The room was not dirty

Awful location, rude staff, minuscule towels, soap that smelled like pool chlorine, awful location, eerie hallways, stiff beds, prison style bathrooms, awful location

Leaving....not necessarily the hotel but the crusty old man that owns it....thank God his Son is hot and nice otherwise it would have been a complete week with the old man as Daddy Dearest. First he accused us of not paying our bill on front of other guests and staff Webb i had just paid the bill in front of the good looking Son. The Son told pops top lay off.Then he began throwing a hissy fit at the poor desk person for not writing me a receipt. Then,a couple friends came to visit and the old man ran upstairs with the good looking Son after they had been there only a couple of minutes and demanded a 10.00 guest fee. The capper came on my next to last day...i was having a problem with my Paypal debit MC and do i left to try to resolve the problem and came back with cash on hand to take care of the bill for the previous night and to pay for the next night.When i got back to the hotel i was informed that i could not go back and get my things until i paid my bill and paid for the next night bit i could not stay there....pay but don't stay...this from the owner...of course i did stay and made sure they knew i would be writing a solid review. The whole front desk staff is amazing and wonderful. This old goat needs to be put out to pasture before he runs an already unstable ship into the shallows.

The warmth and friendliness of the staff and owners. They were making improvements in the lobby when I was there and they were definitely going to be attractive.

Close to downtown.

Location. Very nice staff. Elevator (if u have a big luggage).

There is no sink in the room. The restroom was small.

Fair price. Also, the front desk staff was very nice.

I could hear everything around me as if were sleeping in the street. I was woken up multiple times by people both inside and outside of the hotel. It sounded like the window was open and they were right next to it. I finally fell back asleep and was woken again at about 8 or 9am when the staff came to clean the bathroom, loudly, that my room happened to be next to. When I brought it up to the person at the front desk upon checkout I was told they shouldn't have started cleaning that early sine checkout is at 11am. Needless to say, I had an awful night's sleep and had I known it would have been like that, I would have gladly paid double to stay elsewhere. I requested a partial refund when I left and am waiting to hear back.

Well it was cheap, clean, and nice employees.

the room didn't have a restroom, but I survived. Also not their fault just stating what I did not like.

The location is very good for me to go to GDC in moscone center,and it is clean enough

Location was not the best. But good enough if you are not in the honeymoon or being with very old/weak persons. Usually, middle part of San Francisco is very expensive to stay in 4 o r 5 stars hotels.

That I ever booked this Hotel

The night clerk, Mary, was exceptionally thoughtful and helpful.

The neighborhood. Late at night, someone outside began yelling for a while - and, again, early in the morning. Since it was a narrow alley with buildings on either side, the noise echoed.

Everything. Friendly service. Great location. Good breakfast. Perfect price. I was traveling with my infant daughter and we were placed nice and away from everything so that other guest or ourselves were bothered too much. PERFECT!

One street over was kind of seedy but it didn't interfere with the hotel at all. Just going to and from.

They double charged me and ruined my vacation. The receptionist charged my room twice and then said she couldn't fix it because the boss was unavailable. We are young backpackers and we were counting on $320 missing from our account after being double charged. San Francisco is not a very fun place with no money and we didn't get our money until we had already returned home. This was a horrible disappointment. From what my bank said all the hotel needed was to give the authorization number to my bank and they could undo the charge but this was unavailable because the boss did not allow his receptionist access to transaction files.

The heater broke down so we had a cOld room all nIght. The bath room was ok but someone threw uP in the sink, but someone frOm the hotel cleaned it quickly

- location is their main problem (a lot of homeless people), but it is not so critical. - wi-fi didn't work well, especially in my room at 3rd floor - there were also a persistant smell of dusty carpets in my room

I loved the price and the staff. We did well staying in the PH&H. We stayed there for the AGU conference, and the hotel is about 2 blocks from the conference center. The rooms were a bit small, but they were clean. The Bathrooms were well serviced, and the hotel is close to a pizza shop, liquor store, and a convenient store. If you forget something at home, Walgreens is two blocks away. They don't charge your card or the card you use to book the hotel until you arrive.

The location was the only downside. If you have the stones for it, this hotel's location really is not a big deal. Homeless people were about the biggest thing you had to watch out for, but in all reality, city experiences can vary even just walking a couple blocks. Be aware and be confident and this location really is not an issue, but that can be said about most places.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi was nice. Free breakfast was very nice. It was an enjoyable experience. I recommend for travelers on a budget.

There are quite a few homeless people around. It was a bit intimidating, but they didn't bother me at all.

Very cheap hotel, and close from the conference center (Moscone)

The location is probably in one of the worst place in SF (drug addicts...). But if you are ready to cross some sketchy part of the town, and you have a low budget, go for it! Personally I did not have any issue with this...

The location is good. The people is nice.

The wifi is terribly poor in my room. Only two bath rooms at each floor, but there are more than 20 rooms.
