We have known the Inn for many years but never had a chance to stay overnight.
We traveled for 10 days and the Red Lion Inn was 3 times the cost of any other first class property we stayed at.
The only place in the village, where everybody comes along. A good place for a romantic vacation.
Hated my claustrophobic room. No tub.
the town and the location but will not stay again.
was surprised no shuttle to tanglewood, very old kinda run down, very expensive for what you get, not even coffee or a muffin.went to equinox in vt. and was blown away by everything. so was very disappionted.
The main areas need updating esp. lighting & flooring.
The hotel is beautiful, the location perfect, the food good.
This is a letter I wrote about something that happened at the hotel: "My partner, her daughter, and I stayed with you on Sunday night. We were delighted to arrive and find we had made a very good choice of hotel for our trip through the Berkshires, and were greeted very courteously by Ahmed on the reception desk. Warren serving drinks was friendly and helpful, and all in all we were having a very pleasant stay with you. At eight o'clock we came down to the restaurant for dinner, having made a reservation for that time. The young lady on the desk told us that our table was being set and would be 'a couple of minutes'. We sat to wait in the lobby, and were still sitting there at twenty-five after eight, at which point I approached the desk again and spoke to a man who I assume was the Maitre D' or restaurant manager. I asked how long our table would be and was told it was 'being set'. Since that was not what I asked, I asked what the problem was and was given the same answer. Then I tried to point out that we had been waiting twenty-five minutes and was told it was 'only 17 minutes if I wanted to be precise' which was not what I wanted to hear, not only because he was wrong about that but more importantly because his manner was extremely rude, in what can only be classified as the plastic smile of passive aggression. I sat down again to wait and five more minutes elapsed before we were shown to our table: half an hour after the time we reserved for, and in all that time we were not offered a drink, shown a menu or, that simplest of things which would have made everything much better, offered an apology. The man in question was around 40 and had a red beard. I sincerely hope you are not used to him dealing with customers in this way. I didn't get his name as after that incident I really wished to have nothing further to do with him that might further spoil our evening.
Old-style quaintness, service, and location.
Noisy air conditioner in our room.
Steven's House: exterior porch paint chipping, rotting wood, dark painted hallways, décor: shabby chic, mostly shabby with worn fabric, small bathroom facilities.
The ambiance of times gone by, the dining room for dinner.
Our room was next to street and very noisy
Old Inn - big porch Nice room Coffee in morning
Wifi not great pricey
I liked the setting in a picturesque town. I liked that there was a lot of history attached to the hotel.
I thought that our room was overpriced for the facilities provided. I understand that this is a period property but for the money paid you would expect more. Unfortunately 5 star price did not match what was on offer. Disappointing.
Ambiance, grounds, cleanliness.
Had a room next to the road with major noise coming from trucks and cars passing by. I would give it excellent marks if I were on the back (pool) side in a room.
Setting was spectacular...the town that time forgot!!
We thought that it might be nicer if a continental breakfast would have been offered to guests. Unable to use cell phones and internet.
Great location, helpful courteous staff, lovely front porch, bountiful fresh breakfast .
Run down, dark, poor bathroom with divided faucets and no shelf in shower, and has a down I the heels feel.
The location is good for being close to towns to explore. The staff is very competent and friendly.
The Inn is very large and keeping it clean is daunting but...There is a musty odor in the pub on the first floor. The entire place needed a good cleaning. The guestt ro was surface clean. Rugs needed cleaning for sure. The food served for lunch in the first floor pub was terrible. The special soup of the day was disappointing. The lobster Mac and cheese was not edible. It was a plate of liquid that was totally unappetizing. The greens for the salad served with the vegetable patty were limp. The patty was not so good either. Dinner in the main dining room was overpriced for the quality of the dishes served. I was told that the chef is new and quite talented. We did not find that to be true. I was misinformed.
Beautiful decor with art and antiques everywhere. Dining room and food were excellent. A warm inviting place.
The charm, history and sense of timelessness.
Lack of safety bars in bathroom and general lack of age related safety items. We are 83.
The room, the service, the restaurant options, the fitness center, the location, the history, the antiques.
For winter, a changing room close to the heated outdoor pool would make use of the pool more attractive
Very cozy. Friendly, sincere, helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere felt more like staying at a friend's large home than a commercial location.
All furniture very tired, worn. Antiques do not need to look like this. Band downstairs could be heard in our 2nd floor room through the night.
Just love the atmosphere and great food.
Lovely New England INN with lots of history.Very warm inviting environment.
Temperature in room was too hot and difficult to regulate. Room was a little small for two people.
Perfect weekend getaway. We loved exploring the hotel. It was great having entertainment on location ~ we did not have to leave the premises! Regrettably, we did decide to leave for dinner. The restaurant we went to was so-so, while the food at the RLI looked (and smelled amazing). If the entrees were anything like the appetizers, I am sure the meal would not have been regretted. We hope to return during the fall!
My only complaint was the heat. My husband and I had trouble sleeping because the heat was so high! I wish that we could have better regulated the temperature.
loved the location and loved the ambience. The staff was good, the breakfast was understaffed and it made us not want to wait forever to eat there. The bartender was wonderful, talkative and very helpful. the room was cozy
Beautiful hotel located in a lovely town. Historical landmark preserved. Simply charming. We had and excellent dinner in the main dining room.
Wi-Fi was kind of slow. I could not make it work in the room.
