problem with lock on door.
Great hotel. Very courteous and professional staff. Got a free room upgrade.
Only negative to the hotel was our room's shower water temperature. Not very hot.
Very friendly staff; cosy, clean and comfortable place. Close to downtown;
Nothing to complain!
Loved the style Loved the location The feel of the hotel The staff was friendly
We stayed one night at the Hotel Portsmouth. The hotel is beautiful, our room was very nice, most comfortable bed ever! The bathroom was fine--great shower. Staff was friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed a nice breakfast, on the enclosed porch. Location is excellent. We parked at the hotel (free parking) and walked to restaurants and shops--at most a five minute walk. We have nieces at UNH and will definitely be staying at the Hotel Portsmouth again.
Loved the cozy bed and decor. Staff was wonderful. I am gluten free and they provide a yummy gluten free option(s) for breakfast. Loved common areas. They provided ipads and speakers in room. Great cleansing products. Quiet rooms. Just loved it overall.
Didn't like our view of the parking lot. Needed a desk lamp because it was very dark in room.
Bed in the loft was very very nice. My girl loved the claw foot tub.
Hotel was quaint and tastefully decorated. Staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. If you're visiting Portsmouth, this is the place to stay!
The whole staff is very nice.
The decoration of the rooms is not pleasant with dark grey walls for example.
We arrived before the 3:00 pm check in time and decided to see if we could check in early which they were more than happy to do since the room was ready. At check out time they extended their hospitality by letting us park in their parking lot while we continued to enjoy historic Portsmouth.
Tastefully decorated Comfortable beds Clean, clean, clean Cozy common rooms for late night gathering, chatting Very conveniently located, walking distance to "downtown" Adequate continental breakfast Parking Quiet
Rooms were a little Spartan - exquisite style at the expense of features that make staying in a hotel room comfortable or a treat i.e. extra toiletries, hooks for towels, reading light, surface to set things down on. Breakfast could have been a little dressed up as well.
The Hotel Portsmouth is in an absolutely terrific location; which was important with how cold it was! The hotel is a charming inn (opened in the late 1800s) but feels modern, warm and inviting.
The room is a little small for the price and breakfast is pretty skimpy. I wouldn't go here if you're simply in town for business (maybe try the Sheraton) but for that special someone it's wonderful.
The hotel facilities are excellent and proximity to centre of city is great. We could easily walk to all facilities thus leaving car parked. Very easy to find
The washroom and sink area are a bit tight.
a really nice hotel and a good sized clean, beautifully furnished room . helpful staff.private parking . nice lobby rooms too . the i pad in the room preloaded with useful information on restaurants was really good. loved the luxury feel for what was a very reasonable price. portsmouth is a really nice place to stay and wander around in . tempted to come back to portsmouth just to stay here. probably the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in the usa and europe
The staff were extremely helpful. We loved the complimentary use of the ipad in the room. We received a complimentary upgrade to a lovely room. It was within easy walking distance of the centre of Portsmouth.
Excellent room. Very nice public areas and good breakfast facilities. The hotel was in a very convenient location and staff were very helpful with an excellent recommendation for dinner.
Nothing all was good
Staff is so kindly The location is wonderful a very enjoyable hotel
the rooms are a little bit voicy
This hotel was exceptionally clean, my sister has asthma and is sensitive to dust mites. She felt very healthy during her stay. The hotel manager was incredibly kind helping us to set up a quick dinner in the breakfast room for my elderly mother. It was also very quiet. An elegant hotel.
Beds Wifi Ipad Staff Water Building itself Rooms Walk able to all downtown areas
Great reconstruction of the hotel.
Bed was a full size and very soft with huge pillows, we both woke up very stiff and hardly kept all night.
Bathrooms are to small also no coffee in the room
Great common room and breakfast (make your own ) area.
Got a room quote on the internet of $139. Went to the hotel and they quoted $149. So, I had to haul my commuter out of my luggage, ask for the password ( this is in the reception area as the desk clerk looked on ) and make a reservation on-line to get the lower rate. DUH !
Friendly staff; on-site parking; comfortable room; best sleep in a hotel bed E-V-E-R!!!!; amazingly convenient to down town offerings. A mere five minute walk and you are in the heartbeat of Portsmouth. A wonderful town with lots of stores; great restaurants (Jumping Jays stands out if you like sea food). We loved every moment of it. The owner even brought us a complementary bottle of Cab because he had to check something in our room for the town. Took less than a minute and he was gone. Clearly, we plan to return here. Great value for the money.
The room we were in (#103 on the 1st floor) was lacking overhead lighting; a little cramped between the oddly narrow closet and the bathroom. Air conditioner, although operating, was a floor standing model with a white hose to drain outdoors. It detracted from the overall attractiveness of the room.
The location was great. We could walk everywhere. The hotel was nicely renovated. Very modern. Cool mix w/the antique hotel.
We loved the location of this hotel. We spent our 1st night as husband and wife here. It has the charm of a B & B and is someplace we could go back to celebrate without being a basic hotel.
The options for breakfast were slim, on any normal morning it would gave been enough we were just looking for eggs and bacon, a fuller meal.
