Friendly staff. Room spacious. In the centre of town.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. It's within walking distance of all the sites. I will stay there again!

There are no elevators, so you have to carry your bags up two floors. The bed mattresses fall in the middle so you sleep at an angle. The breakfast is terrible. No fruit only stale pastry. The hotel lobby and breakfast room is two blocks away from the rooms.

Room smaller than expected, TV too small, room small and not worth 192.00 a/c did not work right and bed was not that comfortable. Maid service never showed up.
The room was clean

We had heavy bags and had to take them up ourselves, luckily only 1 flight!
Location, staff, comfort of rooms although we were in a family room and the bathroom was tiny. Wifi was good and breakfast hearty. We found parking right outside the door otherwise you have to park at he other property.

Very basic toiletries, and coffee and tea facilities. No bottled water.

poorly furnished room practically in attic of old building, accessed only by two sets of narrow stairs that, had I been elderly or disabled, would have been impossible. Decor can be summed up as cheap and ugly.
the people seemed nice, the complementary breakfast ample.

I was not aware that there was another Inn that I would be staying at from the actual one. When I arrived in the later evening I was told that we would have to drive over to our actual room on another street. It was a rainy night and I am not from the area and I was traveling with my teen daughter. I was also treated to a warm shower in the morning. This Inn states breakfast is included but if you are at the "other" residence, you will have to go back to the actual Inn to have some. The woman who runs this is so sweet!
The woman at the front desk was very nice and had a warm greeting.

The floor creaked a bit and I was concerned about people below me. The shower was a bit snug but I am not petite. Breakfast was pleasant but imo not worth getting up especially for.
The room was HUGE with a fireplace and couch. the bed was comfortable and the WIFI performed reasonably well. Much better than many other hotels I have stayed in. The location was perfect. I parked the car and didnt move it again until we left. It was a lovely trip.

Parking was inconvenient (and a little hazardous because of poor snow removal on sidewalks).
Thought room was accurately represented on web, therefore; it met expectations.

Loved the location of the Inn. We also loved our room with our little fireplace. It was perfect. On our second night, we were even able to get a 2nd burning log. Very cozy and quanit

Inevitable downside of historic building us carrying luggage upstairs.
We enjoyed the ambience of the old buildings. There was a sense of history without the discomfort of old amenities.

I was so very disappointed to think a business could be so lackadaisical . This placed needs a major cleaning and massive remodel/update. They should really just torch this dump.Unfriendly staff, torn and tattered towels, ripped dirty bathroom rug. Bugs were crawling on the sheet when we woke up (ugh bedbugs!). I videoed them, and also took a lot of pictures of the broken garbage furniture.Filthy carpets, old and dirty couch. The soap in the shower marked shampoo was hand soap. Coffee pot clogged, stirrers they gave you were opened. Nothing was fresh and clean, absolutely no amenities provided.Very thin walls you can hear everything! I didn't feel safe, the lock was basically a bathroom door lock. The front entrance of the Inn had no staff so anyone could walk in off the street and push through your door. I found an empty 6 pack of beer under my bed (cleaning staff?). The bed has deep sink holes in it, flat gross pillows. This place is tired and seems like the establishment themselves have checked out, no one cares about anything. Save your money there is no romance to be had here. It's equivalent to a truck stop-over but very highly priced. I'm not exaggerating, check out the filthy, dusty ripped artificial flowers they stick in the vases upon arrival...it's an insult really. You will be sure to lose money, lose sleep, and be on edge until you leave. Any decent review of the Inn must be from the staff. Stay away!
The town of Salem was very pretty and charming. The woman in charge of the breakfast worked very hard and was very pleasant, her coffee was good too.The mural in the lobby was nice.

Very close to everything. Breakfast was much better than I had expected.
September 27, 2014
Bathroom door could not close due to being blocked by Kitchen counter. Breakfast was like a Holiday Inn not like a B&B. It was all self serve and not very good.
The Inn is beautiful and location is in a nice old neighborhood.

I was wholly disappointed by my stay at the Salem Inn. Although the location is fine within the town, I found the staff to be very unhelpful and rude. For instance, when I asked for recommendations for nearby places for a late dinner, the staff didn't seem to care & wanted their shift to be over. The quality of the overall establishment was shabby and subpar. I was expecting charming surroundings, but I thought the quality was lacking. The bed we stayed in was uncomfortable, with lumps, which insured a bad nights sleep. The room was dusty and the view was poor. I expected a lot more from my stay, especially for the price it cost.
The location of the Salem Inn is its only good feature. Other than that the entire establishment is lacking in a number of ways.

The decor looked tired. Bed in room given as right next to door and hence noisy. Also a lot of road noise directly outside. No wi-fi in room.
