The location, included breakfast, and the price
Bedrooms too small
Nice staff and okay rooms. Close to busses to go into the city.
No towels which would have been nice. The neighborhood is bad especially 6th st. But it's only a 2 min walk through to a nicer part of town or busses. Parking was kind of a hustle.
Location was ok.
Expensive for what it was
It was clean.
Dirty room, sheets with hair, bathroom with trash full. Super dangerous area. No recommendable to anyone.
Cheap and friendly staff
Dodgy neighborhood, NO WIFI in room unlike what is said
For the price we got a small, clean room with a shared bathroom. If you need you just need a place to stay at night, we can recommend this hostel. Take the "Grey Line" bus for a hop-on-hop-off tour and be back at daylight :)
The part of Frisco, where the hostel resides is not the best. I won't be outside at night there. Jam was empty, restrooms weren't refilled ans Wifi didn't work.
Close to the city center and most attractions in the city. I asked for a quiet room, but I got really loud room with a view to 6th street. Fortunately, a very nice and professional girl (Angelica) working at the reception solved this problem by offering me another room, which was quiet and comfortable.
Bathrooms need renovation, 6th street with all its attractions - however, if you want to spend most time in the city and you are on the budget, Pontiac hotel is still a good place.
Just the cordiality of the people from the hotel
.terrible breakfast .many homeless people on the hotel street and there was a gunfire on the day I was there, terrible .the bathroom smelled awfully and it was a little dirty
The continental breakfast was pretty good and the staff were very polite and quick to assist us.
The area seemed pretty run down, and our car was broken into right outside the hotel.
I liked the price of this place. We went from staying on Broadway and Grant at a hotel to this. It was much cheaper here (only 70 a night for two people double room, whereas hotel downtown was 200 a night for two). The bathrooms seem about average for a hostel. They are clean, but a little older. The beds were fine. The rooms had some weird stains on the lamp, but, aside from that, they were ok. The front desk people were fine. We didn't talk to them much at all, but i'm sure they would have been helpful. Parking in the area was 94 for 3 days on 5th and Mission. The hostel is only a few blocks from main areas (Market, Mission) and you can catch transit there to get to the water or anywhere in San Fran. Me and my boyfriend walked mostly, unless it was at night. The area around the hostel is quite sketchy and even moreso at night.
The area was quite sketchy. There were a lot of homeless and mentally ill/drugged out individuals. Would recommend taking a cab later in the evening and avoiding walking in the area. Streets surrounding the area were not clean.
Because of the neibourwood, the dirt, the poor breakfast, the bad bed, the noisy street... you definatly don't want to go in Pontiac Hostels.
Reception staff was nice
Disgusting. I'm not picky at all but pillow had several hairs, sheets were old-stained and almost seeming to break. An armchair was also stained (maybe blood?) and had a cotton swab stuck in the fold. (?!) I just cancelled the booking and left!
Breakfast Localization (near BART Stations, bars, restaurants, pubs, bus stops) Staff (very attentive)
Noise (from the guests, streets, cars ...) Homeless people (they are everywhere nearby and they bother you)
Location is really convenient and even if the neighborhood is not fancy (a few homeless), it's at the center of everything (5 minutes walking of the metro, buses and cable car) Breakfast is included and really good (real nice juices, several breads and bagels, cereals, toaster etc...) Rooms are fine, clean, they do the job. Shared bathroom are ok. Staff is super nice ! Very useful (they moved us to another room when we told them that we couldn't get the Wifi signal from our room)
A sink in the room would have been nice Decoration is a bit old-fashioned No air conditionned but SF is a City where it's really not necessary
It is close to downtown.
It was not safety at night.
Great breakfast and helpful staff.
WiFi not usable in some rooms. More showers would be better.
There is no wifi connection so don't expect. Do not use 6th, use other alternative ways to reach hotel. So many homeless, dealers, prostitutes on 6th.
Honestly, it was terrible. The rooms were little and not attractive at all. The last day we assist at two different gunshot fights who were about 100 meter of the hotel. So the location is bad and it isn't secure !
Nice clean Room with TV
Wifi not available in the Room Have to be carefull at 6th street at night
Great location. Easy acces to transportation to travel the city! Night time may seem a bit grim ... But overall a very comfortable stay! Especially for what you're paying for!
good staff, rooms with big windows, breakfast ok, near the centre. common baths and showers clean (2 sh 2 bath) x floor, no queues.
nothing. i always felt safe, all those words about homeless around are absolutely too far overstated. i easily parked the car on the street at night (free from 6 pm).
Common shower room and restroom
Quite clean, many rosmaller eat and helpful personnel, good security at the hostel, good location
Wifi didn't work, door was very hard to close and open, no sink in the room, breakfast room very small, not the best street to live in but ok.
