The pool area is nice, the spa is accommodating
Everything is so expensive, there are so many hidden fees that are not included in the original room booking.
The Resort was beautiful and relaxing, the pool and beach where wonderful. The staff was friendly and helpful, gave us an upgrade for the room and a welcome bottle of champaign to celebrate our honeymoon. We can't wait to go back!
The costs at the hotels stores and restaurants are a little hard for a young couple but expected for this class of resort. Overall no big problems.
The front desk upgraded us to a better room than we had booked (at no charge). The staf was very friendly and profesional. The hotel was clean and well kept. The waitress by the pool took great care of us for lunch and throughout the day-- even watched our belongings if we left for a few minutes. A nice little plate of fresh chocolate dipped strawberries was waiting in the room for us (nice surprise) with our name scribbled below in chocolate sauce. What I think I really liked about this stay here is you don't feel like everyone is just waiting for a tip. The service feels sincere somehow. It's a nice aura or vibe that you feel here, unlike The Four Season's in Maui (which is nice, too, but you definitely feel as though everyone has their hand out). It was a nice stay here, all in all. ;)
That we were ordered to finish our cocktail by dusk, while still sunning and watching the sunset on the beach. Some staff member came by to collect the drinks and made us go sit in lounge chairs up near the little bar area if we wanted to stay by the beach. What? Maybe that is a city ordinance, I'm not sure, but it was a little odd-- that I did feel. Especially for such a nice quiet beach such as Kapalua. It's not like we were on spring break at a wild beach party in South Beach (Miami). We are well into our 50's-- and it's Kapalua, no?
The view was great, the Beach was lovely and safe. The staff were absolutely great they bent over backwards to help you. The food in the restaurants was fabulous. We absolutely felt relaxed.
The Kapalua resort has a shuttle service which will take you anywhere on the resort for free. The sunsets are great on this end of the island as well as walking distance proximity to three beautiful beaches. The bartenders, Kathleen and Gion were the best and went over the top on service and assistance with maps/points of interest.
At check-in amenities and programs could have been better explained - i.e. we found out only about the shuttle by calling the bell man for a taxi. Otherwise it was paradise and we hated to leave.
Service and facilities were excellent. Travellers can always tell when a hotel/resort is run by staff that take pride in what they do. Having just arrived from another resort on the Big Island, the difference was night and day. The Ritz-Carlton was light years ahead in quality, service and friendliness - and they didn't try and squeeze the guests for more $$, i.e. the wifi was unlimited and included. The reception/concierge areas were actually HAPPY places where guests and staff weren't at odds with each other, unlike so many other places we have stayed.
Valet staff excellent
Restaurants shops staff a reception staff at the terrace restaurant
The overall scene, beautiful setting, friendly staff.
The additional costs ($30 day resort fee, $30 valet parking or $18 self parking, the expensive drinks and food), lack of more reasonable priced "quick service" food.
Lots to like about the Ritz_Carlton. Staff were great especially around the pool. You can get around the whole resort complex including golf and restaurants using the Shuttle which is great. Location is great and as long as you have a car everything is close to this part of Maui .You get what you pay for at this Hotel
It's getting a bit dated and the cost of shelter around the pool is really irritating. If you pay a resort fee then cabanas etc should be free - not extra cost.
All the staff were great, but get to know the bell boys. They will look after you.
Beach is fantastic, rooms are big
Windy location, worn out interiors, everything is very expensive
nice place, nice big rooms, staff were helpful, wifi was fast, pool was nice
too far from anything, needed a car to get around everywhere, beds were uncomfortable, hallways were too cold (air conditioned)
Fantastic hotel with the beautiful Golf veiw, it's a really good choice for the family vacation. Of course, you really need a car if you live here, but you can easy to find Supermarket and restaurants within 5 minutes by drive.
Location The grounds were very well kept. Staff in the pool house restaurant were excellent
Hotel was not to usual standard of Ritz - is more of a resort hotel than a luxury hotel. Food in hotel limiting - odd that one restaurant was closed on sunday pm. Had compromised on quality. Manager did not take any active interest in solving our problem
The staff were great. Food was lovely as well.
Location is on the windy and often rainy northwest shore. Vibe was not cheerful because beach and pool area was practically empty with the odd person wrapped up in several towels. Lots more fun and sunshine down the coast in Kaanapali.
Fantastic facilities Amazing beach Pool area and bars well placed Beds very comfortable
We got upgraded to a suite, and the suite was nice. The hotel looks nice and the grounds are lovely and well kept. The concierge services are pretty good. We liked the sushi restaurant. The weather was fabulous. The WiFi is unusually fast and reliable, although it doesn't work as well by the pool.
We actually booked an ocean-view room. First they tried to get us to upgrade to a suite for $174 a day (but with no view) and we refused. Eventually when the room was ready (we waited around for several hours, as we were early and they didn't bother to call to let us know that the room was ready, as they had promised) we discovered it was the suite anyway. So much for customer preference. On the bright side, since the hotel is actually not that close to the beach, I don't think the ocean view is worth it. The Terrace restaurant is very expensive and hit-and-miss. My first meal there was excellent, the second terrible. Breakfast is $30 per person, which is unreasonable in my opinion. The shops and the cafe are rip-offs. We paid a crazy $37.50 (!) for two cups of orange juice and one stale croissant with ham. This is the general problem with the place: it's terribly overpriced. Then everyone expects tips left and right, although there's a general service charge on top of the pricey room rate, and the various taxes and resort fees amounted to $70 a day. The hotel is actually not next to the beach, although there's a small beach nearby. There are no water sports organized there, expect to go somewhere else. Food at the two small cafes is ok, but again, way too expensive. To give you an idea of the general cost of holidaying in this place, unless you're unusually frugal expect to pay around $5k a week, not including flights, transport and car rental. While I actually had a nice holiday, it was terrible value for money.
Personable dining staff
Lack of amenities Charge for printing a boarding pass! Self parking fee to start and then upped Without advance notice Not advised in advance of up charge room fee by B. Com
I liked everything the swimming pool, the location, and the restaurants.
Beautiful grounds. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff.
I like the pools and the tea in the room, and wifi is good!
too far to the beach, too slow room service
Boring, not value for money.
Excellent service by staff, great facilities and resort.
