Rough area, hotel is now run down... Needs a major face lift! Breakfast was very poor.
Reasonably close to attractions in Chicago, barber shop downstairs is fantastic.
No fridge, no real water pressure in shower, small bathroom.
Wi-fi speed is very slow.
The hotel staff was very friendly.
Fist morning on our stay, I woke up with little red itchy scars on my legs and arms. I didn't take them into consideration because I thought I was bitten by mosquitoes. The next day the scars got worse and they were itchier. Then I thought they were allergies caused by the different food we tried in San Francisco. However, when I come back home I learned from a doctor that those scars were bed bug bites. I was very scared because they might have traveled back home with me. I asked for a bed bug detection and now my house is being disinfected. Opal is my worst hotel experience. The bed sheets and towels were not clean and they were smelly. Although the hotel room was spacious the window was looking at the dark area between the blocks so the room was very dark. The breakfast was very plain. The neighborhood is dangerous because it is in the border of Tenderloin area.
- Great location, close to Fishermans W, close to Union Square (under 60min walk) - Good wifi - Brad at the reception is an awesome guy
- the neighborhood is not the best, lots of homeless people - staff is uninterested except for Brad he's just awesome! - breakfast is a joke (paper plates, plastic cups, everyday the same food)
bad location bad staffs bad Clearness Bad comfort Bad in Every Things
Very good hotel in a nice part of San Francisco. Everything was of a very good standard.
Breakfast could have had more choice.
I had my room ready and clean from the first day. Nice staff.
Old hotel, poor breakfast.
Parking availability and cst
Service very accurate
Noises coming from the adjacent room, isolation not too good
Location, affordable, easy to get around with public transportation
A little to close to tenderloin area
The bed was clean and comfortable, the staff were helpful. Easy access to public transportation. Good value for the money
the area was a little rough
The staff were very helpful especially Sergio!
A comfortable older style Hotel.
I felt unsafe in the area surrounding the Hotel.
All the hotel staff we met were very friendly and helpful.
There was no kettle in the room for tea. We enjoyed drinking tea in the lobby (it was a lovely area to sit and tea & coffee making facilities were there) however the hot water was sometimes empty in the lobby and this was disappointing when the plan was to have a cuppa before going to bed.
Location is great, near to bus stop and close to most of sightseing. Breakfast was fair. Large Room.
Restaurants near by.
No fridge in the room. Parking prices.
The staff was amazing, especially Ofelia; she guided us expertly which made our trip. The location was very good easy access to public transportation and tours as well as walking distance to Union Square. Would recommend and would go back.
The lobby needs sprucing up especially the carpeting. Breakfast could have been healthier and room cleanliness couldve been better it wasnt dirty but dont like bedspreads they skeeve me.
Just renovated room Good continental breakfast Location; on walking distance of Union square Good restaurant accessible from hotel lobby
Breakfast space to crowded
It had a historical look as I expected it would be, loved it. Mel's restaurant made it so easy for dinner when we arrived and breakfast in the morning.
Clean hotel. Friendly staff. Well-connected location.
Wifi connection in my room was sometimes weak and unstable. Breakfast.
Ofelia, at the front desk was great. attentive, kind and very professional. I told her I was going to send her a letter of appreciation to Opal.
Location was Great! Comfortable bed. Good shower pressure. Clock radio with iPhone dock. WiFi worked very well.
Breakfast didn't include cereal. The B'fast room was dreary & crowded. Always a line at reception. Needed a safe, but was allowed to check valuables at the front desk for free. Parking our car was very expensive.
Cheese and wine night! Fairly convenient for the city. Nice diner next door. You have to get a bus into Union square or china town.
Very noisy pipes in room even though I asked for a quiet room. Breakfast was awful! It's fine for 1 night but pricey for what it is.
-It was Air Conditioned. -Comfortable Bed. -Close to Japan Town and Other Major Tourist Landmarks.
-$40/night for Parking in their small Secure Parking Area -Waking Up in the middle of the first night for a disturbance between an Employee and a Guest in the Hallway. -Front Desk Employees weren't the nicest. -Our Room's Carpet had several "Questionable" Stains.
