Room and Overall Experience. And being bitten by SPIDERS.
Old abd rustic. felt like you step back in time. Staff was friendy and helpful making our stay enjoyable. Thanks!
Not enough towels in bathroom. Hear others in their rooms.
comfortable bed, open windows, polite front desk.
No ice machines; no refrigeration available to store hiking food, so few amenities.
Staff friendly. Nice lobby/drawing room. Old style hotel rooms nicely furnished.
Need an elevator. Seniors can't haul luggage up 24 stairs to the first level. one waste basket in room which wasn't emptied after first night.
Friendly owners. Made you feel right at home.
Wanted to stay longer.
resturant on premise, employees very helpful, quiet, clean and affordable
afterhours no vending machine or small frig in room/coffee
Overall atmosphere - throwback to a previous era hotel experience but with nicely updated amenities. Room was comfortable and cozy. Staff was most accomodating and pleasant. The sitting room and veranda are a "must visit."
No alcohol on the veranda. It would be nice to enjoy a glass of wine.
Great atmosphere Old fashioned Personal service
The stairs are a challange
Charming old hotel, that is run by a couple. While they don't have around the clock services, the rooms were clean, the beds were very comfortable, and it is the best value in Lake Placid.
Nice walkable distance from town
we liked pretty much everything: great location, spot clean, comfort and great setting, fun staff. Very commendable effort from current owners to restore the old charm of the building and turn it into such a good accomodation - with a twist! Will return.
nothing of note
Lots of character. Great staff. Rooms are being updated.
Renovation does not seem complete in our room, but it was nice.
Price. Not crowded. Room decor was not cookie cutter.
The wallpaper and the carpet in the common areas looked uncoordinated. Place would do better to get a style together as this location is not on a lake and has no view that I could recommend.
Fish Fry and German Biergarten in the evenings on the porch? How could we say no? :) Old hotel with lots of history. Parlor looks like it probably has for quite a long time. Very cool for folks into that sort of thing. Owner was friendly and we appreciated her hospitality!
It looks like the owners are working on updating the rooms, and that's a good thing. Rooms were dated - but clean and efficient. (And what we were expecting of course).
Location are great
Room and Hotel needs freshing
Good location at a walkable distance to lots of good things to do in lake placid. Room and bathroom clean to a good standard. Staff helpful when there.
Decor of lobby and lounge a bit tired and dated. Bed frame wobbly. It was disapppointing that there wasn't any sort of breakfast offered in the morning.
location and character of Inn
no elevator for guests, small bed- would have liked a king
Clean, friendly, price was very competitive, good shower, free wifi, restaurant on site
very thin walls made for a rough night's sleep, room layout was strange, bathroom very tight to move around in (and we are not large people), no wifi available in your room
Not too much ... It was one of the only ones available for the weekend I needed
Check in was 3pm - not a minute before. It was closed, there was a sign on the counter. No fridge in the room, wallpaper peeling in the room. Dirty window sills, bathroom sink didn't plug up, leaky shower head
I feel it needs updating the wallpaper was outdated and old it was expensive for the look of it its more worth 80 not 120$ I would say
Everything. Friendly, extremely helpful staff, great facilities, clean. Hot tub was really nice.
It would be nice if they had a refrigerator in the rooms.
Excellent location. The owner greeted us, and she was very knowledgeable about the area, very helpful. The bed was very comfortable - I normally do not sleep well in hotels, but had no problem, especially after a good walk downtown Lake Placid. Not a fussy hotel, but comfortable. The common room on the main floor was very charming.
No elevator - not a problem for us, but it would restrict many from staying there. Pipes for the sprinkler system were outside of the walls, which was just very strange. Good value for the money, but still expensive enough that a small breakfast would have been nice. Not sure when the restaurant is open. No hours posted, and they certainly were not open for dinner or breakfast when we were there.
It felt like a high quality bed & breakfast without the cheap breakfast and at a motel price.
Comfortable room and nice bathroom. Beautiful decor and wallpaper. Nice Victorian ambiance. It reminded me of my grandmother's house in the 1960's as she had all her original Victorian furniture and lamps and the like. She and my dad stayed on Saranac Lake in the 1920's but at a private cottage (yeah, big) of the same time era. Nice that they left the key at desk for us late arrivers. Sorry we missed the October Fest but maybe next time. A short walk down hill to the shops and bakery for breakfast.
There are a lot of stairs coming into the hotel as the lobby is on the second floor and there are no elevators to go up to our rooms. Carrying our luggage up so many levels got really tiring and many people can't do that. Especially with 5 or 6 floors. It's right next to a funeral home too. Kind of weird. No breakfast included either. But it still is a beautiful hotel and worth returning to.
