location. adequate gym facility good wifi
I didn't like that the hotel was not able to accommodate my needa. There was an error while booking and they did nothing to own the issue and help.they even knew it was a common issue and they couldn't fix it
Boutique hotel very nice with amazing staff - very accommodating. Great location for going out downtown. Best Hotel experience:) Will be back soon!
Friendly staff and great location walking distance to the harbour, on edge of gas town, plus not far to the airport.
I do not like when the desk staff (that are English speaking) talk in a different language in front of the guest. Especially when we trying to check in. It implies that there are statements being made that the staff do not want the customer to hear. Other than that, we loved the staff! Water pressure was less than par, and the walls were paper thin. Overall great stay!
Our room was very spacious, and the general atmosphere was calming and uncluttered. The staff was mostly helpful and polite. House keeping was wonderful.
Noisy people in the corridor (the room door was not soundproof at all)
Central location Stylish
Room too small.
Localization is very nice, only few blocs from Gaslamp Quarter. Staff was wonderful!
I enjoyed the hotel very much. I like the more quaint hotels. The staff was excellent and my room was very comfortable.
Awesome place to stay for a great value. Only downside is the parking.
Nice hotel within walking distance of all the attractions
Room to small. Parking to expensive
It's location. It's clean
Our only complaint was the bed...it felt lumpy and super hard. Other than that everything was perfect!
Bed was not very comfortable, internet connection was spotty and rooms are very small.
The location is great! The ambience of this boutique hotel is wonderful. Very urban feel in an historic building - decor is beautifully done.
A little difficult to find my room due to dim hallways
Loved the ambience
We didn't have any room service, when we would have preferred a vacuum and a made bed, and some fresh hand and face towels.
My wife and I stayed two nights, Friday and Saturday and checked out Sunday. We went to the zoo for 7 hours Saturday and were expecting new coffee, a made bed, and some new hand towels. Hover when we came back, rom service had not come and we were a bit confused.
As an older structure the room was pretty small. Also, walls were pretty thin and you knew when someone was walking by your room. Just keep the fan going for white noise and it's not an issue.
The Sofia is an older hotel, but has been updated. It was clean and comfortable and in a great location. Walking distance of the harbor and downtown night life.
The stay was a nightmare! We had two rooms at the second floor. The aircon outside kept working every twenty minutes, huge noise. Remote controls in both room didn't work. There was even no phone in one of the room. We ended up shorten our stay and left early.
we could hear a fan running (I suppose from the room next to us) Our air conditioner was off.
Everything was fantastic, except...
The customer service really made me feel like a regular even though it was my first time.
Restaurant was a bit over priced and a little too upscale for my personal tastes and there was no early breakfast available.
I thought the price per night was good for downtown San Diego and on a weekend...but got what I paid for - a single double bed in a very small room. But it was nicely appointed and the hotel is beautiful. I liked all the old pictures of the hotel in past decades that were in the walls and part of the light fixtures. The location can't be beat.
Room was too small for two beds - Heating & Cooling was inadequate and not fixed when requested.
There was very little that I didn't like - facilities, staff, location etc. was all great.
Being a female travelling for business alone, I was a little bit afraid when I read some of the other reviews talking about the proximity of the hotel to the courthouse and bailbond establishments - but the area is really very safe. I walked by myself often during my 5 night stay and had no issue whatsoever. In fact, I found the location was perfect for me - close proximity to the conference centre, and gaslamp district as well as the airport.
Low toilet, and the toilet paper holder was far away.
I had a corner room, excellent view. plenty of plug-ins for my electronics. Clean and comfortable bed. The room had everything I needed. This was my first stay, but will stay again.
Our room - a king - looked inside to a brick wall and got hardly any light. It felt dark and dingy. The room size felt very cramped. Wardrobe and safe were very difficult to access. Wash basin was part of main room, not bathroom. Overall we were disappointed for the rate we paid.
Lobby area with open fire was very welcoming. Staff were helpful.
Very small rooms. Only area to sit and speak to friends is in lobby. Valet $34/day - ok for business - not so great for pleasure.
clean rooms, staff good
