Staff was great Room was great
A funny smell as you entered the foyer between outside door and door to lobby.
Excellent! Location, price, friendliness, and cleanliness!
Very comfortable room and friendly staff. Nice location in downtown. Close to Target and reasonable restaurants (Subway, Chipotle, sandwich shops, etc.).
No view. Looking out my window, I saw the adjacent building's brick wall and fire escape. Older facility. It's well maintained, but it's definitely aged.
Comfy beds Huge room Great location Helpful, happy staff
Noise from light rail train
Great location, super rooms, fantastic beds, friendly & helpful staff.
New look to lobby and bar does not fit the heritage charm of the hotel.
Great location! Staff was very friendly and courteous. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Room didn't have a pamphlet of what the hotel had to offer and where to find items.
I happened to mention that it was our anniversary while checking in with Ariel at the front the desk. Later that evening we were surprised with complementary champagne and chocolate strawberries. Clearly, the staff at the Silversmith are thoughtful and committed to making their guests as welcome as possible.
Within 3 blocks of the Chicago Theater, very convenient for excellent Cat Stevens concert.
Luxury boutique hotel without the hype. High ceilings, well lit, minutes from Art Institute and Millenium Place.
Not dog friendly. I'd like to come back with my dog.
The location is perfect for shopping on State Street. It is also close to transportation. The price is is a great value. Plus, the rooms are bright and decorated beautifully.
We arrived before our room was ready so we had the hotel hold our bags. When we returned to check-in our bags had been misplaced. It took quite a long time to get our bags. We also asked for an extra blanket which we received but it was stained and dirty. I will say that the staff was extremely helpful and provided us with a down comforter the following night.
location, comfortable bed, deco. cleanness
Shower water pressure is not enough
The style of the room was elegant, tasteful, comfortable & spacious.
Breakfast wasn't included.
-- Staff at the front desk (needed something printed out and scotch tape which was promptly done) -- Room service (breakfast)
-- Wanted to take a bath; however, the tub had a couple of hairs in it and there was a small piece of soap around the drain
Front Desk staff, doormen and valet were very helpful and pleasant. Rooms were comfortable and clean.
View from room was of an adjacent building across an alley. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing because it probably reduced the noise from the L train and street out front.
The décor and color scheme of the hotel. The bar area was very beautiful in design. the drinks were top notch!
The cleaning of the our room was less than expectable. They need to pay more attention to the details of cleaning the bathrooms and vacuuming the floors.
This hotel has the best staff ever! We will be back again and let everyone know what a great place this is.
Staff were very attentive, respectful and helpful. Beautifully decorated. Our room was a king size and it was not cramped. Very spacious bathroom, with tiled glass shower. I'd recommend it to others and stay there again
I like smoking in my room
We arrived early (9am!) and were allowed to check-in immediately--we were even given a higher class of room than we had booked at no charge. The hotel was nearly $200 less expensive than the the block rates our conference had negotiated with the Palmer House. (We aren't fully reimbursed) The hotel is very close to public transportation. Some have mentioned train noise. To me, it more sounded like there was a persistent, strong wind than anything too problematic. The convenience more than makes up for this. The room was spacious and very clean. The Wi-Fi was adequately fast (and free) We asked for an extra towel. They had to have one brought up because there weren't any at the desk. When it took too long to deliver (over 30 minutes), they comped us two free drinks at the hotel bar (totally unprompted by us) The staff was always polite, accommodating, warm, and welcoming.
They stored our baggage for free when we had to check out before our flight. There was a Bear's game, so a rush of folks who couldn't check in who also stored their things, so bags were stored in all sorts of closets and offices. It took a very long time to find our bags (we had a cab waiting). But, seriously. This was the only thing that went even remotely wrong. If this keeps you from staying here, you're absolutely insane.
A good size room, a large bathroom, clean, a nice bar downstairs
Plumbing - not the best, the toilet didn't flush well The (night) staff couldn't figure out a pretty straightforward billing request - they didn't know how to use the computer system to make adjustments.
We stayed in a king premium suite . The bed was heaven everything was clean and fresh felt like a princess (: loved the giant mirror..doorman was cool when we arrived .. Close to all the shopping/ attreactions/ trains
The bathroom sink counter top was small for putting out your stuff to get ready especially with two women - could use a separate vanity/ makeup mirror area .. And where did the doorman go? After our arrival never saw him again - those doors are heavy!!!
the front desk was incredible at helping us navigate the city, make reservations and tend to our in-room requests. will definitely stay here again. the lobby and lounge area were perfect for our large party.
Quietness of room at back of hotel. Friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Proximity to tourist sights, public transportation and shopping.
No breakfast included. Refrigerator cooling was extreme and difficult to adjust. Lack of tea bags.
Nice rooms! Good room service friendly staff Perfect location. Walking distance to everything in downtown.
Try to get as high in the busilding as possible in order not to be disturbed by the subway that runs outside on s. wabash avenue.
