staff and great location Very comfortable
lockwood restaruant not worth the $$ Food quality and wait staff not worth the $$ spent Walk out to Michigan ave and get a great meal worth the $!
;Location and .history. Elegant without being pretentious.
Bed and service (reception, bar, restaurant) were all great. Really cool historic hotel, it is even worth it just to stop buy and have a drink to check it out.
Pool really needs a remodel
The hotel is beautiful from bottom to top. The staff were extremely friendly and professional. The room was large and modern. Beds were perfect. The hotel offered many facilities.
We were surprised to know the wifi in the rooms were not for free. For the value of the stay it was expected to be part of the room rate.
Although this hotel has a serious size, it also maintains something of the cozyness of a smaller place. This is surely due to the very friendly and competent staff which is going the extra mile: I forgot an item in my room and a couple of hours later received an email with the good news that the item was secured in their 'lost and found' and asking me how I wanted it to be shipped to me: great!
On cold days as during my stay, it is not possible to get the bathroom warm since it lacks heating. It is also necessary to keep the room heating on during the night and that is a bit noisy.
Beds/pillows were superior Registration staff was courteous and efficient
The bathroom was small but looked updated. Unfortunately there was some black mold in the tile grout surrounding the bathtub.
Beautiful historic hotel! The staff and service was top quality. Exactly what I expected from an upscale hotel! Close to Millenium Park, The Art Institute, and State Street shopping. Try Miller's Pub for lunch or dinner! Excellent dining, reasonably priced.
I understand we got an excellent rate but Palmer House gets it right on so many levels. Had an Executive King room which gives you extra offerings at the Executive Lounge. Included are a great continental breakfast (most days include scrambled eggs and pancakes or waffles), sodas and coffee, snacks and Happy Hour from 5 to 7. All, I mean all, staff members couldn't have been more professional, Ernest, in the Executive Lounge, always made you feel special! The location lends itself to so many wonderful venues and restaurants.
One day room was missed by housekeeping but was taken care of by late afternoon. Also, didn't have love affair with our bed, a bit worn. Mind you, all of the pluses of this hotel offset these minor issues!
I Love the fact that they upgraded my room while I was checking in, what a awesome thing to do when its available, just a great impression.
The lobby was really crowded but it was New Years Eve so it was expected.
I really enjoyed the history, and fine details that have between out into the main areas. We really enjoyed walking around, and admiring the ballrooms as well.
The room we booked was above the pool. During common hours, we heard people down in the pool.
What a beautiful hotel, and the location couldn't be better! We will definitely be back!
- beautiful hotel entrance and lounge - great pool/hot tub - history of the hotel - location
- no complimentary wifi in room - room entrance had bubbling ceiling - small square pillows on bed
The location, the Christmas charm, it is always an enjoyable stay!
The water pressure im more was bad
ambiance awsome. quick check in and check out
WiFi wasn't free. Kids had to sit in the lobby for wifi. Why ? no towels by pool.
The decorations were great
getting the bags out of the car and to a porter and from a porter to the front door requires an act of congress.
Excellant breakfeast with friendly staff
Room very small.
Housekeeping every day. Free internet point in the lobby. Couple nice breakfast places nearby. Didn't went to hotel's bf. Good nearby transit connections, metro and local train. Walking distance from the park, Macy's and lots of other POI's. Very helpful consierges. Generally polite staff.
Room in the 13th floor was slightly overrated. It would definitely need a remake or some kind of renovation. I understand the valuing the old but it can be done better. Carpet was done, wallpapers were done, painting was done. Wallpaper in the bathroom not good idea. Beds or the matresses were newer I guess. Cannot say I would visit this hotel again for sure, but maybe if there's no other option.
The bed was amazingly comfortable. The service was prompt and friendly. Our room was immaculate, and the pool was on the seventh floor. That's pretty cool. I recommend buying the breakfast with your stay- PHENOMENAL.
When we got there, they told us we received a free room upgrade from a double to a king. I am pretty sure we got charged an extra $40 because the room was $139, but I received a bill for $188. I don't really mind because I had extra money to spend and the hotel was definitely worth the price. Maybe I messed something up when I booked it though! Who knows!
We were taking two 9 year old boys to Chicago for the weekend and wanted a quality hotel for a good price near Millennium Park. The Palmer fit the bill. The hotel staff is incredible and the room was spacious, quiet and clean. Best of all, we were a two block walk to Millennium Park and the metra lines. We would definitely stay again.
Parking. The hotel has no parking of it's own, which is common in Chicago, however, $75.00 to park for 25 hours is rather excessive.
The hotel is gorgeous and in an excellent location. Overall the staff was very friendly. Pool area was great
Long elevator wait times, not enough towels or washcloths provided, room cleanliness fell short, very pricey for what you get (paid a premium because of NYE and NYD)
The room was clean and cozy the bed was very comfortable.
Bottle water should have been in the room for the guest.
Complimentary breakfast when staying in the executive rooms.
No tea or coffee making facilities in the room although there are facilities in the executive lobby. Walls a bit thin as could clearly hear people next door when they raised their voices
The staff members were friendly
There were dirty room service dishes outside our door upon arrival. We requested a crib twice and never received one. We were charged a different (higher) rate than what was printed on our receipt at checkout.
Middle of the Loop district. Walk to Mellinium Center, museums, Mag Mile, restaurants, bars, shopping, Metra.
Long lines in hotel for check in/out, restaurant in hotel, long waits for elevators.
