min walk to Union Square. We travalled with our 4-month old baby and the staff was helpful and friendly, providing a crib. Breakfast was included.
Mattress felt old and too soft. Breakfast is diverse but doesn't include hot food. Many homeless persons in the streets around, as there is a shelter a block away (though this is an issue with all of SF).
Staff friendly , helpful. Convenient and big room.
More choice for breakfast.
Broken fire alarm in my room and no one fixed it.
The location is very good ,bus stop at the corner . Clean bathroom ,room size is good , good breakfast ,and they have tea and coffee all the time in the lobby ,the staff are so nice and reply for any assistant might be required by the guest .
So, the beds were comfortable and the room looked nice. It's definitely an old, old building; it had a very of smell about it but still was nice nonetheless. Staff was very friendly and super nice and it's a pretty great location.
I was disappointed a bit by the size of the "King Room" when the hotel staff came and cleaned the room each day there was also random towels and whatnot laying about the room, not folded neatly and put away. Also, the "Free Wi-Fi" Is free for the first 24 hours then $5 a day thereafter. And, I really wish that they would have told me it was $36/day + taxes and fees for parking.
Bed was very comfortable, cleaning staff did a great job every single day, breakfast was always very good, and lobby staff was friendly and polite.
Room was just a little bit smaller than I was expecting. While the hotel itself is nice and is located relatively close to tourist spots like the wharf and the presidio, the area around the hotel has a lot of homeless and seems kind of rough at night. Also, the Wi-Fi, while free, needs to be signed into every 24 hours, which is just a little annoying. For the price though, these things aren't that big of a deal.
Excellent staff, very helpful and welcoming. Location. Felt very safe in hotel. Quiet rooms.
Hotel corridors decor is very grim . Surface on ceilings look bad and choice of paint colour on woodwork is very drab.Tea and coffee could be hotter.
The large rooms/closet! The friendliness & knowledge of the staff. Delicious continental breakfast. Plenty of very nice toiletries! 5 block walk or 5 min taxi ride to the War Memorial Opera House! The ability to open the windows in the room to feel the pacific breeze! 24 hour Mel's Diner right next door (Very delicious and you get a lot of food, but a bit pricey)!
Elevator was small & slow Older hotel (but the charm is wonderful).
Room size is adquate.
No fridge, no microwave and no cofee maker.
location for my work in SF price very clean
older smell from cleaner at first arrival bed was not as conmfortable as I would have liked
The place was clean and tidy and the foyer was quite nice.
The breakfast was more like a hostel breakfast than a hotel one. Also it was quite expensive for what it was, and the neighbourhood was a little sketchy.
The room was large. Staff were quite helpful and friendly.
Many homeless people and drug users around. Quite a decent walk to the attractions of San Fran, so if you have any problems walking long distances then I would avoid this hotel. Very noisy location. My room was just above the restaurant on Van Ness, so I could hear the music from the restaurant coming through the floor, and the traffic noise was very loud, particularly on the weekend. The breakfast was very basic and not very nutritious at all. Although at least there was some fresh fruit and tea.
Location, and the comfort of room.
The charged me $53 more on my card without telling me or printing it on the invoice.
Area was typical San Francisco but overall safe. Lobby was nice and entry was key card controlled. Older hotels have aches and pains and this is no different. I chose the hotel because the GM responded to bad reviews and it showed he was involved. I read noise complaints but found the room quiet given it is an urban hotel.
One of the elevators was out of order and according to staff had been for over a month. The king room was tiny with just enough room to walk. Bathroom was tiny. I reached out to the GM to confirm the room was truly a king and his response was older hotels have small rooms. Typically a King room refers to more than bed size.
Once it gets dark, neighborhood gets sketchy but that's SF.
The location is central, with lots of connections to the local transportation(metro, buses). The hotel is clean, at an affordable price.
Breakfast is overall good but the eating room is quite small. There are moments, after 9, extremely busy...and inconvenient. At 8.30 it's fine:) because you might find a place to stay and if lucky even a table.
It was in the middle of the city
They falsely advertized comfortable rooms. when I arrived there I was so uncomfortable.
location is great! right next door are the movies and Mels diner on the other corner. made for a nice night after sightseeing all day.
