The place, the staff and the apartment, in general.
Poor maintainance follow-up, with some out of order equipments and kitchen missing items. A very, very, small table...
The design and layout of the flat was excellent. It captured a stylish but homely feel that a hotel cannot offer. Spotlessly clean and with all the utilities I could have needed.
Staff were not available for queries and didn't fix the broken toilet despite that fact I logged a call. On arrival it took a long time for them to come and show me the flat key.
Bad experience with checking in and out. The room is nice , clean, and beautiful. But super unconvenient with staffs and checking in and out system here.
Loft style Apartment
Only place to put some comments. We never got to stay at Soma Suites. Company had double booked, even though we had reserved since July 14. Moved us to one of their other buildings which just happened to be in the notorius "Tenderloin" area. Mission houses, YMCA's, drug addicts homeless, need I go on..... Its a shame because the apartment building is great. Secure, comfortable, good quality furniture, modern kitchen and bathroom and certainly worth the money (if only it were in a much more pleasant area). My wife and I never felt at ease once the sun went down and so we incurred a lot of taxi fares to drop us off right at the door.
Great central location within easy walking distance to the downtown shopping district. Close to public transport. Cabs to mission and Hayes valley should cost $10 or less.
The owners of this building HATE bicycles. If you intend on hiring bicycles for longer than a day as a way to see SF (which is an excellent way to do so, as SF is an incredibly bike friendly city), do not stay here. While the building does have a lock up bike area, this is not available to short stay tenants. Bikes are also forbidden in apartments. Bike theft for bikes parked overnight on the street is ridiculously high in SF. You've been warned.
The room looked well organized and clean. The view outside my window was great! Staying here made me feel as if it were a home, not a regular hotel like in Vegas.
I hated the parking there. I would expect them to allow people staying in their rooms to get free parking, but no. I ended up paying $66 for 3 nights. The restroom sink and tub would overfill easily with running water. Also, having brought food to cook, it was a hassle cooking with an electric stove and not a gas stove. The TV would've been great after a long day of sight seeing the city but instead, most of the channels were not available.
The management is senseless when it comes to customer care.
Everything except surrounding área of Soma which is not the Hotel problem . It is the City Government problem.
A large number of homeless and other people showing aggressiveness by the Hotel surroundings.
Spacious, nice studio apartment.
It wasn't very clean, questionable spots on floor, and tub, dishes in dishwasher. No drinking water available, no coffee, no extra blanket. There were only 2 bath towels one hand towel for the two of us. Since it is an apartment building with no "services" on location, that really was thoughtless.
Staff at the entrance of the building was very welcoming and helpful. Location is great. We could store our luggage for long hours in the office.
There was no cleaning during the whole of our stay. When we arrived in the flat the garbage from the people before was still there.
Cute small 1 bedroom, good for a couple that doesn't mind being close:-) large bathroom Facilities are pretty good for the money
Cleanliness, there were hairs in the bathroom and shower curtain needs cleaning. Also dust under the bed, it hadn't been cleaned in months. Very sparse with kitchen utensils, only one bowl for cereal. One tablespoon and one butter knife, this could easily be improved. Neighbourhood is a bit dodgy
Neat, new, and spacious room. Very close to the Moscone
the blocks around the building are not the nicest in SF
I am 100% percent sure that I left all my make-up bag with all my make-ups and makeup brushes in the top drawer of the bath room and I called them on the day I checked out but they insisted that there was nothing in the room. If the cleaner has already removed them they can be honest and I would understand this but I have tried so many times to ask them to check the top drawer again, every time there were different excuses. Nobody wants to stay in a room like this.
Internet connexion quality Independence once you receive the keys. Whether it be by foot or public transport the hotel allowed you to move easily. Gym access
Contacting the staff when you come from oversea in order to check in is not easy. Thankfully the building receptionist was helpful. The neighbourhood did not make me utterly at ease.
The location and cleanliness of d room and security
No room service, horrible customer service. The place is more like a rented apartment nt a hotel. You're locked outside the building until someone from their office comes down to pick u and they never pick up the phone. Horrible.
View, Privacy, Huge place, Definitely not your typical motel room.
Odd people on the streets around.
Great view, quite glamorous decoration, convenient location, gym, secure place.
The parking lot. It was ridiculous to have to pay $20 every day for leaving the car overnight in the parking lot. It should just be free for everyone who stays at soma.
I got there a little before 4pm, and they already had everything ready, the apartment was clean and it was lovely, beautiful view of the city hall and part of SF, close to markets and transportation . Would definitely stay there again.
The apartment itself is large and clean, with major facilities in the kitchen and a fantastic Wi-fi. It is cheap, for SF, especially since it is near to several conference enters, like the Moscone. Security at entrance works.
I have never experienced such awful procedures for check-in and check-out. I have waited more than 1 hr before someone would come down the hall and pick me, then another 30 mins. before actually entering the room. The worst, however, was that they repeatedly refused to produce a receipt at check-out, until, with my colleagues, I menaced to call the police. I have both spoken to security and (pseudo)receptionist. If you want to get it as you are travelling for business, know you will have to spend half a day and a bunch of stress in order to be successful. Also, the place is located on Mission Street (quite unsafe) and has the infamous (totally unsafe) Tenderloin just north: this is not the usual place full of homeless. As a man walking in the streets during the day I have been repeatedly shouted at and menaced by crazy people. If these are the only streets you see in SF, you'll never come back!
Kitchen amenities were great to have. The space was nice and far superior to a hotel. I will use the facility again when in San Francisco!
There was nothing to dislike
The price and theoretically, the accommodations and price
The fact that they cancelled by email at 12:45 the morning of the night of my booking. This left me homeless (like so many) in San Francisco on my travel day. I would suggest you not roll the dice on this company or location.
The room was clean and had everything I needed. Bed is comfortable and kitchen is well equipped.
The location is not very pleasant at nights. The first 2 days I had no WiFi and no TV signal, and it was really difficult to get ahold of the staff.
We liked that we were a short walk from BART(2 blocks) and had a great place to hang out later in the day and morning. A well thought out little suite and a reasonable walk to Union Square.
This is a discomfort experience to stay in a serviced apartment. No daily room cleaning, no curtain only mini blind, no coffee and tea provided. We asked for bedsheets and blanket for sofa bed. They only brought bedsheets and didn't help us to set up.
