Large room...comfortable...clean....staff was helpful once in our room
Confusing getting to Front Desk for checking in....no one offered to assist with bags.....
People and staff helpful and friendly excellent buffet breakfast Room was large quiet and beds very comfortable We had a good stay
Gorgeous hotel, great location, bar in the lobby has great service.
Rooms are small as you would expect in an older -- but super elegant-- hotel.
Location outstanding. lobby lovely, rooms pleasant and quiet considering in a large city. Staff helpful and pleasant.
Wanted coffer maker in room , but had to request it instead of jus being provided.
Awesome hotel!!! Was traveling with my Mom and we were both VERY impressed with staff, cleanliness, and ease of hotel location.
There was nothing about this hotel we did not like.
location, convenience and friendly staff are some of the good features of this hotel
Room was small but I suppose you cant expect bigger rooms in chicago, breakfast was not included in the room rent and there was no coffee machine in the room.
I have been to Chicago several times before and this has been the best hotel experience.
Your location is great!
The room was extremely small and the the rooms are not well sound proofed, we were constantly awaken by guests returning to their rooms late at night.
Our stay was everything we expected and more. Our room was quiet and clean. All the staff were polite and informative and hard workers. If we go back to Chicago we'll be staying at Palmer House - a home away from home.
Pillows we're too soft for our liking but not a big deal.
Some rooms are so small - literally the bathroom door would hit the toilet if you would open more than 90 degrees. It was so cramped and hit-or-miss because for the same price, our friends were in a larger room with the same amount and sized beds
The Empire Room was gorgeous, and the guest rooms were clean, and comfortable. Location cannot be beaten, with both Red and Pink/Brown/Purple Rail stops just 1 block away, and just 2 blocks to the Art Institute! Staff was very helpful, cheerful, and effective in all our dealings.
These are small matters, but: 1) There was some unevenness in the floor of our room, so it was (at first) a little difficult for me as a partially disabled person. 2) Although I specified need for Accessible room when booking, the room we got was not outfitted with safety railings in the bathroom. Staff brought up a shower chair when asked, though, and the soap niches in the shower could be used as hand-rails to some extent, so it worked out OK. 3) The purpose of our trip was to see Dodgers - Cubs baseball, and I was astonished to learn that the hotel doesn't carry Cubs games (or Dodgers either for that matter.)
Liked the location between blue line and red line. It was a great location for us.
prices for breakfast-outrageous
Accessibility, nice amenities and closeness to Millenial Park, Art institute and Columbia College. Good walks to Nordstrom and Art Expo at the Navy Pier. Concierge directed us to convenient bus lines to get to our destinations.
Clean. Quiet. Excellent location!!!!
Beds could have been a bit more comfortable
One staff person checking in 7 people - very slow. Tried 5 times during my stay to call the front desk, never received an answer. They need more staff.
I didn't book the Palmer House to watch television, but it (the television) is obviously programmed to trick and/or frustrate the guest into purchasing programming, and deliberately makes access to free TV exceptionally difficult and frustrating. On the basis of this deliberate "shell game" practice, I expect to stay elsewhere on my next visit to Chicago.
This hotel is really great, rooms are small but nice and clean, the staff is nice and all what I loved it is that they have a great lobby and you are at 10, 15 min from every attraction from Chicago!
There are some things what I didn't liked, you have to pay for wi-fi ( we are in 2014, the internet should be for free!), you don't have refrigerator, coffee or tea in your room.
Everything good value great location breakfast a great boon efficient staff
It is very close to the metro/subway. Within walking distance from major landmarks. Clean and well maintained.
Internet or parking not included in the price, both of which is quite expensive.
Gorgeous lobby area, Starbucks on site, great gym.
Small room and didn't like decor. Hotel very large and impersonal. No tea and coffee facilities or robes in rooms.
Everything was perfect, right in the center, close to the subway. Fantastic historical feeling inside.
The included breakfast is very nice. The room are well equiped.
No good view from the window.
