Location close to downtown easy to get there by public transport

building needs renovation no reception! manager onsite only during regular office hours (9-5) $20 cash for check-ins after 5pm! (nowhere mentioned!!) Manager Miguel is the rudest person ever! 2-bed room reserved and paid, had to stay in 1-bed room sheets not clean (not changed from last guest)

Good in city location one half block to BART--also convenient to low cost cafes.

Very basic room in old Victorian--no tv or wifi or heat. The rooms are damp and some heat in early evening and morning would go a long way to make a comfortable stay! WORTH no more than $250 weekly. Too chilly and damp. Burrr.

The fact that they have WiFi is surprising. Although it was a bit spotty and would tune out at times.

The rooms are filthy and there are crazy people who live here. There was a refrigerator (as promised) but the single outlet was under the bed.

Great hidden restaurants in the area. Friendly staff.

No televisions in the room, I was told they were recently stolen. Paper thin wall so if a neighbor is smoking (which isn't allowed by the way) your whole room will smell like smoke. No security. Outlets in the room placed high up on the wall, I had to prop my phone up on a stack of books to charge it. During my stay there was an incident with a belligerent guest, the on site attendant never came to address the situation even though it went on for over two hours. All in all you get what you pay for.

I had a great and enjoyable stay at the sentient. Me and my friend were very well looked after by staff member Simon. And we felt very safe and secure even though we were a million miles away from home. It is great value for money. It's a standard hostel, but certainly meets the needs of living and getting by. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone who needs somewhere to stay. The area isn't the best but stick to yourself and you will be totally fine.

    Nothing

The hostel smells like weed all the time, the neighborhood where it is located is a dangerous one. The rooms have no courtains. The bathrooms in all the floors are nasty.

Err..... Our room had a sink in it.

The room stank like wet dogs, it was cramped, it was dark as the one light had 2 dim led bulbs shining on to the dark green badly painted walls, the door to our room had been smashed in at some point and had one very flimsy key lock on it which took about 3 minutes of playing with the key to operate it, the only window was dirty - not that mattered because it only looked out to a brick wall 30cm away! The building didn't feel like a safe place the bathroom had hypodermic needles on the window sill, the range of smells in the rest of the building went from drugs to rotting flesh!

Facilities were not as described as wifi did not work in our room, there was no hot water on two of the days we stayed there and also no fridge or microwave which was described when we booked it, staff were nice and helpful to begin with but then once we comented about the inaccurate description of the room they turned rude. The door didnt lock properly which made us feel very unsafe leaving our belongings in the room.

The fact our rooms weren't burglarized was the only high point. Our car parked in front was...

The fact that there was no toilet paper provided, no towels, no soap, no garbage cans. Sketchy is an understatement. We are stoke we didn't get assaulted but out car got the rear window busted out and all our stuff was stolen. This is a flophouse- if that's what you're looking for that's what you get. The poop in the floor/ shower/ only public trashcan was dealt with locking us out and not cleaning it for 3 days.
